I respect the medium of television. There’s some terrific shows. Both the ones mentioned by Power Ranger above are excellent. But I don’t think Star Wars belongs on the small screen. The shows are loaded up with tons of filler, and the effects work is abysmal. Seeing Star Wars with such terrible special effects is painful when it literally used to pave the way for new effects in the industry. I really think Mando would’ve been a lot better as a movie, with a two hour script and some decent visuals. The worst episodes of Mando have all the quality and production value of Xena the Warrior Princess. I disagree about Mando special effects. Maybe I’m just still in awe of that LED tech and it blinds me? Either way, to each his own. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if they release a Mando movie sometime soon. Similar to El Camino or that Soprano’s movie, but I think they’d make it a lot bigger and most likely release it in theaters. That could be interesting and really good depending on how they execute it.

I think this show sucks and the Boba Fett show was mediocre at best, but I love the idea of Star Wars on TV taking over. Mando S1 was good; S2 was fantastic. On top of that, Mando is being run by Lucas’ hand-picked protege Dave Filoni along with Jon Favreau. They’re both great talents that complement each other perfectly (Favreau for the tech, Filoni for the writing). At least with those two at the helm, Star Wars can move forward with genuine interest from most. Deborah Chow (a choice out of left field) is running Obi-Wan and Robert Rodriguez had his hand in TBoBF all the while the Lucasfilm brass were pushing this show all along. Filoni has been involved with The Mandalorian, Clone Wars S7, and The Bad Batch since Disney took over. Then his fingerprints are all over those two great Boba Fett episodes. He’s doing the Ahsoka show as well, which will build on all of those projects as well as Rebels. Again, I personally like the idea of the TV end taking over. It allows the universe to continue to be explored in many different directions without the burden of shoe-horning in a bunch of saga lore when it isn’t needed. On top of that, I have been watching a lot of older shows recently (The Rifleman mostly) and the difference between movies and TV is noticeable and has been since the old days. By its very nature, TV is going for quantity over quality. A two hour movie that takes three years to make can be a lot bigger and more polished than a ten episode (about 8 hour) show that has to be done in the same timeframe. They’re made differently and I appreciate them both for what they are. Just get some better decision-makers at the top! There’s no reason Obi-Wan should’ve been greenlit at all, let alone once the script was read and nothing of worth was going to be explored. Same goes for Boba Fett. Stick with what works - Mando. Trust the writer who has got you this far to use his favorite creation - Ahsoka - for a good show to further the plot of this smaller TV universe. Build off of those and slow down. TV can be excellent. I don’t watch much of it, but IMO the early seasons of GOT and Better Call Saul come to mind when I think of excellent television. I feel that Star Wars’ TV potential is unlimited. That’s even with budgetary limitations. Anyway I don’t think the budgets are the issue. The issue is the simplistic, tacky plots and dialogue. And even if that was with Star Wars from the beginning, it doesn’t mean that it needs to remain. Granted that Mando is the best of them but even that has vast room for improvement IMO. Better Call Saul will surpass Breaking Bad as my favorite show of all time if it finishes strong with the second half of S6. Can’t wait for that. I also don’t watch a whole lot of TV, but I agree that Mando could be improved for sure. I think we already saw some upgrades with the visual effects in his two Boba Fett episodes and that points in a solid direction for S3. As for the story, I mostly like the episodic installments with a general plot running throughout the entire season. I think they mix those together pretty well, though I would like to see them lean a little more into one main storyline.

Just finished the finale. I'm interested to hear what everyone on here thinks of it.

Good finale.
The highlight of this series for me continued to be Kenobi-Vader and every single scene and moment they shared. Everything else mostly paled in comparison to this, as it should. Kenobis emotional journey here unpacking all that baggage he had from the RotS was really enjoyable to watch. Likewise Vader was badass and a powerhouse throughout and the end of that Kenobi fight where he's beaten yet again by his former master and left all alone with nothing but his rage and anger is just perfect. The final Leia scene was good. The Luke stuff was meh. They didn't do enough to make the Reva character memorable or important here. The Qui Gon cameo was nice. I didn't care for the instant teleprtation that both Reva and Kenobi showed in this episode. The writers needed them to instantly be on different planets and they were. It felt like pulling a page from the last few seasons of Game of Thrones in that regard. I know they have lightspeed but come on. Overall I enjoyed the series. Not as much and Mandalorian or Boba Fett but enough to appreciate it.

I saw it based on a recommendation and I stuck with it but the best that I got from it was the introduction to Saul.

Just finished the finale. I'm interested to hear what everyone on here thinks of it. Much of it looked nice, like the scene of Obiwan saying goodbye to Leia and the music was excellent in many scenes. The scenes with Vader are interesting except for the ones where he fights Obiwan. I really didn’t get anything out of their interactions. We know the dynamics of their relationship that to see them at it again just felt like Xavier and Magneto arguing in tired scenes in later X-Men films. I would have preferred to hear what they said to others about each other. And if they have to meet, a duel is good enough. I’m sure that force sensitives have all kinds of powers but they aren’t as dramatic as a light sabre duel. Anyway I would have preferred if Vader and Obiwan didn’t meet. I didn’t care for the plot of this series. There may have been elements that were enjoyable but that means very little ultimately. In fact it makes it even more frustrating, because it evidences they could have made an excellent series. But they didn’t.

Alright I finished up episode 6 earlier and my final thoughts on this series: I thought the series as a whole was okay. 6/10 for me. The Darth Vader stuff was the highlight of the series for me. Also the Reva actress got was too much unnecessary hate. Like Jesus Christ what the fuck is wrong with people? I also wasn't expecting a cameo from Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn. So that was cool.

The finale was a vast improvement on the previous two episodes. It started out a bit rough (Ice Cube Jr. was woefully miscast), and a certain cameo was a huge letdown, but overall this episode was very good.

I pretty agree with your thoughts. Not a great series but not bad. Episodes 4 and 5 we're now points for me (other than that badass fight between Vader and Reva in episode 5), but the finale was pretty damn good.

I thought the finale was ok. Obi-Wan and Darth Vader shouldn't have met in episode 3, the fight should have been saved strictly for the end. I know already neither one dies, and I know Luke doesn't die so there's no tension in anything that happens. I liked seeing Qui-Gon Jinn despite the cameo being obvious.
This series is better than The Book of Boba Fett, but I didn't care for it overall. This feels like something that could have been knocked out in a movie.

Episode 6 was the best one of the show . Overall the series wasn't very good but it had some great moments. It deserved better. Every scene with Vader was great though. He was the MVP of the series. I really liked final scene between Vader and Obi Wan and that smirk Hayden gives when he says that he killed Anakin was gold.

You should catch up on it. The first three seasons are my favorite because they focus almost exclusively on Jimmy, Mike and Kim. Season 5-6 are still phenomenal but more and more screen time goes to cartel characters and Gus Fring- which can feel a little bit like filler since we know who lives. A minor complaint though.

I’ve only seen the first episode, but I’m wondering how they have Obi and Vader duel twice without breaking the canon of 77.
“When we last met I was but a learner, now I am the master”
“Only a master of bad memory, Darth. We met again twice eight years ago!”

Leia didn’t seem too upset by Obiwan’s passing in ANH which is strange considering how much time they spent together.
