Ettore Scola is an underrated director. Rohmer, too, mostly for "The Sign of the Leo" which is a great movie, but I've only known a few who have seen it, including fans of his.

I'm honestly not the biggest fan of Sign of Leo, very much in line with other "new wave" debuts, but probably my least favorite of the four I've seen (I'm woefully behind on Chabrol). I prefer his later signature light romantic dramadies. I posted my personal full ranking of his work in this thread
