Ronald “Mike Trout” Acuña. All kidding aside, this injury has the potential to land him in Eric Davis territory. Davis was a monster before injuries derailed him in his 30s. This is the 2nd serious knee injury he has suffered.

There's nothing better in baseball than picking up some random guy off of some other team and having that guy suddenly become really good. It feels like the Dodgers were able to do this for the longest time with Max Muncy, Chris Taylor, Justin Turner, etc.
Padres got this guy named Jeremiah Estrada off waivers from the Cubs.
In his last five games, he's pitched 6.2 innings. He's allowed one hit over that time . . . and struck out 18. Two of those games were against the Braves and one against the Yankees, where he struck out all five batters he faced. He has struck out the last 13 batters he has faced. He has a 0.55 ERA this season and now is leading into Robert Suarez whose ERA is 0.73 for the season.

Paxton is done for the day after 3 innings? Fire Dave Roberts!!! There's no reason to burn your pitchers at all when facing the Mets. Just throw the bullpen catcher out there and have him throw BP. They'll score 3, mayyyyybe 4 runs if the Dodgers make an error, but otherwise they'll roll over everything and play with the fire of a 90 year old hospice resident.

Don't know their "bullpen budget", but could have used an opener instead of wasting a good starter.

Mets fans go nuts for Ohtani's HR Gotta cheer for something! Although at that point in the game, it was probably all Dodgers fans anyway.

Wow. Just......wow.
OK, just to clarify one thing, I don't think Jorge Lopez said the Mets were the worst fucking team in the MLB, it sounds like he actually said he was the worst fucking teammate in the MLB if you listen to the audio. Of course, the story is already out there and the damage is done, but details matter.
Now that's out of the way, they ARE the worst team in the sport. Not because of how terrible they have been playing, not because of their record, not because of the fact that in 7 straight series they dropped the first two games, not because in 10 extra inning games this year they have scored the ghost runner a whopping total of 2 times (which is astonishing), not because they suck in basically all facets of the game with the caveat of the starting pitchers being mostly good.
No, they're the worst because they don't give a shit. They are free-falling and whenever a veteran like Alonso, Nimmo or even the purported leader Lindor, are asked about it they all say the same thing - "we are better than this, we just have to play better." Bullshit. For 200 games now, this team has sucked. They are listless. They are idiotically constructed, with no backup infielder right now, and a platoon between two young guys who need to be starting every day but aren't. Starling Marte might be the worst outfielder in the NL. They gave Diaz a total of one inning to "right the ship," an inning where he looked just OK, and then immediately put him back in the closer's role, where he blew up before getting injured.
They are a boring team to watch. And I've seen some boring teams in my day.
Why is Jorge Lopez even given the opportunity to give that interview? The Mets PR team is repeatedly hiding players from reporters after games like that, and when interviews are given, someone from the PR team is there. In this instance, nobody was there, the team's interpreter wasn't there, none of his teammates were there to put an arm around him. Nothing. This team doesn't care, the players don't care, and honestly, I'm at the point of not caring. That's the most damming thing I can say about them.

Does the value of that glove he tossed into the stands increase or decrease now that he's been DFA'd?

Like when you buy art from someone when they're alive and then sell it immediately after they die.

Like when you buy art from someone when they're alive and then sell it immediately after they die. But he wasn’t exactly a Picasso or Rembrandt as a pitcher. He was more like me drawing the Iron Maiden logo on my high school binder.

Padres infielder Marcano banned for life for betting on games. Four others also banned for a year. Morons. Marcano was the only one dumb enough to bet on his own team.
