American country music songwriter, singer, and occasional actor Ed Bruce has left us at the age of 81, on January 8th. He was known for writing the 1975 song "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys" and recording the 1982 country number one hit "You're the Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had". Italian-American Antonio Sabato (Sr) has left us at the age of 77, on January 6th. (complications from COVID-19) He was noted for extensive work in the Italian exploitation genres. He is the father of model and actor Antonio Sabàto Jr. and Simmone Sabàto. Among Sabàto's starring roles are parts in the spaghetti western films One Dollar Too Many and Due volte Giuda. American actress Diana Millay has left us at the age of 85, on January 8th. Perhaps best known for her work in television, having guest starred in close to one hundred prime time shows, both live and filmed, and for playing continuing roles on two daytime soap operas, Dark Shadows (as Laura Collins) 1966 to 1969 and The Secret Storm 1971. After the early 1970's her interests shifted from acting to writing and she published several books. R.I.P. Diana Millay

French actor Etienne Draber has left us at the age of 81, on January 11th. (complications from COVID-19) He acted in over 110 movies and television productions between 1965 and 2018. He acted in films such as Profs, The Under-Gifted, May Fools, and Ridicule. He also appeared in television series. He played the role of Monsieur Grand-Coin du Toit in the 1994 sitcom Le Miel et les Abeilles. His most successful series appearance occurred in 2008 with Plus belle la vie. American camera operator Owen Marsh has left us at the age of 90, on January 10th. He was among the 13 founders who established what was then known as the Society of Operating Cameramen (now the Society of Camera Operators). He served as the nonprofit's inaugural president from 1979-81 and received its Lifetime Achievement Award in 1992. He specialized in stunt and special effects camerawork, like "hanging off cranes and helicopters, under trains, on the back of speeding cars, in cages with lions, horseback, under buffalo stampedes". After the Tanya Roberts debacle I was a bit edgy, and when I searched for a Strain orbit these were on top, I just assumed they were new. Sorry for all the confusion! In 1984, he directed the film Polar, which was an adaptation of the novel "Morgue plein" by Jean-Patrick Manchette. In 1989, he produced Street of No Return, the final feature film in the career of American director Samuel Fuller. His poetic fable Mauvais garçon was released in 1993. After directing many films, Bral focused on screenwriting, and served as both director and screenwriter for the film Un printemps à Paris, which won the Grand Prize at the Police Paris New York Film Festival in 2007.
