How? Most of the so-called contradictions I've heard of are just personal perception issues and not contradictions at all. * The opening crawl on A New Hope clearly states that the Rebellion scored their FIRST victory against the Empire that battle was seen during the climax of Rogue One... but yet this so called canon cartoon has Rebels winning battles every other episode. Although they are referred to as rebels, in SW: Rebels these are small divided factions and rebellious independents. The Rebellion Alliance isn't fully formed until the events of Rogue One. So in that since it does not contradict the opening crawl of ANH. I don't see how that contradicts canon. It's obvious Lando hasn't joined the Rebellion in TESB. But there's nothing that says he never helped before on occasion and it's obvious that he is well aware of what the Rebellion is in TESB. Not to mention his activities in SW: Rebels is more like business dealings that happen to serve as aid to them. Not joining the cause officially. In addition to that remember Han Solo's comment about Lando in TESB - "He's got no love for the Empire I can tell you that!" So I see no violations or contradictions here. This is where they really flirt with contradicting canon by creating the Inquisitors. But through some technicality loopholes you could say they've escaped violating canon. Tarkin does say Vader is the last of "that religion", but it's in the context of talking about the Jedi. And Vader used to be one. And as far as the Inquisitors violating the Rule of Two, you could reason that the Emperor made special exceptions. There's actually some canon basis for this. Those pale skinned aliens with purple clothing and big hats that followed the Emperor around in ROTJ were Force users. They were like a Force cult who used it to see and predict the future. The Emperor spared them because they claimed to foresee his future successes and conquests. And he used them in that capacity. Again another area that they're walking a fine line when it comes to contradicting canon. Technically Ezra is not a Jedi, he is still apprenticing. And we don't know his fate other than it's very likely he either dies before the events of Rogue One or he abandons the Force. There's even the possibility he turns to the Darkside. On the issue of Luke's importance being minimized, that same episode where ObiWan meets Ezra; they identify Luke as being the Chosen One. They also make it clear that ObiWan is there to protect him. All of that is in harmony with Luke being portrayed as the Jedi's last hope throughout the OT.

Just finished season 2 and was a bit disappointed by the showdown between Vader & Ahsoka, I want Vader to justify why the Jedi needed to be destroy and citing how they treated Ahoska and evidence towards this - that and not showing Ahsoka properly dead.

So, the prevailing opinion supported by Filoni is that she is alive.

He is the Harriet Tubman of EU canon, sneaking shit across the line via Underground Cartoon Railroad while nobody at Disney (or even Lucasfilm) is paying particularly close attention. Nal Hutta, Falleen, Thrawn... Edit: Dathomir, the Mon Cal planet and political situation, various other Clone Wars planets/species... just off the top of my head!

Just finished season 2 and was a bit disappointed by the showdown between Vader & Ahsoka, "Twilight of the Apprentice" was epic IMO. They could've gone that direction. But that might've increased the episode from 2 parts to 3 parts. To fully explore that narrative Vader would've probably had to have kidnapped Ahsoka and taken her back to the Emperor. The Emperor would've been more focused on that narrative and spent more time on the argument given he helped mastermind and manipulate the circumstances that caused Ahsoka to leave the Jedi. Justifying the destruction of the Jedi to Ahsoka based on the way they treated her would be part of Vader's mindset. They seemed to acknowledge that when Vader said "We need not be enemies..." But he seemed to suggest leaving an argument of persuasion to Emperor Palpatine when he says "the Emperor will show you mercy." Also at work in Vader is his intense hatred for anything or anyone who connects him to his past life as Anakin Skywalker. I think Filoni chose to show that this was the more dominant mindset in Vader. He goes on to say to Ahsoka "Anakin Skywalker was weak so I destroyed him!" Soon after that his entire focus seemed to be on destroying Ahsoka rather than defeating her and perhaps delivering her to the Emperor. There's a brief cameo scene of a faint, distant figure walking through a doorway of the Malachor temple. It happens in the montage of final scenes, and it appears to be Ahsoka. This suggests that she is still alive. (Although some have speculated that the scene is metaphorical and it means that Ahsoka has gone on to the Force ghost netherworld). It's been left open ended as to which interpretation is the right one.

