You just really don't get it. I take it you have never had a potentially fatal disease. Fear, and the reaction to it, just is what it is. Those of us who have been there, know. I've tried my best to get the concept across, but I don't see any point in discussing it further. You've made up your mind. How well-received would I be if I joined a support group for those with fatal diseases to bitch about some guy who told me he prayed for my health? You don't think everyone would be asking themselves just what the hell I'm doing there? I don't think you really believe that a dying man has a right to be an ingrate simply because he's a dying man. My guess is that if this had been a get well card or flowers, you wouldn't be so quick to defend him from such a brutal assault. If you were in the same support group as I was, you would have been well-received. It was a topic we covered often. Unwanted things done in the name of "support".
