Is The Minus Man horror, or just thriller? Owen Wilson as a serial killer sounds interesting.

It's a bit of a headscratcher, because it avoids any obvious choices and remains so elliptical and vague, that at the end I wasn't even sure, what the hell I had watched.

Fair enough, I'll watch it before or after the challenge then. Was also thinking about revisiting Robin Williams' dark turn in One Hour Photo.

I was looking at the list of completed dates for the challenge over the last few years. And I found it interesting everyone always seems to complete the challenge around the same dates every time. Yeah, I always skidded into last place on Halloween, if I finished at all. This will be the first year on imdb2 I participate without being in a committed relationship so I'm expecting to do better.

Question for you fine folks here. Would the following be considered horror for the sake of the challenge? The Haunted Mansion (2023) - Family horror count? Four Flies on Grey Velvet (1971) - IMDb just lists this one as a crime film and as I haven't seen it I don't know if it is a full on Giallo or not. VFW (2019)
The Predator series - or are they too much action/sci-fi instead? I just want to check before I throw them in.

Still horror, even if aimed for a younger audience. Four Flies… is giallo. If IMDb lists Cat O Nine Tails as horror. I’m dumbfounded why Four Flies isn’t. The Predator series is a slippery slope. The original, I can see it. The second film I’m 50/50. Wouldn’t bother me either way. But the rest… probably moves away from the genre. Therefore a slippery slope. Although maybe you could argue the Alien vs Predator films?

I kind of felt the same about Predator series (but I've only seen the first three) so I'll hold off on them till November. The other two I'll now add to my watch list.

Actually would be curious to read what other folks feel about the Predator series. I might add, I had forgot all about the latest Predator film ‘Prey’. Still haven’t seen that one.

I love the first Predator, liked Predator 2 a lot, the rest of the sequels were meh to pretty good...LOVED Prey. So i recommend the series as a whole but definitely the first and latest entries.

From what I’ve seen, The Predator was the only one I disliked. That even includes AVP Requiem I really should get around to watching ‘Prey’. Would you label any from the series as horror or horror-related? I thought the first two could be argued as so, especially the original but kinda moves away from it with Predators and The Predator.

Gonna add some kid's horror to the mix this year. A couple of Scooby-Doo films should fit the bill.

The first and second I’d label as horror enough. The ones including xenomorphs are also horror, more because the xenomorph is scarier. But yea Predators, The Predator and Prey don’t really feel like horror.

As the asshole who counted Beetlejuice one year and Ghostbusters the next, I say, yeah fuck it. Count them all! Personally, it wouldn’t bother me if Bettlejuice or Ghostbusters were watched for the October challenge. Even Scooby Doo animated movies. They’re horror-lite, maybe leaning towards comedy over ghoulishness, but still I can see the fun watching these films around Halloween. And you can get the kids involved with the October challenge! Start ‘em young. However a couple years back someone questioned if ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ could be counted. Now that would be pushing it. Sure you could bend the rules, but nah, that’s breaking them