They perhaps could've had a couple of Vader & Ashoka encounters across the season so they could've tackled those issue - although this is likely a personal preference argument. Overall found season 2 a bit repetitive, there was a lot of blaster battles with Stormtroopers in hallways, still was nice to re-visit different Clone Wars characters - Rex, Hondo, Chum Syndulla & Maul - Come to think of it would've liked an encounter between Vader & Rex. Surprised Maul knew who Ahsoka was, I don't recall them meeting in TCW, and I do need to pay attention when I re-watch Twilight of the Apprentice for the Ashoka surviving hint.

I personally liked how they used him, and his organ theme was spot on. I approve that they "saved" him from the de-canonization purge which is Disney's version of order 66.

I've been wanting to watch this show, but they never put it up on Netflix. I liked Clone Wats and heard some good things about rebels.

Although they are referred to as rebels, in SW: Rebels these are small divided factions and rebellious independents. The Rebellion Alliance isn't fully formed until the events of Rogue One. So in that since it does not contradict the opening crawl of ANH. Yes it does contradict the opening crawl "It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships , striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire." And if you really want to split hair, the Rebel Alliance was fully established on Yavin since the later half of season 3 and they're still scoring victories against the Empire every other week. He doesn't have love for the Empire doesn't mean he previously took arms against the Empire to aid the Rebels. He didn't like the Empire because they were a threat to his business dealings. He didn't officially become a Rebel until he helped Leia and Chewbacca escape Cloud City. The Emperor spared them because they claimed to foresee his future successes and conquests. And he used them in that capacity. At least we somewhat agree on some of these issues. Tarkin was clearly referring to force users in general hence Vader's "Don't under estimate the power of the Force" to him...... And even if Tarkin was referring to the Jedi in general, in Rebels, Tarkin clearly knows of Kanin and Ezra existence and their activities. As for the Emperor's aids, no movies has ever denied or confirmed that they are force users. * Jedi knights fighting for the Rebellion during A New Hope era. Obi Wan clearly states the Jedi is ALL BEEN extinct but a recent episode had old Ben meeting Ezra? Also no matter how contradicting having all kinds of Jedi in Rebels, it also minimizes Luke's importance during the Original Trilogy. That's just to list a few.Again another area that they're walking a fine line when it comes to contradicting canon. Technically Ezra is not a Jedi, he is still apprenticing. And we don't know his fate other than it's very likely he either dies before the events of Rogue One or he abandons the Force. There's even the possibility he turns to the Darkside. So when Obi Wan told Luke that the Jedi are ALL but extinct ... what he really should have said was they are all but extinct ... except for this little green guy on Dagobah and this blind hippy Jedi and his Padawan that I recently met and has been aiding the Rebellion scoring lots of victories against the Empire despite me telling you that this is the dark times? I'm sorry but I don't buy it.On the issue of Luke's importance being minimized, that same episode where ObiWan meets Ezra; they identify Luke as being the Chosen One. They also make it clear that ObiWan is there to protect him. All of that is in harmony with Luke being portrayed as the Jedi's last hope throughout the OT. But it doesn't clear up the contradiction of Jedi fighting for the Rebel Alliance and scoring victories.

And if you really want to split hair, the Rebel Alliance was fully established on Yavin since the later half of season 3 and they're still scoring victories against the Empire every other week. I see your point but technically it's still open to interpretation. The Rebel Alliance is not fully formed until the events of Rogue One. Before that only separate factions are formed. It also says "striking from a hidden base". So it's not specific as to what base is scoring it's first victory. It doesn't mean he didn't previously take arms either. And once again, none of his actions in Rebels official involved him in fighting in the Rebellion or being a member of it. No movies onscreen. But it's canon. "All but extinct"... well you want to see it the way you're seeing it. And that's okay. But we don't know if any of the force using characters will be alive at the end of Rebels. Except for Vader, Yoda, and the Emperor of course. (Personally I don't think that they will be. This series will probably end darkly). So all but extinct would still apply to moment in which the comment is made. Again you could argue that none of them are true Jedi. They're Light side force users following the Jedi way to a degree.

What did you think of Thrawn? At least they kept his personality the same. Yeah. And to their credit they did fly in Zahn to consult and gave him the new book deal. Too bad they didn't let him at least take a stab at Episode VII. If I'd just bought SW and wanted to do a sequel trilogy he's the first guy I'd call after Lucas himself.

I liked the show when I watched it but my interest in it waned. I wasn't a not a big fan of them bringing back Darth Maul. Plus the look of the show isn't very appealing.
I like Star Wars so I'll probably binge watch it to finish it one day.
