Some people like mindless reality shows. Some people dislike the godfather. Sounds like you enjoy getting sh*t on. Different strokes...

It was good that the first season had only seven episodes. It allowed viewers to get some perspective of the primary characters.
After that, it could at times be slowly paced, but that usually led to some piercing and/or really surprising/exciting scenes.
The acting was tremendous on just about all counts. Tuco and Fringe stood out among the villians, and Mark Margolis was superb.
And they rapped it up perfectly.
Not as good as The Wire and Deadwood, but a truly superior making of a TV series.
I might have just convinced myself to watch it for the fifth time (as I mow know which scenes to scan through, which are mostlty scenes between WW and his wife).

If you're still in the middle of the first season, my advice to you would be to skip the rest of Season 1 and go straight to Season 2 because that's when Breaking Bad really hits its stride. From Season 2 onward it is truly one of the best shows television had to offer. Just my two cents worth.

It's one of the best shows of this generation. I'm sorry you couldn't enjoy it. I gave up at episode 5 Like gopher said, it really kicks into gear in season 2. Great acting, great writing, I waited until the series conclusion and binge watched it. I had a hard time going to bed at night because I wanted to know what happened next. Of course no show is everyone's cup of tea. Right now I put it in the top 2 on my list. I am in the process of watching Deadwood and I am in season 2, but at this point it won't dethrone my top 2.

I didn't think the show wasnt much above average until about the 4th season. First three seasons were good, and definitely good enough to keep me watching, but I didn't really consider any of it great until it got to season 4.

I binged watched the whole series about 2 years. It was okay, but I didn't think it was anywhere near as good as some make it out to be. It had some great episodes and performances, but overall I didn't get the massive praise it received.

Everyone says it's amazing. Seemed average. I'm not sure how many episodes you watched. For the first few episodes I disliked the show. I didn't care about the characters and was going stop watching. It took several episodes for me to get hooked. Then, I was glad I stuck it out until the end.

I think word of mouth of any kind can hurt a show. When you hear how amazing a show is you go in with high expectations that probably are not going to be met. I never tell anyone anything I saw was "the greatest ever" because I'd just be setting that person up for disappointment.

I don't get it either. Having seen a few episodes, I just couldn't stand it. Yes, different strokes for different folks, but when people start to act like it's the best thing since sliced bread, it's just annoying.

I felt the same way on my first viewing. Around episode 4-5 I just wasn't feeling it, it seemed super slow and I wanted to quit it, but my friend nagged me to keep going. I'm very glad I did. The show starts on a slow burn, but just increases in tension every season, imo it's a masterpiece of storytelling.

i thought it was a great series, in terms of acting and other aspects, but i lost interest early in season 4, it just didn't seem to really go anywhere and to me at least, it just felt like it was the same old thing happening all the time, but that's just how i felt watching it, it doesn't mean other people are wrong about it, but it is just my opinion
I would say it's a 7-8 out of 10 show for me personally
