I was listening to the Quran at work for educational purposes and on the drive home I was not really paying attention to the radio and then right when I did start paying attention there was a comedian talking about how he was raised in Islam.
I was probably just a coincidence, but it freaked me out. This is not a channel where religion is typically brought up and then one of the few times I hear it brought up, it is Islam 10 minutes after I was listening to the Islamic Bible with many parts saying that Allah has given signs that it is true.
It honestly gave me pause.
I am an atheist who was raised Catholic btw.

I don't know much about Islam. I would need to read the Quran and the Hadiths and then look up what Sunni and Shia are and then judge which one correspond more to my reading of the texts.

Read what the Koran says about science and you'll be back to normal.

The fact that coincidences happen often, this one was just a bit stranger than usual.

Shias believe that Ali was the true heir to the prophet, Sunnis believe it was Umar and Abu Bakr. Shia imams dress in black, Sunni imams in white. Most Muslims belong to the Sunni school. Shias practice temporary marriage (called Mut'a in Arabic), what many would call another term for prostitution. You can rent someone to be your wife (or husband) for a limited period of time. Shias defend this practice saying that Muhammad did it and it's for people who are unfit to get married.

Shias defend this practice saying that Muhammad did it and it's for people who are unfit to get married. Wouldn't this imply Muhammed was unfit to get married? Well, as the story goes and as I understand it, Muhammad apparently believed himself that he was mentally ill when he supposedly had his revelation in the cave. Then his older wife told him that he wasn't and that he had revelation from Allah. There are theories circulating that he was an epilectic. Muhammad had something like 11 wives and additional concubines. A Muslim man may have up to four wives as per Qur'an S. 4:3 (and female captives as sex slaves on the side, Qur'an 4:24).

Also, Shias venerate Muhammad's daughter in exactly the same way that we Catholic & Orthodox Christians venerate the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lord's Holy Mother.

In Jesus’ time and culture, not being married was an unnatural state for a man to be in. His duty to his Jewish tribe and nation was to produce a family.
