Bride of Frankenstein...was ok but felt like despite the title we only got the Bride for like 10 minutes. Graduation Day...kind of a typical 80s slasher. I did enjoy the mystery and Linnea Quigley is always entertaining. Graduation Day is actually one of those Quigley 80s horror films, I have yet not seen. Does she take a fully naked shower or bath in that one? Seems to be an on goin trend with most of the 80s horror films of hers.

He's a bit of a bore in the film and they barely give him much to do, but I guess I'm used to seeing him play the kooky type. Maybe you'll like him in it. Okay, Part 2 is now starting to be awful in a hilarious way and Freeman's performance is getting more entertaining. The umbrella kill scene is hilarious and awesome. Glad to hear you got something out of the film, as the mentioned kill scene along with Freeman and his "random" "PUUUNISH!" during the cinema scene, always cracks me up. His constantly moving eyebrows is also quite a sight to behold, a shame he did not get much more time onscreen, but I am pretty sure he did show up in a horrible later 80s slasher, along with Linnea Quigley. But only in a very small part.

I couldn't help notice that you had a Letterboxd account (in the progress thread), and decided to click the "following" button, as I already know at least a few others from this site are on there as well. However, my name is not stefancrosscoe on that one, but instead FrankNSteen), due to someone else having already taken Stefancrosscoe, or that it would not work we me, back in fall of 2018. Anyway, nice to see others on this place, that also have a profile on Letterboxd. Oh, nice! I'll go add you now. I love Letterboxd!

Oh, nice! I'll go add you now. I love Letterboxd! Yeah, I was quite happy when I finally made the change from IMDb and soon noticed how much smoother things like adding new seen/rated films and making lists, but also how much easier it is to follow and see what others are viewing/liking and such, compared to others sites.

Have been meaning to look up her workout "documentary" as well, but not sure if that one counts as a real movie, or maybe the runtime is also too low. But could be fun way to warming up with, also maybe have weekend where I would just have Linnea Quigley and her films as a main theme.

Another day, another "would it be okay to include it as a horror film" pick. This time, I suddenly got the cravings to re-watch the Abel Ferrara 1984 release Fear City, in which I have not seen, for almost a decade, but remember it to have a murdering lunatic slaughtering beautiful women all over the city, in fact, I believe he even beheaded some with a samurai sword, cause he was quite deep into martial arts. Anyway, I quite liked the final fight as well, but anyway, it seems most film sites has it down as either thriller, drama or crime/mystery, but to me, this is not far off William Lustig and his Maniac/Maniac Cop films, gritty and sleazy atmosphere, a ruthless killer, lots of nudity and yeah, but I do not want to end up watch it, only to learn it would not count. And since few seems to label it as a "horror" related film, I guess this is another one, that just has to be put on wait, for a while.
Probably fits more within the erotic thriller genre than drama/mystery. However, I guess I should look further into some of the Brian De Palma 80s thrillers as well, because some I always thought of as very deep into the horror genre, but if Fear City is not in there, then I guess it might also be the same for Palma and some of his movies as well.

Another first watch for me... "Steel Trap" (2007). Kind of an early Escape Room type movie before those got popular. Party goers are given a secret invite to a party in a high rise. But they soon find riddles and Puzzles.

Orphan (2009) A couple, who already have two children of their own, decide to adopt a 9-year-old girl from an orphanage. But this girl isn't all the sweet angel she pretends to be.
My first impression of this was that it was going to turn out mediocre and wasn't going to live up to its full potential as a good "evil child" movie, but it eventually started to get better. The intensity level rose higher and it got nastier in tone as it went along. The revelation of the girl and her dark secret was quite shocking and unexpected. Kudos to Isabelle Fuhrman for delivering such a chilling performance.
My two main complaints. The husband presented as such a one-dementional caricature and being so clueless as to what's going on around him, and the finale degenerating into a clichéd stand-off. You know the kind I mean that's been done so often; just when you think the killer is dead, he/she rises up for another attack.
But for the most part, a dandy horror thriller.

Watched Black Phone and Margaux.
Black Phone was really good. Ethan Hawk played a very creepy character that imo owned the screen when he was on. The child acting in horror movies normally sucks but I think this was up there with IT Ch. 1. The kids who played Finney and Gwen I think will have bright future. I was very into this movie. Best horror movie I've seen this year. Solid 7/10 I think.
Margaux on the other hand. The premise had me interested in a smart house going on a murder spree but they didn't really deliver. The 3rd act was just a mess that felt like there were 5 writers that they managed to mash all their endings together because they didn't know what to do. Sadly the kills weren't even as creative as I had hoped. Also the CGI was REALLY bad at times, like Sharknado level bad. I thought, interesting premise with an attractive cast, rated R...maybe its entertaining but if not I'll at least get to see some attractive people and maybe some boobs like those Piranha films years back or a Friday the 13th type film. Nope to all of it. Very disappointed. 4/10

I saw you mention Linnea Quigley. Haven't seen Graduation Day but did watch Nightmare Sisters (1988) a few years ago. Wow. Just wow. For my part, I think one of her best performances (beside Savage Streets and Return of the Living Dead), came through the rather well made/acted 1998 film Death Mask, and have kind of hoped she might have something similar to that one, but most of the other horror films from the late 80s, have not exactly been "great", no matter how many times she takes a nude shower or bath scene, but they often ends up as one of the very few highlights, so at least that is something positive to look back at. Nightmare Sisters I think was made around the same period as the much more fun (or so I felt) Sorority Babes in the Slime-Bowl-O-Rama, at least a lot of the same cast and locations seems to be re-used.

I’ve got a bit going on in my personal life at the moment (mother coming out of the hospital, best friend surprisingly passing away etc), so I’m going on a posting hiatus. I’m just not in a movie watching mood to participate in the challenge ATM. Being the host of the challenge, I thought it was best to let everyone know and if people had questions about the challenge, just go with what the other participants think… since a lot of you are regulars of the challenge, and know the ins and outs. Hopefully i’ll find the mood again later this month to get back into the challenge, and interact with you guys. But until then enjoy, and happy horror binging.

"Kwaidan" (1964) was a visually beautiful Japanese folk horror movie. Pretty long as well. And as expected very strange. It's more about the atmosphere here. We're treated to several tales involving a disgraced Samurai pining for his old life, A man encountering a Snow Ghost. And another Samurai battle and a blind Teen who sings stories and verses to a packed Court.

I watched the latest Texas Chainsaw Massacre. WTH was that? It almost felt like it was not supposed to be a TCM movie, but they inserted it to make it one. I also think it would have been better if it wasnt a TCM movie.
