7/10I seen the trilogy before. They are 3 grotesque films. Part II is easily the nastiest of the three. This time I seen Part II in color. Most versions of this film are in black and white. The color version is more disturbing. Many discard these films as trash but for me they are highly effective suspenseful body horror films. This film works for me in a very disgusting way.

CITY OF THE DEAD 1960 -- Always a good one for October (or Candlemas Eve) with a lot of atmospheric black and white photography and a UK cast putting on fake American accents (it fooled me).
CIRCUS OF FEAR - 1966 - Another one I revisit now and then. A crime film rather than horror though. Coincidentally both were directed by John Moxey and had Christopher Lee in them.

Demonoid(1981). A silver hand found in an excavation is actually possessed by an evil demon. It can travel from hand to person, and does, seeking to possess Samantha Eggar, who found it in the excavation. Stewart Whitman is a priest trying to protect her. 5/10.

Return of the Fly(1959). The son of the Fly is grown up and carrying on with his fathers work, with similar results. Not as good as the original, but this time the Fly does kill some people. 7/10.

Vincent Price is funny in the Return of the Fly. He tried to warn the guy not to do it--and then he sees the same results. The bad guy in that one was a REAL SOB.
THEATER OF BLOOD 1973 -- This is not one I watch often. It is just an uptown version of Dr. Phibes. You have the fiendish revenge schemes and an assistant, the police tagging along, but with a lot more dialogue for Price.

Demon Wind (1990) Demons, Zombies, magic, and almost no logic. 3/10.

Village of the Damned (1960) Intense drama of a group of children of mysterious paternity in an English village, with mysterious powers, powers that are growing stronger and more frightening by the day. 8/10.

You're Killing Me (2023) 2 HS senior girls accidentally uncover some incriminating evidence against some rich kids and have to fight for their lives. Would've been better if both sides weren't so incompetent. 4/10.

3/10Pretty lame Exorcist wannabe minus the stuff that makes The Exorcist great. Nice to see Tatum O'Neal again though.

10/10 A favorite of mine I upgraded to Blu Ray and watched again. A excellent and highly entertaining horror/thriller.

2/10A extremely boring and highly unnecessary prequel to The Exorcist. Oddly enough its directed by Renny Harlin who directed Nightmare on Elm Street 4 which is my favorite Nightmare film.

FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN 1967 -- My favorite of the Hammer Frankenstein films and perhaps the most gothic fairy tale in sensibility of all the Hammer horror films--it is like a twisted version of Cinderella. The three hooligans are so cruel and yet witty. That terribly mean-spirited song that Anton serenades Christina with. And Peter Cushing's Frankenstein is the most likable in this version. It is funny that when he is court he is flipping through the Bible in boredom.
MALENKA - FANGS OF THE LIVING DEAD 1969. Wasn't good (and they commit the great sin of burning a really nice Anita Ekberg portrait--how could they do it--I am assuming it was an original painting) but has a few visual assets thanks to Ekberg, Diane Lorys, and the other bar maids. The amazing castle interiors and cinematography are what really stand out though. It is really nice how this is photographed. Too bad the story is terrible.

The Boogeyman (2023)
Basically, The Babadook if it had been made by Blumhouse. Uses every cliche going, I switched off after an hour as it was so boring
3/10

FRIGHT NIGHT 2 - Haven't seen this since 1990. It's not remotely close to the original and suffers from a meandering script. The ingredients are there but just handled without the combo of humor and horror and pacing. Brad Fiedel helps, and the cast is good--Traci Lin is alright--she reminds me of Gretchen Corbett in a way. Julie Carmen was a very good choice for the sister of Jerry Dandridge but she doesn't have much to do and her character lacks humor. One thing that surprised me was the werewolf is played by Jonathan Gries--who was the wolfman in the Monster Squad. Too bad it wasn't more focused but I have seen worse sequels.

Dracula Has Risen from the Grave(1968) One of Hammers better Vampire movies, even without Peter Cushing. 7½/10.

Swamp Thing(1982) Simplistic plot and script, but it's not unpleasant watching Adrienne Barbeau run around in a swamp for 90 minutes. 5/10.

SCREAMTIME 1986 -- A UK horror anthology film with a New York wraparound story. I had seen it before, it is well-directed and acted but the stories are just terrible and without irony.

Blood Sisters of Lesbian Sin(1997) aka Sisters of Sin. Troma. Watched this based on the tempting title and, much like many of the VHS movies I used to rent from the video store based on their packaging, it didn't quite live up to expectations(surprise!). There was some nudity, most barely incidental to the plot, a little Vampirism but more witchcraft, and only the slightest tease of Lesbianism. And not surprisingly, the plot, script and acting weren't particularly good either. 3½/10.
