What do you all think of "Green Lantern" starring Ryan Reynolds and directed by Martin Campbell (Goldeneye, Casino Royale)? Has time been kind to this panned $200 million dollar movie (with $175 million toward marketing) after 10 years or has it only gotten worse? I know Ryan Reynolds has had more than his share of criticism toward the film. Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: Green Lantern (2011) - 2.5 out of 4 stars"Reckless test pilot Hal Jordan (Reynolds) is, curiously, chosen to join an intergalactic peacekeeping force known as the Green Lantern Corps. He likes being an overnight superhero but isn't really ready to take on the weight of responsibility that goes with it. Meanwhile, a nerdy scientist who's always been jealous of Jordan's relationship with flyer/aviation exec Carol Ferris (Lively) is exposed to an alien corpse that begins to transform him into a kind of id monster who's out for revenge. Adaptation of DC comic book isn't innovative or deep, and doesn't make a lot of sense, but an attractive cast and spectacular visual effects make it fun to watch. 3-D Super 35."

I saw it a few years ago. It had atmosphere but it didn't do a very good job at introducing its characters. The end was sort of far removed from the beginning.

Not terrible, not great. Had he not been in the MCU, Jeremy Renner would have been much better as Hal Jordan. Ryan Reynolds was miscast.

Look, the guy is good as "that plastic arrows guy in that superhero team" but he hasn't got a quarter of Ryan Reynolds's charisma or sense of humour. But well done for being that one guy who thinks Jeremy is good outside anything MCU though... Ryan even brought a football team I mean... Seriously how do you think Jeremy even competes with that?

It's what can happen when comic book properties lack grander vision on paper. It's not bad, alas not close to great either.
I actually think it might've been better received prior to TDK trilogy &/or MCU. I guess it's just not fine tuned enough.

I don't think it was as bad as everyone made it out to be, it's just that it wasn't particularly good or memorable. It also really felt (to me anyway) like it was DC's attempt at mimicking the Spider-Man movies.

It's not that bad, but it's a film that doesn't take full advantage of the premise. I felt it should have been cosmic and grand, which was probably where they were going had they made a sequel. The CGI suit was goofy looking. Hector Hammond came off as embarrassing, but Parallax served for a decent threat.

Despite this movie's failure, I wouldn't had minded it if they did a reboot or something. But I guess that's what the HBO Max show is going to do.

Mark Strong is the best thing about this crap.
If it wasn't for Deadpool, Reynolds would have been competing for straight to video roles with Doplh Lundgren, Bruce Willis, Jean Claude Van Damme, Eric Roberts, Mickey Rourke, John Travolta etc.

I wouldn't had minded a solo movie just about Mark Strong's version of Sinestro turning evil.
