I think that’s stupid, but I also think it’s stupid to not get the vaccine unless you have a legitimate medical reason not to. But they should still be allowed to play, I mean unvaxxed players are playing everywhere else, what makes NYC different?

If the Jays write Chapman a new contract (don't have to, he signed until 2024), that might take them out of the Freddie Freeman Froofrah. I can't believe Tampa is a serious contender. That might leave the Red Sox. I'm not sure I'd be ecstatic over that. Knee jerk reaction is "Woo Hoo". But 1b isn't a need. I'd rather see them grab another OF or a starter, especially with the Chris Sale news. And it took the Sox two years (lucky it was only two years) to get out from the luxury tax doghouse. Right back in it if they sign FF. Chapman is a Jay... & his Gold Gloves should immediately improve their pitching. Freeman was a reach - Vladdy is the first baseman, & they're already platooning DH enough with nearly everyone but Bo. Vladdy at third vs. Chapman at third - I'm pretty f'n okay with that. Jose Ramirez, the Jays would put him at 2B if it happens... or perhaps the reason it doesn't happen. The Jays have never won 100 games in a season... 99 in 1985 was most... I might be a bit surprised if they don't. The hitting should easily handle all the doubleheaders. Not to mention the anti-vaxxers who won't be playing on the road here #burn I think the ALCS is the floor for this team, anything else will feel a letdown. The team isn't in some playoff drought, nor are they just a room full of kids anymore.

Dodgers sign Freddie Freeman to a 6-year, $162m pact. Carlos Correa is the biggest piece yet to land...

Kris Bryant to the Rockies for 7 years, 182 mill. Guess he didn’t want to play with the best player in the universe? I simply do not understand this signing from either side. I mean, yeah, Bryant will get $182m, I get that, but.... The Rockies have made it abundantly clear that they have no interest in competing right now, after jettisoning Nolan Arenado (AND $50m) in exchange for an average pitcher in Austin Gomber and a bunch of shitheels whose names aren't worth knowing. Then they fail to trade Trevor Story and Jon Gray at the deadline last year for reasons that defy explanation. Now they sign Bryant, a guy who I love and I've wanted on the Mets since he came up in 2015, but is 30 years old, has had shoulder issues and is actually a defensive downgrade from Arenado? It just makes no sense why they would do this when the rest of their roster is so bereft of talent. The Rockies have publicly maintained that they "aren't that far off from contention," which is laughable. And if I'm Bryant, what the fuck? Unless he gets traded before the deal runs out, he'll never play in a playoff game again. If he went for top dollar, then fine, but there's no way you'll convince me that the Yankees, Phillies and whomever else wasn't offering something in the area of what Colorado did.

Agree on all accounts. I wanted him for the Mets as well. My initial thought was he went for top dollar as he already has a ring. But to your point, none of the big market teams were offering that much or even close to it? More confusing from a Rockies point of view. Why not just keep the superior home grown Arenado rather than pay Bryant? Just doesn't make any sense.

I know they have a new GM, who wisely made a qualifying offer to Trevor Story so they'll get draft pick comp when he signs elsewhere....but they didn't offer one to Jon Gray. There was no way Gray wasn't going to test the market and seek a longer term deal in a more pitching friendly environment. Signing with Texas will help Gray out a ton.

Coors Field can inflate his numbers & he can be traded to the Dodgers for World Series pinch hitting assignment.

Some roundup news.
Cardinals sign Corey Dickerson, a solid lefty bat to a righty-heavy lineup. Good move.
Cubs bring in versatile utility infielder Jonathan Villar. Villar is a great backup, but holy shit he is a TERRIBLE baserunner. Hard to believe he once had 60 steals. I've never seen a guy get caught leaning or make a totally boneheaded move on the basepaths than I did last year with Villar.
Angels bring in Archie Bradley, and now have a great trio of relievers with Bradley, Aaron Loup and Raisel Iglesias. Are the Angels finally plugging their team with enough quality pieces......

Luke Voit traded to them San Diego Padres, details later. Will He DH or will Hosmer? Of is Hosmer on his way out
Mad Dog Russo just went off on the Reds management. Good for him. There was no reason to tear this team apart. No ghastly Cabrera-esque contract on the books. ROY Jonathan India, good looking prospect in Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo, some young pitchers. Now sentenced to 3-5 years of shit.

Even though I can’t stand him, he’s totally right about Cincy. What a joke.

Phillies look like they’re about to land Castellanos, which really cements what is now a pretty formidable lineup after grabbing Schwarber and adding them to the existing group.
