So far the reviews are mixed, but one of the rotten reviews did say it is better than Bevery Hills Cop III. "This was definitely better than part 3 but doesn’t come close to the energy or enjoyment or even entertainment I got from the first 2 films. It was great to see Eddie back as the character but this franchise has passed it’s expiration date for me." www.rottentomatoes.com/m/beverly_hills_cop_axel_f

I'll watch it when I get the chance to, i.e. with my Mom.

Do you all think it will be better, worse, or on par with Coming 2 America?

I just watched the second one for the first time a few days ago, so I’ll probably watch this so I have an excuse to skip the third one.
The second one is good, but it’s only because of Tony Scott. The first one is not good imo and how it became one of the most successful R rated movies of all time is a mystery to me.

This was his breakthrough as a leading man.

Eddie Murphy was huge at the time. Him and Joe Piscopo carried SNL in the early 80s, Trading Places and 48 Hours were big R-rated successes already and he had his first comedy special around that same time. The Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay is a bit baffling though. I like the first BHC, but I don't think the screenplay is anything special. What makes the movie work so well is the cast and the soundtrack.

Eventually sure, but not tomorrow. Not that I don't like BHC, it's just I have a very large backlog I want to get through, and don't like things jumping the queue unless it's something I'm very excited for.
I'd like to be in a spot where I feel "up to date" with everything and can watch everything day 1, but I'm not there yet.

The direction is awful in the first as well. I also don’t like the soundtrack at all.

probably will watch but the fact it is a Netflix movie gives me apprehension. I feel even talented people when they make Netflix movies, feel they don't have to make anything good or even looks cinematic.

That’s exactly what the first one is imo. Most would disagree, it seems.

A fun action comedy starring an actor on his way to superstardom. In a way it was the first of it's kind as well. It was one of the first major buddy cop comedies.
