Better event and why? Me. Tennis. Late August/Early Septemeber. College and Pro Football is right around the corner. Atmosphere of night time play in New York under the ligths. Weather is slowly starting to change a little cooler. Great atmosphere. My favorite of the 'Slams'. 1-0 Tennis. Go!

Tennis because it's a better sport. i completely agree. to each their own. we all have different tastes. i just never 'got' golf. nor did i gravitate towards any of the personalities that played it. i love listening to McEnroe on commentary (both brothers) as autumn is approaching and the weather is getting cooler. watching that atmosphere under the lights in New York. can remember growing up watching it on USA late at night as summer winded down into the first week of school..........

You can really appreciate just how incredible they are at the sport and how tremendous they are as athletes. Watching it on TV is practically an injustice in those regards.

I suck at it, but it's fun to go with friends/colleagues and just enjoy being outside. Plus, I get business out of it almost every single time I go so there's that.

I never appreciated Tennis until I picked up a racket. Probably around age 18.

Well, someone has to stand up for golf. I play golf and have played since I was a wee lad. As far as the tournaments go, golf being played at different venues every year adds to the fun. Plus, I get to see the winner crowned in 4 days instead of having to wait 3 weeks. That's a huge difference to a short-attention-spanned old guy. [biggrin]

[biggrin] I enjoy watching golf on TV more than NASCAR and the NBA (and probably at this point, the NFL too). I guess that would make it my 4th favorite sport to watch behind Baseball, Tennis and Hockey in that order. I've never seen a pro golf tournament in person though. Bethpage Black is pretty close to where I live and it's fairly well regarded from what I understand.

Sport: Includes all forms of competitve physical activity or games, which through casual or organized participation, aim to use or improve physical ability and skills while providing enjoyment to the participants, and in some cases, entertainment for spectators.
Golf is a sport, there can be no argument otherwise.
I only watch the last weekend of a tennis tournament. I can enjoy all 4 days of a golf tournament.

do you regard golfers as 'athletes'? By definition labeling golfers as 'athletes' is somewhat debatable. They can be called athletes is you go by the definition that a athlete is a person who participates in a sport, exercise or game requiring physical skill. Golf definitely requires physical skill.
