I recently had someone try to convince me that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is better than the original Star Wars trilogy, and the Star Wars franchise as a whole. Now, I am definitely a fan of the “McU”, but I don’t think anything in it can compare to Empire Strikes Back. And the argument in favor of the McU, at its core, is really nothing more than a quantity over quality argument.
What say you? Which is the superior franchise? And why? Don’t forget to vote and explain your answer below.

It's actually tough for me. I absolutely love the original Star Wars trilogy and much prefer them to any MCU movie, but I actually think the MCU is the more consistent franchise overall. I could go either way.

Empire, Jedi, Phantom, and Revenge I legit like.
There are far, far more Marvel movies I like.

The MCU has stayed more consistent overall, so it gets my vote.
I also blasphemously prefer some of the MCU movies over than the entire SW saga.

MCU. At it's best it equals SW at it's peak. At its worst it never sunk to the depths of the prequels.

There should be a third option. They both suck.

MCU. At it's best it equals SW at it's peak. At its worst it never sunk to the depths of the prequels. That's a good way to put it. My biggest problem with the MCU (and similar films) is the stupefying Big Beat Down at the climax of each.

Well if you watch a superhero movie not expecting a big beat down at the end then maybe you don't know what you're watching.

MCU remains the more diluted franchise, & they've only been around for just over a decade.
The Last Jedi was bad. Captain Marvel on the other hand, I never even watched & I'll never have to. MCU has far more needless entries, not a great trait.
