Yeah, ignore two-thirds of a post so you can try to keep up some silly pretentious act. The act is as comical as it was when Ada kept pretending she was a new person called Helen and that the "strangers" were being stupid to allege that they know her. This is probably even more comical given that no attempt was made to change the name either. What's comical is when poses who think they knew something are proven to be wrong, yet continually act as though their faulty assumption is correct even in the face of facts. Maybe the reason you are so reminded of Ada is because your actions are so similar to hers. Inability to admit when one is wrong -- very Ada like indeed!

Do you think people just forget all the creationist bullshit you posted on the old board and how your understanding of evolution is nonexistent yet you still tried to argue against it? Hell, you're the same little ignorant shitstain who once claimed that evolution was somehow disproved by the fact that Neanderthals and Homo sapiens share a common ancestor. Of course you will try to deny it now since you ran away from it like a little bitch then.

No, my point is that there are too many atheists and a lot of the threads are basically just different atheists agreeing that God doesn't exist, with the occasional token theist. Most theists don't feel comfortable defending their religious beliefs, I think. That should kind of tell you something about their beliefs shouldn't it? That they're indefensible?

True, you have. And now that I think about it, so do many others on here. So then mic is full of sh*t then! Seems that way. I understand you have decided you are an Atheist now, what made you switch teams? Some people can't keep reality out forever, and it sometimes reaches a point where it becomes more painful to resist reality than to let it in.

I don't know everything about reality, but it makes no sense to invest my life in something that is unproven and unverifiable. I live my life in accordance with what appears to be the case, not what I wish to be the case.

I live my life in accordance with what appears to be the case, not what I wish to be the case. That's fine for you, but enforcing it on others will be problematic. Take a good look at this, sheeple. It doesn't have to be the case, as long as it appears to be the case. You know, like the earth appears to be flat and the sun appears to go around it, or like a table appears to be solid and therefore part of "reality" although science teaches us that about 90% of it is empty space. Reality is all about the appearances, you know.

Reality is all about the appearances, you know. Yes, but if I based my life around that philosophy, then I'd have to try and structure my life around not only what Christianity teaches, but also all other conceptions of God. Which is completely untenable. And that's the same with you; except you probably have had more exposure to Christian theology than I have in your formative years. Others have had exposure to Hindu teachings, or Islamic, etc. Since there's no reason to think that a personal God exists that would care about whether I genuflected towards it, or take any personal interests in the insignificant minutiae of my life (and there's every reason to think that this isn't the case), then the best course of action is just to assume that it doesn't exist until I have reason to think otherwise.

Of course you will try to deny it now since you ran away from it like a little bitch then. Insults, slander, and ad hominem...the last refuge of a lost argument. It's very convenient for you that no such proof exists of your claims. I suppose you believe that other people should believe this nonsense is "true" merely because you've said it. I have never met you before, nor had a conversation with you before joining this forum. So whatever your beef is with me, I assure you it has been misplaced. You've either decided that something I said in the past has offended you, or you've mistaken me for someone else. That being the case, I see no reason to try convincing you of anything. The first thing you need to do is show some humility and admit when you're wrong. There is no reason to act this prideful and stubborn about something that isn't true. It doesn't advance any of your positions nor does it hurt mine, so I don't know why you continue with this rhetoric. Just consider the kettle logic and inconsistency about who you guys claim I am, lol. According to you I'm a theist creationist, according to Erjen I'm an atheist heathen, according to you I'm gay, according to PD I'm a homophobe. According to you I don't believe in evolution (despite the fact that I've argued clearly in favor of it numerous times). The fact that you guys can't even get your stories straight about what my actual positions are should tell you that you should probably stop relying on assumptions that lead to straw man arguments. If you'd like to know where I stand on something, you should just ask rather than make up a presumed position of mine. I suspect that we probably have more in common in terms of beliefs than you'd like to admit. Either way, I'm content with you believing what you want. If you'd rather just chuck insults this direction like a five year old, by all means continue to do so.

What you mean is that there's no reason for you to think that a personal God exists. Not everyone is like you. Some have found a reason. But is that reason based on anything more than personal desire? It seems that most of the people who do believe in God have some kind of emotional investment in wanting that to be the case. When I was younger, I didn't really care whether God existed, and lo, I never believed in God.

When I was younger, I didn't really care whether God existed, and lo, I never believed in God. People believe in what they want to believe. And when it's hard for them to comprehend why certain things are the way they are, they create a reason that helps them sleep at night. That's why religion started in the first place; to fill in the gaps of ignorance and to comfort people who didn't know why bad things happened.

That they're indefensible? That would be the most logical conclusion would it not? No, it would not. It tells me that religious beliefs need no defense. I'm quite willing to discuss mine, but they need no defense.

What it tells YOU irrelevant (as you are not the most logical or rational person to begin with). And if you are a Christian, then your belief absolutely requires a defense in order to make evangelizing possible, because that is one of the expectations of all Christians. If you truly believed that your religion required no defense then you wouldn't spend so much time here trying to do exactly that. Like every other theist here, they try incessant to defend the indefensible UNTIL you are faced with a paradox of logic that you cannot escape. That's when you bury your head in the sand, cease all critical thinking, and default to cognitive dissonance.
