If it wasn't for 1980's Nicholson I would probably go with Pacino. Nothing beats 70's Pacino for me. I might even agree that '70s Pacino is the greatest decade by an actor ever and even if my 5 favorite performances of all time were from '70s Pacino, that doesn't mean that he is overall my favorite actor. Maybe if you had some of the same annoyances and frustrations I have with post-Scarface Pacino, you would feel differently.

Nothing beats 70's Pacino for me. I might even agree that '70s Pacino is the greatest decade by an actor ever and even if my 5 favorite performances of all time were from '70s Pacino, that doesn't mean that he is overall my favorite actor. Maybe if you had some of the same annoyances and frustrations I have with post-Scarface Pacino, you would feel differently. I do agree that Pacino wasn't as good after Scarface. 1971-1983 was his absolute prime, but after that he's still delivered some damn good performances. As you know, I'm one of the very few that thinks he actually deserved to win for Scent of a Woman.

Those are 2 of the main reasons I prefer him. Jack does have a natural charisma of a caliber that few people possess, which makes him endlessly watchable.

Pacino can claim maybe the best film character ever with Michael Corleone but always been more of a Nicholson fan.
