Currently at 97% fresh which is obviously great. BO is apparently tracking for even lower than BOP so this should be interesting to watch. That’s because it’s releasing on HBO Max… for free. Makes no sense. It should be theaters only at this point. This hybrid model doesn't seem to be working. When people can get an HD quality bootleg on the day of release, that's without a doubt going to cut into profits in a major way.

loved it. great cinematic experience. gunn ftw, again. what a nice refreshment after the last suicide squad.
loved gunns writing and enjoyed the casting as well. finally an adult actress who can pull of fragility strenght and innocence at the same time (Ratcatcher)

The first film set a very low bench mark, but in terms of improvement in quality The Suicide Squad might be the best sequel ever.

One of the worst movies I've seen in a while. I actually thought it was worse than the first one, and I didn't think that would be possible with Gunn at the helm. The jokes weren't funny, there was barely a plot and the characters were completely hollow. Glad I didn't pay for this one.

Cant think of any other sequel that would show such jump in quality and entertainment level. There are good/great sequels but usually they had a good/great first one already. This really turned the franchize around for me. And I think its all because of the levity of the writing.

I thought Gunn was canceled for making Pedo jokes, all forgiven if a lefty? I saw one review complaining about animal cruelty. In a previous film Gunn thought a field full of severed dog heads was hilarious. I mean, who doesn't right?
He made jokes about harming kids too.
That just means he is not hired to appeal to a wide audience--the opposite. He sure has privilege though.

I was underwhelmed. Doesn’t seem to be a popular opinion on the internet this morning but none of the jokes worked for me, and I didn’t care for Peacemaker or Ratcatcher. Harley was perf tho. ❤️ By the halfway point I was disappointed Indulgent Slow. Considering what Gunn was canceled over, Weasel seemed a bad choice

I just saw it, and I don't understand the high scores. Yeah it's better than the first SS but I wouldn't put it above Aquaman, nevermind WW or Shazam.
A lot of the jokes were flat (and there were a lot of jokes) and it relied a bit too much on shock value, gore and crassness.
Not a bad movie but nowhere near as good as the reviews make it out to be.

I agree wbout WW, I wouldnt put it about that, that had better character depth, but in my eyes SS did much better than Aquaman and by a bit also by Shazam. But maybe the reviews are skewed because its So Much better than the first one or the Emancipation disaster one. Do you remember any of the jokes you found flat?

Though I shouldn’t be shocked considering all of the promo was about what a demented “genius” Gunn is. 🙄🤮

I actually would put it above Wonder Woman I found the first WW movie pretty lifeless. If there was anything memorable or salvageable about WW then it came from the supporting actors Chris Pine and Danny Huston not from Gal who is supposed to be leading the damn thing.

Objective: Destroy Jötunheim.
Simple solution: Stealth bomber. A couple laser guided bombs.
Dumb solution: Send in a bunch of unpredictable, unreliable, super criminals.

The objective was to make sure the project info didn't leak. Once informed the drive was secured, Waller was going to blow the team's heads off for trying to stop Starro.

It was meh. The constant jokes got old about 20 minutes in. Some of the action was pretty fun though.
When will we finally be free of this GotG-style humor? It’s so bad, and literally ruins entire movies.

It’s so bad, and literally ruins entire movies. That would be James Gunn's humour style no? I guess as long you watch a movie he wrote and direct. I want to add that Idris Elba is absolute fantastic as the lead. I mostly enjoyed the camera and artistic decisions like the flowers bursting out from Harley Quinn and the ratcatcher 2 backstories where her memories are illuminated on the bus window. The fact that the final battle took place under a bright white sky is also a plus.
