I was discussing this board with a few old departed members (some left with dignity, others in disgrace) and the argument was made by some that this board is full of too much hate and negativity for the MCU.
Now, me personally, I think the measure of a good discussion board is how well criticism is handled. I have certainly been on boards where any slightly negative comment (even if it’s a well meaning critique by a true fan) is met with hostility. Reddit is basically like this with every fandom on every single sub. It’s just absolutely intolerable.
I am a big fan of Marvel, but I find that being able to voice my disappointments and criticism is part of being a fan. I also don’t mind others doing the same. That’s precisely why I like it here.
But to indulge the counter perspective: Are we a bunch of hateful a-holes trolling the MCU, smothering the positivity in the fandom like cold gloved hands over a gasping mouth, chasing off the virtuous like so many glowing fiery demons, unable to let the light and love of Feige into our dark lugubrious hearts?
What say you?!

Compare to how this place was 5 years ago, i'd say that it's not as negative as before.

Compare to how this place was 5 years ago, i'd say that it's not as negative as before. It was like congress before- two extreme sides in constant battle. Now it’s mostly moderates who can see both sides. I kind of like that. It was more fun 5 years ago though! 😂

Not really, but I do wonder about posters who essentially hate watch tv shows. Like…they dislike episode 1 but continue to watch each episode weekly. It’s like they enjoy being disappointed, annoyed and angry.

Although i do miss some of the posters we lost. I wish the OG's would return to this place. The 5th anniversary would have been perfect for a reunion!

It was like congress before- two extreme sides in constant battle. If you look closely you can see Raptor and DC Fan!

It’s like they enjoy being disappointed, annoyed and angry. Yeah, I can’t do that. Although I did force myself to finish a few of the Marvel shows I wasn’t enjoying out of fear that I’d be lost in the movies. Perhaps others are doing that too? It’s precisely why I feel the shows shouldn’t feature essential story lines/characters.

I don't visit here as often as I used to, but it seems less negative than it was before. I'm just glad a lot of the haters have gone, and even though the MCU has faced quite some criticism recently with Phase 4, I haven't seen anything too bad on these threads. It's more of constructive criticism than bashing, which comes from the actual MCU fans.

It's not worth getting attacked over it.

It’s like they enjoy being disappointed, annoyed and angry. Because they know they have to watch them when going into future films to catch up on what's been up with some characters, and so they feel like it's essential viewing. I was skeptical on watching them when they were announced since I'm not a TV show person but it's been more enjoyable than I thought. Some shows/miniseries are better than others, of course.

Pish. Nonsense. I visit a number of comicbook-related forums and this is one of the mildest ones I know of. Do we disagree on things? Absolutely, and just well we should. If we all agreed on everything then this board would end up being extremely boring, like an echo-chamber where we all just pat each other on the back.
But this board doesn't have a high number of resident trolls (we used to but they don't seem active anymore) and, at least majority of the time, we avoid all the name-calling and schoolyard insult-throwing fairly common in other fandom boards.

Yeah, I agree completely. To be perfectly honest, anyone offended by the “negative” posts here is a (censored).

It’s like they enjoy being disappointed, annoyed and angry. To be fair, I don't actually feel justified on criticizing a show unless I've actually watched a good chunk of it. So on one hand there are shows which I immediately dislike from the get-go (like Ms. Marvel), but at the same time I want to give it a fair chance to win me over so I end up watching it till the end anyway. Normally I'll try to at least finish 1 season, and if the succeeding season still hasn't much improved then I stop. At least that's how I did if for the CW superhero shows.

That’s fair…and honestly, knowing a season is only 6-8 episodes I’d probably finish it out of principle. Unless I found absolutely nothing redeeming about it tho. There’s far too many things worth watching to waste much time on a show I’m hating.

The big issue with this board back then was how personal shit got when it came to discussing Marvel, DC or even Star Wars.
Like Jesus Christ posters dead relatives got brought up and mocked. One user even doxed another user.
All because they took these films seriously.
