I think this forum is terrible compared to IMDb because the moderation is more unbalanced. For example, you just banned somebody in another thread for saying something about race. But everybody in that thread was insulting everybody else, even more so than him. You singled out the one guy because you happen to have a personal hangup with race (You just happened to list it again in this thread as the only unacceptable speech). I can be part of a religion that chops off baby penises and sucks the blood, but I can't make a joke about Asian women having extra large parking spaces, because the moderator is a race pimp? It's arbitrary. IMDb was arbitrary too, but it was also random. This is more focused, and in the long term I think this place will shrink because of it. It's already too quiet.

It's nice because I can actually say fuck. Oddly enough I don't use it a whole lot, maybe because I was so used to the censorship on the old board.

although i will always hold a special place in my heart for the original board and most of its original posters, it's nice to have an environment that isn't overrun with trolls.  Yes, all those trolls made it very difficult for you to stand out. Too much competition. |

I'm not entirely sure what your intentions are with this thread. This isn't the first time you've insulted the intelligence of users on another board. You can have your opinion, but there has been a change in your online personality. Sure, you can disagree with me. I have held this opinion for a long time. I may be wrong but I have always found politics board too strongly divided on the lines of Republicans and Democrats. This board may have its own problems but many people usually don't attach to stance of their political parties here in virtually everything. I did once made a comment that it is very unlikely for people of soapbox to merit special recognition or titles. I had said that people of I want to know board or classic film board help other members more often than not and so they should be given special titles. I also didn't include RFS people among those deserving of titles. Because much like soapbox or politics board, there is very less scope for people to be become a helpful member when they are posting on RFS board. |

I meant to compare to the politics board of this website. The politics board is many times more active but seems to be an eternal circle jerk of democrats and republicans. Most of those posters have fixed opinions and keep talking the same thing over and over. The atheists on this website are in a majority but it was not much different on IMDB. We still have plenty of theists though many of them are relatively quiet people like londonbird, gadreel and allaby. It kind of seems like all of the on topic discussions on this board are just: Atheist: "believing in God is stupid" Another atheist: "sure is" Theist: "no it's not" Yet another atheist: "yes it is" More humble atheist: "some of the things that Christians believe are kind of irrational, but we should respect them as people" So you're saying that atheists are more respectful than theists, got it!  Seriously though, what do you really expect on a religion board -- people to agree? |

IMO they seem like children wrestling in a sandbox. They think the sandbox is the entire world. If they could see how they appear from the outside they would feel shame. No, my point is that there are too many atheists and a lot of the threads are basically just different atheists agreeing that God doesn't exist, with the occasional token theist. Most theists don't feel comfortable defending their religious beliefs, I think. |
