Perhaps I should let you pick my YouTube videos from now on. That was one of the best I've ever seen.
Strangely, several hours ago something reminded me of Rev 3:19, and it's something that many will not understand. Of the seven churches, Christ had praise for two, criticism for four, and one He rejected, but He did not put them down in a hole that was impossible for them to get out of if they wanted to.

An analogy of the crucifixion of Christ. It's astonishing to me that anybody would think that what that judge did would be considered justice. Are we seriously to believe that the family of the victim will be satisfied that justice has been served so long as somebody dies for the crime? But that it doesn't matter at all to them who it is that dies? Are we really to believe that this family will say "Well it is a tragedy that our family member died, of course. But at least we have the consolation that an innocent man was punished for the crime, whilst the guilty man walked free." There is a reason that no judge would ever be allowed to do such a thing in reality - and that any judge who tried would be regarded as horribly corrupt and unfair. This video sets out to justify a central aspect of christianity, but in reality all it does is highlight just how downright evil that aspect is. |

He claims that by passing the sentence, the judge satisfies justice. And then by taking the sentence upon himself, the judge satisfies love.
But when he takes the sentence upon himself, he ceases to satisfy justice. It would be morally identical to pass no sentence at all and simply let the man go. In fact it would be MORE moral to do that since it would avoid an innocent death.
