Good memories. I just stumbled across this. Chris Jericho filming the whole thing from the back of the van while all the guys are driving up to the window to order food.

I"m with you I'm a huge Cornette fan. I"m addicted to his podcasts. I doubt there's anything else planned for him for the wwe. He hates it and they're not that high on him either. They just did the thing with him and the rock n roll express beccuase of history and all that.

Cornette is a legend in the business. And a hilarious pip. Are you sure you didn't mean to say that Cornette is old and lost with the times. Poor guy complains about modern day wrestling whenever he can.

I agree with a hell of a lot of what he says about modern day wrestling. He loves the business and is outspoken about things he thinks are wrong with it. I don't blame him for that.

I agree with a hell of a lot of what he says about modern day wrestling. He loves the business and is outspoken about things he thinks are wrong with it. I don't blame him for that. Russo has a great shoot where he's on Stone Cold's podcast and pretty much bashes modern day wrestling too. Ashame Cornette and Russo hate each other - they're actually both what today's product needs. Russo did a similar shoot with King Kong Bundy. Basic premise is - everybody today just looks like regular guys. Nobody really cares except hardcore fans if a sports entertainer can 'work' in the ring. These guys aren't pulling in your 'casual viewer'. It's a reason I tuned out as well. Goes back to Nash's comments about 'Vanilla Midgets'. I miss the King Kong Bundys, Hogans, Studds, Kamalas, Goldbergs, Lugers, Warriors, Savages, etc etc etc. These guys appeared larger than life. Now? These guys look like your neighbor and a guy you'd go have a beer with at Happy Hour. There's nothing making me tune in today that makes me say - 'Wow! I've got to see this guy!'. Think the last time may have been Goldberg when he was going on his undefeated run and in my eyes it was 'must see tv'. Other than that - when WWE brought back the nWo - tuned in for nostalgia purposes. Only thing I can possibly think of to bring me back on a weekly basis at this point is an epic Cena Heel turn ala Hogan at the Bash '96

That's where Russo has no idea what he's talking about. Russo himself is actually who looks like a regular guy. Grey-haired and pudgey. Not the sculpted Adonises that are in the WWE. Stone Cold looked more like a regular guy than Seth Rollins.
It's not a problem with the guys' looks. It's a problem with the booking. Nobody looked twice at The Ringmaster or even early Stone Cold until he was placed in good feuds and allowed to be himself.
Today's wrestling is sadly a by-product of Russo's hotshot booking. He's the last thing modern wrestling needs. Modern wrestling needs more old school booking. Guys like Cornette and even HHH, if NXT is anything to go by.

Guys like Cornette and even HHH, if NXT is anything to go by. i actually think Stone Cold had 'the look' - much better than his 'Stunning Steve' days with the blonde hair. i guess it comes down to personal taste. i know many despise Russo. i'm not one of them. as much as late WCW gets bashed - it'd take that product over todays (and the last 10 years or so plus) WWE. there's late Thunders and Nitros on Youtube - I find them entertaining in a trainwreck sort of way - but 'entertaining' none the less and that's Russo. One can argue there were too many swerves - you never knew who was on who's side on a weekly basis if you happened to miss a week - but just for my own personal taste - i found them 'entertaining'. unlike today's product. would you rather watch today's product? or Russo's WWF/WCW? to each their own - and i'm not one of those guys that just shamelessly defends 'the attitude era' to no end - i actually think Hall and Nash kicked it off and Russo and WWF followed suit - but if you give dueling GMs of Cornette and Russo on Smackdown and RAW (and I love Angle - I just don't tune in now) - maybe i'd stick around longer as opposed to picking up the remote

I don't despise Russo but at the same time I think he's part of the problem. Wrestlers looking like regular guys is more of a problem on the indy scene. The problem I see is they all look similar with the big muscles and the tattoos. As the saying goes, if you have all big man, you have no big men because nobody stands out. So if the WWE sets the trend because they're the big #1 company, then everybody tries to do what they see on tv which means it ends up all being similar and nothing unique. Where as in the past, each guy breaking in grew up watching a different territory. Then after they broke in, they worked different territories which means they were exposed to many different kinds of workers and different styles. But I can go on and on about all of that and more when it comes to the comments Cornette raises regularly about current wrestling. The booking is a whole other topic in itself that an entire book could be written about.

I can't comment on the specifics because like you I really don't tune in much. When I do I know what I see. From what you posted, you seem to know a lot more than I do about the current product. I"m familiar with Austin Aries only from ROH. Sammy Zayne also. Only know him from ROH. The Wyatt guy I don't know

I don't get why anyone would want to watch super muscular oiled up behemoths meander slooooooooowly around the ring and perform at best the most basic and most boring "moves" i.e. choke slams, (fill in lame trademark name) punch, leg/elbow drops etc... Talk about guys from your neighborhood. Thats how lame fat dudes fight in real life. Shove each other around until one fat slob is too exhausted to do anything. Now guys like Goldberg or Lesnar who destroy people are a totally different story but it sounds like you are more into staring at tall muscular guys no matter how boring and limited they are. That's the type guy Vince loves so you should be happy with the current state of WWE. Vince is determined to make his latest crush Roman Reigns the face of the WWE so just be patient. Even with piped in cheers, Reigns is not liked by crowds and he's too damn boring to be even a half assed heel. Is that what you mean by guys who get 0 reaction or are you a Reigns fan?

Is that what you mean by guys who get 0 reaction or are you a Reigns fan? you should put Reigns in Lesnars and Goldbergs class right now. yeah - i know people love to hate on him like Cena - haters will hate - he's actually quite talented in the ring and one of the only reasons to tune in despite his limited mic skills ala Goldberg and Lesnar. he's an agile big man and a human wrecking machine. i'd rather watch reigns than 90% of the rosters. flipping back and forth now and just saw that cruiserweight dud tag team match with neville, perkins, aries and the british guy. crowd was dead and couldn't wait for it to be over. the TJ Perkins cat looks like Beaver Cleaver - bland, dull, no personality - no presence - just some dud they threw out there. unbelievable they keep shoveling that crap out. reigns just hit the ring. boos galore. that's what it's all about. a reaction ala Cena. good or bad. not crickets chirping like a vanilla midget like tj perkins who looks like he should be studying in a library and drinking a dr. pepper.

I saw him also in ROH but I don't really remember him too well Did you like any of the current WWE guys while they were in ROH? Like El Generico aka Sami Zayne or Kevin Steen aka Kevin Owens or AJ Styles aka AJ Styles? To me the best guy in WWE now is Styles. Not great on the mic but not horrible and the guy can put on a great match with anyone.

I do agree that TJ Perkins is bland though. they even turned him heel and nobody cared/noticed. should change his name to TJ Snoozefest countless times i've tuned in - he comes down the ramp to crickets chirping. this is the problem - get duds like this off my TV. otherwise i'm picking up the remote and tuning in 2 weeks later. only to see this dud come down the ramp again to crickets chirping....... as i'm scrambling for my remote. love the fans that bash cena and reigns but will rave over garbage like this
