Hi. Anyone want to discuss the sequel to the first Halloween movie? (it's pretty decent)

Love it. One of my favorite horror sequels. "You don't know what death is!"

Like some others here I don't appreciate the Laurie/sister plot twist. Michael was more scary and interesting when he was killing for the sake of killing. Hospital setting wasn't a particularly inspired choice and it also takes aways from that special "Halloween night mood" that I like so much in these films. The hospital scenes also drag a bit.
Besides these complaints it's a good movie overall and certainly an above average addition to the slasher genre. Why it didn't do much business at the box office is a mystery to me.

You know Harold will kick your ass for getting blood on his ham sandwich! Don't mess with Harold!

My favorite sequel. Love the creepy hospital setting, the chase scenes and kills are phenomenal.

I just watched it again after so many years (maybe decades?) and my opinion hasn't changed: it's a completely unnecessary sequel. While it's a competent and well made slasher film, it still pales in comparison to the first film. Disappointing ending, too.

Hated the film, everything from Jamie Lee's obvious wig (looks nothing like her hair in the original), down to the assorted deaths (scalding in a therapy tub?), to the shadowy hospital setting--the darkest, most empty hospital I've ever seen--to the rather obvious and heavy-handed attempts to link Michael and Laurie as sister and brother, and the absolute ruination of Halloween's great ending scene: Michael isn't the boogey man, after all, he just gets up and walks away after falling from the balcony.
Saw this only once, two days after Halloween in 1981. Never saw it again and don't plan to

All kidding about Harold aside...and I do love Harold. I'd say Halloween II is my favorite slasher sequel of all time. It does have some outright silliness in it...and some really lame-brain ideas though. Still I enjoy it for what it is. And there are many slasher sequels that are so much worse than this. At least some thought went it it....albeit drunken thought...but still.

Halloween didn't need a sequel, IMO.

I know I acted like I hated it and called it garbage on more than one occasion, but that was done mostly to get under the skin of a certain waste of space that hung out on the Halloween/Halloween II boards.

Halloween didn't need a sequel, IMO. I agree. I think it ended perfectly. I like how it leaves it up to the viewer to decide what happened to Myers. Did he crawl away and bleed out? Did he get up unfazed and walk away? Is he on his way back up the stairs to take care of Loomis and Laurie?

Did he get up unfazed and walk away? Is he on his way back up the stairs to take care of Loomis and Laurie? Or did he just disappear into the netherworld, like the real boogey man? Halloween II ruined all of those prospects. He just got up and walked away. Wow.

They're his life!

I actually used to be a fan, but re-watched it after many years back in 2015 and was brutally disappointed. The 1978 movie is a haunting masterpiece, whereas this sequel was simply a by-the-number early 80s slasher. Season of the Witch was better.

They're his life! I've seen him tell quite a few people that he was done. He said he took too much abuse. Of course the delusional idiot still thinks none of it was deserved. In a way I could see him staying away because I think the thought of starting over and not having that "tenure" that he had may keep him away. You know how he loved to hang his hat on how long he was at imdb. But you're probably right. It may not be for a few months but he will probably come crawling back in acting like he owns the place.
