Does it really matter? they are all very overrated like animated movies of that type generally are around here. they are nothing special to say the least. You are one of the funniest posters on here. By all accounts, you have absolutely terrible taste in movies and yet you act like you are some kind of professional film critic. The Toy Story trilogy is one of the best trilogies of all time. That includes any films. All three are pretty much masterpieces.

It's close, but I'll go with Toy Story 3.

DSDSquared I dis a film series you like and then you assume my overall tastes in movies are crap because of that? ; this sure seems to be the case. I doubt my tastes in movies are that much different from many people out there. I think it's safe for me to say this is a fact as we are all going to vary some in our tastes in movies, as that's just the way it is, but I am just not the type to praise plenty of movies simply because the vast majority of movies are nothing special. hell, I am pretty sure there are some people around these IMDb2 forums that have overall worse tastes in movies than myself assuming we judge someones tastes in movies based on how close they are to mainstream or not as it's pretty safe to say my tastes are more mainstream than some around here. basically when it comes to Toy Story and the like... I generally see movies like Toy Story as kids movies as animation simply is not as interesting to watch as movies with real people in them. that's just the way things are for me personally. but masterpieces? ; no way. VERY few movies are worthy of 'masterpiece' level as that's a word I rarely use. some people fling the word 'masterpiece' around a bit too often (which you see on TV commercials fairly often etc) and when that happens the word loses it's intended effect. your film critic comment towards me... I never said or act like that at all as I always said I simply can't write like a pro film critic can etc etc. but like I always say I ultimately rate movies based on how much I enjoy watching them and the further they get away from that the lower the rating. only 187 movies out of the 2,200+ I have seen stand out from the pack. some people are too easily pleased with movies if you ask me as the vast majority are nothing special and my ratings reflect that fact as they simply don't interest me to a higher degree and I rate them accordingly.
p.s. but we have basically had this conversation before... ill say something negative about a film series you apparently like a lot and then you dis me and then I reply with similar stuff to what I said above but, as usual, you ignore me and then mention that my tastes in movies suck again, which is simply not true given what I said above. hell, I don't even think I could honesty say your tastes in movies suck as for me to form some kind of reasonable opinion on your tastes in movies, in comparison to mine, I would have to see a wider range of what you think stands out from the pack and then see how it compares to myself just to see if I think your tastes in movies sucks on a personal level. but even if I personally thought your taste in movies sucked, it might still be decent enough when comparing to the masses etc.

I also like how many of the things that the Prospector says foreshadow the events of part 3, like when he asks Woody if Andy will take him to college with him, or when he says that all toys are going to end up in some landfill. Jessie's story and the way it is told via the song "When Somebody loved Me" is really heart-wrenching, and probably my favorite sequence. Yes, I see your point about some of the silliness that you found annoying. But then there's a little bit of that in all three of the movies. My gripe with the first movie is that Buzz also "plays dead" whenever there are humans around even though he doesn't believe that he is a toy. Buzz freezing in the presence of humans was definately a major plot hole. Funny thing is, they could've addressed it as an involuntary "toy instinct" or something like that. But then of course the ending with Sid wouldn't make any sense. That's very perceptive of you, Misstique--I never even noticed that glitch. But something just now occurred to me that might explain it--Buzz was "programmed" to fit in/blend in with the "natives"--the equivalent of "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." Maybe he figured that he would get along better if he followed the local customs, even if he didn't always understand the necessity for doing so. Incidentally, I happen to agree with you: I, too, consider TS2 the best of the trilogy; in its superior quality, it is to that series (for me, anyway) roughly what The Empire Strikes Back is to the original SW trilogy.

All three are great, but the first is still my favorite. For one thing, Sid is a way better villain than Stinky Pete and Lotso (who are practically the same character). It's also our introduction to this world, and I love bitter Woody and delusional Buzz - in fact, this is the only film where Buzz really has a character arc.

My only real complaint about this trilogy has always been that Buzz just isn't an interesting character after the first movie. He has some great comedic scenes but no character development at all.
