Here we are with the latest table ahead of an international break courtesy of the Nations League. Again. There'll be another break one month from now for the same reason and another one in November as the slog of pathways and back-doors and seemingly pointless international games gets underway in the name of competitive friendlies.
On the domestic front we spoke last week of Everton's struggle and it didn't get much better with them giving up a two-goal lead in the final minutes last week to go down 2-3 at Goodison to a disbelieving Bournemouth. So can they finally get off the mark (and stay there) v Aston Villa? The other team on zero points is Southampton and they won't get a better opportunity of bagging three points than meeting a dodgy looking Man Utd in Saturday's lunchtime set-to on the south coast.
But United aren't the only side fluffing their lines early on; Chelsea, Tottenham, Palace (who finished strongly last season) cannot be relied upon so far while others like Forest, Brentford and Bournemouth all find themselves in the top half of the table, all of which doesn't help with this predicting business. So good luck with that.
Current champion SDM reasserts some authority by leaping to 2nd and also scores a bonus on the sharpshooter range.
