Having seen both SMB and FNAF, I can safely say they're more mediocre than the Marvels, so if they succeeded despite lack on content I don't see why the Marvels is being sneered at. As I said earlier in the thread, the movie is fine. It didn't fail at the BO because people thought it was terrible, it failed because nobody cared about it. Marvel has put out too much middling content lately, and MCU stuff doesn't feel like 'an event' the way it used to. Especially when audiences know they can catch it on streaming in like six weeks, if that. Its failure, along with all of the Disney stuff lately (all of which I've enjoyed by the way) is notable because that stuff used to be a box office juggernaut. Truth is, almost everything underperformed at the BO this year, but people don't write hit pieces on Fast & Furious movies because nobody gives a shit. Marvel and Disney can get back on track, but first they have to focus on quality over quantity, and not releasing new content on Disney+ until, I don't know, six months after its theatrical run at least. The bold part, I'm 100% on.

And why were you compelled to copy them? Because no one had took sadistic pleasure in going after those movies compared to this one. Still seems rather absurd to defend something you don’t even think is good. Especially when your defense is so extreme that it leaves no room for any actual fair-minded criticism. Unless you are fine with Marvel making movies that are between mediocre and good…

I don’t know why they put these movies on their streeeaming platforms so soon. They are shooting themselves in the foot and hurting the box office of their own movies. It’s ridiculous

Youre saying that you think Phase 1 and 2 are between good and mediocre? Why are you even a fan if you think that? Who in their right mind would spend so much energy defending a franchise they don’t think is even good! You’re blowing my mind here, Sam.

Wow, this hasn't even broken $200 million worldwide yet, and it has been in theatres for three weeks.

If there's anything positive that could be taken from this is that Marvel can learn from this and do better.

I can look back and appreciate something from the past while knowing it wouldn't do well now. That happens to lots of films.

I'm gonna wait and see how well it does on streaming. If it does, then it proves D+ is part of the problem.

Why is it sad? What are you talking about? That it's only been 15 years and most of Phases 1 and 2 are already outdated to the point they wouldn't do as well if they were released now. Sobering.

There is no getting around it, the movie is a financial failure. I don't see it doing very well on streaming, either, given the poor viewership for Secret Invasion and Ms. Marvel which this ties into.

The Marvels is lucky it didn't released this week. GTA 6 trailer released would have hurt it even more.

Secret Invasion really had nothing to do with this movie, mainly because it was supposed to be AFTER the Marvels and not before it. There's barely any connection except maybe that bit with the Skrulls losing their Refuge planet (which fits more as the precursor to Secret Invasion).
Ms Marvel getting low views but high ratings is fine, that's how Breaking Bad started.
