The impression I get from Falcons fans is that Arthur Smith is very safe. (just trying to steer the conversation as far away from the Colts as possible) General concensus I've gotten is that the Falcons over achieved this year. Were expected to be in the #1 overall draft pick category and the fact that Smith has gotten them to as many wins as they've gotten to tells me he gets at least one more year for sure. Now if you listen to a fantasy analyst they will complain how horrible he is because he can't get Kyle Pitts enough points. Yep the Falcons did overachieve this season, I thought they would be as bad as the Texans. I think Arthur Smith is doing a decent job, the Falcons just don’t have a lot of talent and are lacking at QB.

Hackett is done after that Broncos performance. Yeah, Russ stunk - but they're stuck with him no matter what.

Hackett got the chop. A Black Monday indeed for him - fired before the end of his first season and that's WITHOUT off-field Meyer-like scandals.

Sounds like Paton could be on thin ice, too. Openly stating that the new HC won't be on the same page as the GM going forward - what could go wrong?

Personally, I thought the trade for Russ was a disaster. In 2021, it looked like Wilson's abilities were beginning to fade. Damned silly to give up that much for a 33 year old QB who was coming down from an off season.

Could we see Sean Payton and Tom Brady in New Orleans next year?Sean Payton jokes about he and Tom Brady getting “another team in trouble”My only question (other than "come on, really?") would be why Payton would want to work with Brady at this point? You can partner with Justin Herbert, Kyler Murray, Dak Prescott etc but instead you're going to coach Tom Brady at 46 years old? Brady, while not wholly responsible for the Bucs' crappy offense this year, at least shares some of the blame. Why make the assumption that Brady will just be great again as he heads into his late-40s? Yeah, yeah, "don't write off Brady" and all that, but at some point, he's going to stop being the Brady we know.

Yeah, yeah, "don't write off Brady" and all that, but at some point, he's going to stop being the Brady we know. I would contend that Brady has most of the blame in Tampa. His wishy-washy retirement and unretirement, not showing up for the preseason, going to his former boss's all-nighter wedding reception two nights before game day; it reeks of lack of commitment to the team, and that absolutely has a trickledown effect. They've had questionable coaching, dealt with injuries, all stuff he's handled before. He just doesn't care as much, and it shows. Sideline tantrums aren't the same as giving 100% before the season/in practice/in the film room, all that stuff. He's on autopilot this year and he wonders why his team is falling apart? And if I'm wrong, that simply means he's gone off the cliff. Either way, that hardly seems like a guy you want to bring in to get you over the hump.

It's a question we'll be asking forever. You can argue he didn't like the media leaking news of his retirement and he wanted to stick it to them. Is that a good reason to unretire and half-ass the season? I just don't get it and I'll never get it. What was all this for? To prove he could still play? Who was doubting him coming off an insane comeback in the playoffs versus the Rams? His insane passion for football? He hasn't shown any of that this year.

profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/02/report-jim-harbaugh-will-jump-to-the-nfl-if-he-gets-an-offer/Yet, as I recall, Harbaugh was shocked and appalled that he was actually expected to interview for the Vikings job; he thought he'd simply be handed the position just by turning up. Harbaugh is being linked with Indy and Denver. Can't say much until it happens, but if he does land with the Colts, doesn't seem like we'd vault up the list of the most popular teams judging by the number of times I've seen "fuck Jim Harbaugh" posts on this board.

Come back to NE, Kliff! We need an OC with a modern understanding of football! I had no idea he was on the Pats' roster in 2003. Even got a ring! Meanwhile, here's what I and probably most football fans will remember about his Cards tenure:

Old news but Lovie Smith gone from Houston - they didn't even wait until Black Monday. He was hired to fail, then failed to fail at the final hurdle, losing the Texans the #1 pick in the process. Here he is on his way back to his Chicago home, even more beloved by Windy City locals:
