Hello there.
The bad news is that the Nations League is again upon us. The good news is that the EPL returns next month with a blistering card of ten games. It gets going on Saturday lunchtime with the North London derby between first-placed Arsenal and 3rd-placed Tottenham. Expect fireworks, perhaps a red card or two and a very animated Antonio Conte. It's a genuinely lip-smacking fixture.
There's more. The Manchester derby follows on Sunday, with a rejuvenated United travelling to City.
There's action at the other end of the table too, as Monday night sees the East Midlands set-to between rock bottom Leicester and next-to-rock bottom Nottingham Forest. Will Brendan Rodgers still be around by then? Currently 1/6 favourite for next EPL manager to go, he's hanging on. I've lost count of the number of summer signings Forest made, but it's over 20. Remarkable. The bedding-in process will take time but you have to wonder at the wisdom of bringing so many new players into a squad that's just won promotion by itself. Four, five, maybe - but (let me check) 22 new signings is, well, not working so far.
There are some interesting ties elsewhere too. We could finally see the return of Diego Costa for Wolves at West Ham on Saturday evening with both sides struggling at the foot of the table; the feisty forward has been allotted the #29 shirt but didn't figure in the defeat to Man City on Saturday and if you attach any superstition to his number he either will either pick up 29 cards this season or pot 29 goals.
And Liverpool will attempt to break a two-season run of not being able to beat Brighton at Anfield, the Seagulls having gained four away points from six since 20/21. Brighton, who may well have installed a replacement for Potter by then, have every chance of a calculated smash and grab, you have to say.
I doubt if any of last week's postponed games will be played this month but you have predicted them anyway for when they do come around and I have logged your picks already. I suspect a few of those matches may be wedged between the weekend cards in the first week of October but with the FA in charge it's anyone's guess.
The table below includes the seven games played this weekend and well done to Darkshines on her 6, just 1 away from a full house.
Good luck.
