I'm just sick of the nonstop days over 105 degrees (41 C) and that it doesn't get below 100 until 9 pm, no matter how far I look ahead in the forecast. Constant heat warning alerts, red flag fire warnings, and I fully expect my A/C to crash at any time. That's not changing in any of our lifetimes now. Huzzah!

Then again, bet you never got 77 inches of snow in 24 hours

Nothing... I have become zen 🙏 Destroyer of worlds. I don't think I am a destroyer of worlds 🤷🏼♀️ I expect I would have noticed if I was... On the contrary, I perform acts of kindness to all God's creatures I encounter. I can't change the world, but I can change the world for each of those souls 🙏

The power button on Catman's personal emergency response device has a little light that blinks every few seconds. Apparently that's supposed to reassure the user that the device is working, but Catman finds it annoying.

There's a church not too far from my home that always has those goofy messages on the sign out front. You know, "It's hot outside, but Jesus is still cool," stuff like that. I don't mind that. But I drive by the other day, and the sign says, "Your story is still being written. Stop trying to steal the pen. Trust the author." What the fuck? Full disclosure, I'm an atheist, but whether or not you believe in God, this is the shittiest advice I can imagine. "Stop trying to take control of your life, just go with the flow. Make a bad decision? Not your fault, and don't bother trying to rectify things. Accomplish something? All credit goes elsewhere, you're just the passenger here. Diagnosed with cancer? Do not seek treatment, maybe you live, maybe you die. All part of the plan. You did nothing, your life means nothing, you're a cog in a machine." And here I thought God gave us free will?

In today's world, it still amazes me how many people actually think there's a mystical magical man in the sky who gives you things you spend your whole life telling him how great he is. Then again, we live in a country where 70 million people think a grifting, racist, sociopath is a great person. I guess nothing amazes me at this point on second thought.

Here's a sports gripe: people labeling players "mercenaries" for chasing money. Uh, don't we all do the same thing? Are you going to turn down a massive raise at another company because of your "loyalty" to your current employer and the love of your clients?

Clients not putting on their 'out of office' message when they are on vacation.
The majority of clients that I contact - I reach out by email. And, for a good chunk of them, if they are out of office, I will get a bounceback message - saying so. And, more often than not, they say to reach out to in case of anything pending. I am MORE than happy to do that.
But, for the ones that I DON'T receive a message from, I can only assume that they ARE in the office.
And, if I don't hear from them, I follow up with a call the next day.
When I do call, I get someone else - saying "oh.....he/she is on holidays this week".
Well....how am I supposed to know that?!

Joker's Wilde I have something of the inverse problem. I will put up my OOO, but when my clients get the auto-response, they'll just start texting/calling me and saying they need something immediately. Fun fact - they never need something urgently, they merely want it urgently. Massive difference. I'm not a heart surgeon, lives do not hang in the balance of me being at my desk or not.

Joker's Wilde Or the other side of the coin - lawyers, accountants etc failing to return my messages. I get pretty worked up when conducting my affairs and expect a prompt response to my inquiries. Look, I understand people are very busy and I'm not their only client, but if nothing else, I expect at least a brief acknowledgement that they've received my email. I'm not trying to be unreasonable, but they're pretty quick to get on me if they need documents or whatever, so I expect the same courtesy. What I don't like is being flat-out ignored. I had to deal with a lawyer pretty extensively from 2021-22 (NOT a criminal defense lawyer, don't worry guys!) and I definitely sent more than my fair share of emails, follow-up emails etc. Sometimes I'd get an "out-of-office" auto response, which is fine. Just don't ignore me. "Don't turn your back on me - I won't be ignored."

Okay, I'm not that bad. If I get an auto-response, it's actually more of a relief than anything. Like "okay, I don't have to deal with this until they get back." It's only when I don't hear anything back that my issue suddenly seems unbearably urgent.

Failing to at least give a "Hey, got your email, I'm at a ______________ all day and will get back to you tomorrow" is inexcusable. Unless the client doesn't pay the bill. Then I'll get back to them when I damn well feel like it.

And, in my OOO, I have email addresses and phone numbers for the client to reach out to in my absence. Then, when I'm back at work, client will call - asking if I got their email. I did, but I was out of office. My OOO message would have instructed you to send to another address. If you didn't see it, that's on you - not me. AND, when a client marks EVERY message that they send as "high importance". I would say... 98% of the time, it's NOT of high importance. Joker's Wilde
