Just finished watching the opening ceremony, on tape delay and fast-forwarding through some bits. Wow, I was impressed. Great idea to do it in the city and not in a stadium. It worked out really well! Of course Paris is Paris, I don’t know if there is any other city in the world where the same concept would have worked so well. And that ending with Céline Dion singing Edith Piaf from the Eiffel Tower! I am by no means a fan of Céline Dion, but I had goosebumps! I knew these games would be great with Paris as a backdrop, and they started off with a bang. Shame about the rain, but it was still a spectacular show.

Anyone else loving the cross-country horse racing course at Versailles?

The opening ceremonies had there highlights and some lowlights, but the best thing they did was to move it out of a stadium and use the city itself as the stage. That was spectacular, and though some of the issues with it undoubtedly came from that decision, it was still awesome to see it done that way. Very unique, but clearly should be the standard when one of the world's great cities is hosting.

Anyone else loving the cross-country horse racing course at Versailles? I haven't seen that - but the Beach Volleyball in front of the Eiffel Tower is spectacular. I thought the location that Rio chose for Beach Volleyball (not only a real beach, but one of the most famous in the world - Copacabana) was never going to be surpassed, but I was wrong.

I saw this the other day and I agree, what a sensational spot!

I forgot to mention that! It's awesome. Next I want ping pong in Napoleon's tomb.

The Chinese Volleyballplayer Yuan Xinyue (2.03 m). Whoa. Not too often I seen an Asian lady who's significantly taller than me.

The triathlon event has been postponed because of bad water quality on the Seine. There is a possibility that it will become a duathlon instead, without swimming. I guess it is too late for a Plan B at Cannes or something.

The US women's rugby team won the first medal for US rugby in 100 years in a wild less second victory over Australia.
Crazy stuff. Happy to win one, but those Ozzy broads were devastated.

3x3 Basketball is an Olympic sport. Y'all gotta be shitting me. A gold medal for this made up kids game? What's next, Miniature Golf? Beer Pong?

They say it's all the rain over the last few days putting a lot of nasty runoff into the river.
