I have something of the inverse problem. I will put up my OOO, but when my clients get the auto-response, they'll just start texting/calling me and saying they need something immediately. Fun fact - they never need something urgently, they merely want it urgently. Massive difference. I'm not a heart surgeon, lives do not hang in the balance of me being at my desk or not. Same. And, in my OOO, I have email addresses and phone numbers for the client to reach out to in my absence. Then, when I'm back at work, client will call - asking if I got their email. I did, but I was out of office. My OOO message would have instructed you to send to another address. If you didn't see it, that's on you - not me. AND, when a client marks EVERY message that they send as "high importance". I would say... 98% of the time, it's NOT of high importance. Joker's Wilde Then there are those self-important shit birds who require read receipts.....on every single email.

For us, I think it only works internally. I have sent read receipts in the past - only because I want documentation that the message WAS read. However, more often than not, I don't get a confirmation that it has been read. Joker's Wilde

I mentioned in the "Watching" thread that I'm currently rewatching The Shield. Anyway, I've owned the DVD boxset for years, but my first watch was via computer about ten years ago. Now I've finally started using the DVDs. This is by far the worst-designed boxset I've ever encountered - from the way the disks are presented to how they're stored. You literally have to pull and bend some of the disks to remove them; they're also kept with half of one disk blocking the disk underneath so you have to force out the top to access the bottom each and every time.
The digital age of entertainment streaming has its pros and cons for sure, but at least we don't generally have to deal with crappily packaged boxes like this anymore.

Not a grievance as I don't own the boxset, but The Shield is one of my favorite shows pf all time. I honestly can't think of a show that had a better pilot & a better finale. The pilot totally drew me in and the finale was perfect. There also weren't any crap episodes. Almost every other show there were drags in seasons or episodes where you thought, wtf was that? The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, & The Wire were all probably better as a whole collective, but episode to episode, I think The Shield is up there with the best. Not to mention I barely knew who Michael Chiklis or Walton Goggins were before that show and they are both great. What annoys me lately? Youth sports parents. I coach my son's 11U football team. Been the head coach since flag started at 5 & 6 and tackle at 7. It seems like every year the parents become more and more insufferable. That or I just have lost all patience after dealing with it for 7 years. Probably a mix of both, to be fair. They all think their kid should be running the ball. Then when we are in a blowout, I put their kid in, give him the ball, and he gets destroyed. You'd think they wouldn't want that but nope, how come he didn't get a carry this week? Well, because we won by one score and did you see what happened to your boy last week when I gave him the ball vs a crap team? He might've died if I gave it to him vs this team!!!

Gas prices dropped like a rock here last night. Station was packed, 3 cars waiting each pump. Behind a lady doing pre-pay, had issue, walked to the cashier. I turned off my ignition because not giving up my spot. 7 long minutes later she comes out, probably had to wait in line to pre-pay inside. Finally finishes. Goes to her passenger side. Gets her phone. To take a photo of her pump/low pricing. Because none of us are waiting all night for our own turn just to get f'n gas.
My fav part - she was masked up. Outdoors. Lone isolated at the pump.
Finally I got up, & out, & blurted a Fuck This aloud to no one in particular.

Went to get gas the other day, and some jack wagon at another pump is just sitting there watching this woman in front of him like a creep. I think he was trying to hit on this lady, because she's standing there taking selfies, and instead of going to another pump, he just sat there staring at her for a while. She must've told him to take a hike, because he eventually drives off without getting gas, but not before yelling "Fuck This!" to the lady just minding her business, trying to ignore the stalker behind her.
People these days.

So there I was taking selfies at the gas station when some guy yelled “fuck this!” while some other dude sat typing away on his phone - perhaps to report the proceedings. Both were wearing Pats caps.

Not to mention I barely knew who Michael Chiklis or Walton Goggins were before that show and they are both great. Absolutely - an incredible show that managed to get such a compelling over-arching story out of the "corrupt cop" premise. Watching it again, I've forgotten so much of it that it's almost like getting to experience it all for the first time. The best part is that the last few seasons (particularly the final season) are the best so I have a lot to look forward to. It's emblematic of my favorite era of entertainment - the 00s decade. That period of time was the golden age of prestige TV with The Sopranos, Deadwood, The Shield, Six Feet Under, The Wire, Rome, 24 (maybe "prestige" is pushing it with that one), and so on. Even the likes of Mad Men and Breaking Bad technically aired their first few seasons in the 00s. But this is supposed to be a grievances thread - Game of Thrones pissed away its legacy with a truly awful final season and the next book is no closer to being finished today than it was 12 years ago!!!

Doesn't annoy me, I'm too zen to be annoyed 🙏
But what I think is cheeky is 'shrinkflation' that companies and shops are now doing... To pull an example out of my arse... A 100g bar of vegan friendly dark chocolate you enjoy sometimes is the same price as usual. Later at home, you realise the 100g bar is now 80g for the same price.
Just be honest. Put the price up, don't try and con people.

The plot thickens: "Your package is being held in our depot." They make it sound like some kind of hostage situation. "We're holding your package. Help us kill President Palmer or else." Should I call Jack Bauer? Today I received a new one-hour delivery window. Ten minutes in, I get a message saying: "Sorry, we missed you. Your driver won't be back today." I even got photo evidence of my driver "missing" me: an image of the outside gate. If only he'd called me, I could've walked outside and helped him with this obstacle. That would've been sensible, no? This courier was unable to advance past a chest-high wooden gate with the latch on the other side. I can only conclude that he's one of the aliens from Signs. I’m going through something similar. I was waiting on a package that was marked “out for delivery” yesterday. It never arrived. So then I get this update message that says “waiting for delivery scan”. Huh! As if the delivery guy had it ready to deliver but decided, nah! I’m not gonna do it. I’ll just hold it hostage. Now I get another update saying “marked for Saturday delivery”. What is this crap?!? Knowing a little bit about this industry though, sometimes if it’s a new courier (or not too bright one) and they start falling way behind in the route… they’ll just pretend like they couldn’t find your house or were impeded from delivering it to finish on time. Then they’ll take it back to the station and try to put it in with the next day’s delivery. If they keep giving you “no delivery” excuses day after day you may have to call the station.
