I’ve got a bit going on in my personal life at the moment (mother coming out of the hospital, best friend surprisingly passing away etc), so I’m going on a posting hiatus. I’m just not in a movie watching mood to participate in the challenge ATM. Being the host of the challenge, I thought it was best to let everyone know and if people had questions about the challenge, just go with what the other participants think… since a lot of you are regulars of the challenge, and know the ins and outs. Hopefully i’ll find the mood again later this month to get back into the challenge, and interact with you guys. But until then enjoy, and happy horror binging. Sorry for your loss.

I watched the latest Texas Chainsaw Massacre. WTH was that? It almost felt like it was not supposed to be a TCM movie, but they inserted it to make it one. I also think it would have been better if it wasnt a TCM movie. I enjoyed it enough. I agree with most that the best TCM films are the ones that feature the whole family rather than just Leatherface. But I liked a lot of the shots and moments.

Frankenhooker…surprisingly fun in a Reanimator/Evil Dead sort of way.

Wrapping up "Nightwatch". A sort of "Rear Window" set in the British Country side. TV movie of the week. Starring Elizabeth Taylor.

Dr Jekyll & Sister Hyde (1971) A Victorian-era scientist dedicates all his time trying to invent a serum that cures all diseases. When he experiments on himself, he ends up having the ability to switch from a man into woman.
An enjoyable Hammer feature that puts an interesting spin on the old story while cleverly incorporating elements from the Jack The Ripper case. Has all the ingredients you would expect from a Hammer period piece; classical British acting, a foggy atmosphere, authentic costumes and set designs. Nicely directed by horror veteran Roy Ward Baker, and Martine Beswick was at her sultry best.
With all the graphic violence and nudity, I find it hard to believe this earned a PG rating!
Beyond Evil (1980) A couple inherit an old mansion, unaware of the demonic presence that lurks about.
A bland, uninspired haunted house tale that offers little in the way of thrills and chills, with a cast (including John Saxon) phoning in their performances. Beyond Boredom would be a more appropriate title.

Sorry about your loss, and very understandable, that the mood for much movie watching, that might not be very tempting. Hopefully things might become a little better over time, and that maybe you get to enjoy yourself a few good or just comforting films later on.

Frankenhooker…surprisingly fun in a Reanimator/Evil Dead sort of way. Nice to hear you enjoyed Frankenhooker, as that one is such a blast, even though probably both Basket Case and Brain Damage are the better films, Frankenhooker comes with so much ridiculous amount of cheese and sleaze, also love Patty Mullen as the Frankenhooker, along with Zorro The Pimp.

So far my first time views have not been so good. 5/10 at best. I feel ya, as mine have mostly been down to about a 4/10 or 4,5/10, which is quite, well, not to enjoyable. Hopefully I can however, manage to save a few unseen ones, that I really hope will do much better, the upcoming weekend and beyond. But at least, it could be far worse than a 4/10-5/10 average rating.

Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man....Not a bad team up flick. I liked that they kind of had a kinship. That scientist that screwed everything up should have died tho. Frankensteins daughter was hot.

I watched this one two years ago and was pleasantly surprised. If you're expecting the two monsters having some epic face off, you'll probably be disappointed, but I think it's a nice sequel to The Wolf Man (1941).

So far not so good. It usually takes me a minute to get into the Horror spirit, but right now I'm especially buried in tv shows as well as a Sword and Sandals mood.
Saw Pearl, which was fine if you want to watch Mia Goth try to flex her acting skills for 2 hours but kind of a drag if you wanted to watch a slasher. It was fitting that Ti West made X in the vein of a 70s exploitation movie, but considering this was set in 1918, I didn't quite get the 50s vibe.
Had a rewatch of Psycho showing it to my girlfriend for the first time. She was disappointingly unmoved by the shower scene and called the Norman twist immediately. But she liked it.

I dvr'd "X" so I guess I'll finally get around to watching it. Haven't watched "Pearl". Apparently they are making a movie called "Maxxxine" set in the same universe or something.

Big Ass Spider! (2013) A giant CGI spider wrecks havoc in Los Angeles.
Damn those horror movie bugs. When they're not exposed to toxic waste, they're exposed to meteorite radiation. Or in this case it's a military scientific experiment gone wrong. Of course I knew what I was getting into, and the movie doesn't pretend to be anything else than what it is. It's campy ridiculousness, and it knows it. But I have seen worse, and I did get a kick out of some scenes. The spider attack sequence in the park was a hoot. There's a cool scene where the arachnid sprays acid in a man's face causing it to slowly melt (Raiders Of The Lost Ark, anyone?). So it is better than the average big bug movie, but only slightly.
One thing that did get on my nerves was the exterminator guy; he's supposed to be this likeable hipster, but he really comes across as an irritating doofus. And we get the usual stereotypes and caricatures, such as uptight and incompetent military personnel.
Think I'm gonna take a break from the big bug monster movies for a while.

Catching up a bit. Saw Jeepers Creepers Reborn which was a fucking nightmare. Half the movie is shot in green screen so it looks like a Nostalgia Critic sketch. The acting and characters are atrocious, the main guy sounds like he's trying to do asmr the whole time. The film also gives us the immortal line "How do you like them peepers, bitch?"
Also saw Bodies Bodies Bodies. It reminded me a lot of Unfriended in a bunch of obnoxious assholes mainly arguing with each other the whole time, only with much better actors. The twist, which is like the punchline to a 90 minute joke, redeems the thing.

So far I’ve done nothing but first time views and I think it’s time to switch over to some rewatches. It’s been fun, but I need some of my favorites.
