And that is up from initial reports of 13 mil, a fantastic start for the film amidst all the outstanding reviews. It also brings into question the initial box office that was projected between 90-110. The 15.4 million is very close to the 15.6 million Iron Man 3 made in route to a $174 million opening weekend, so it will be interesting to see what happens. The buzz is loud and it's all ages type of film.
Now the relevance to Wonder Woman is two fold. WW has had an amazing hold so it will be interesting to see what happens, but so far Spiderman has just hit a 25% higher opening day with equal to slightly better reviews, so what if anything will that mean in the long run? Also what if anything does it mean that the 6th film and 2nd reboot is still able to generate that level of support over a film that was billed as the one everybody was waiting for?

And reviews continue to soar now up to 94% on RT.

I know you mentioned Wonder Woman, but this still belongs on the MCU board, not the DCEU board.

And the story says it could go higher by tomorrow's counting, nearing a $15 million Thursday night opening. A fantastic start for the film amidst all the outstanding reviews!!!!

a fool's assessment. If one of the top 3 superheroes primarily aimed at kids is not able to outgross a female-lead origin movie (after a history of flops) like WW this would be very, very surprising.

What happened to how iconic WW is? What happened to the claim that people were worn out of Spidey reboots and it was the 6th film?
A 26% higher Thursday opening for a 6th film, 3rd reboot, that opens just 4 weeks after the best DC film so far?

Well WW has held up extremely well and is certainly the best DCU film so far, all of which is true. And I also know the weekend isn't over and that in the long run WW has a really good chance at doing better in overall box office. And that's all fine, BO is just a stat line to follow.
But I did find it a tad amusing that one of the characters DC fans think is so iconic, who just had by far and away the best DC film, who "ushered" a new era of female centric films, just had her opening Thursday beat convincingly by over 26%, by a film series on it's 3rd version and 6th film in just 17 years, and which was coming off one of the most poorly reviewed films ever.

No, I was making a direct comparison to Wonder Woman.
I do find it a little interesting that with all the hype of WW, that just a month later a Spidey film of all things that people were a little nervous about comes along with equal or even better reviews and massively outperforms by over 26% on opening night.
Now as I said in the OP, WW held up amazingly well, and it may actually wind up outdoing Spidey in the long run, but this is an impressive result when you compare the two.

15.4 is massive for a new Spidey solo. It's all about context. What's massive for one movie may be terrible for another. Did you really need that explained for you?

it is all that, you just commit your usual bandwagon fallacies (which is ok for a guy like you). I am not a DCEU fan mind you, but WW is a milestone, that has actually something to say about the horrors of war, unlike any MCU film (I have seen so far). It is not about lowbrow laser battles in WW II, or about about the size of raccoon turds or even about the suffering of an infertile woman feeling like a monster for it, and wishing to hide the zucchini... Spiderman may make billions, but as just another play it save kiddy re-reboot it will be forgotten soon as it should.

If anything it treated war like it was just 20 or 30 guys in a ditch.
If you want a film that actually says something about war, go watch Hacksaw Ridge or Platoon or Saving Private Ryan

Spider-Man 2 (2004) made $40.4 million on a Wednesday when it opened, and that was considered a new Spider-Man solo at that time. $15.4 is not massive. You might be trying to make it look like it is, but it's not. Try posting this noise in the MCU forum.

It's pretty massive considering it's 33% higher than expected and more than 26% higher than WW, which of course was a massive hit and deservedly praised. So yes, it's massive for a 6 films and 3rd series.
Like I said, it's about context, and it certainly has a shot at equaling the $783 total of Spider-Man 2. Are you just trying to come up with stats to be disagreeable with?

How much of that money goes into your bank account? Why would you even care? It's petty and silly.

The points from my football team scoring don't go into my bank account either, but I still enjoy it.
I mean really, these types of responses are so silly.

I could make $4 on a deal that I though I would make $3 on and that would be 33% more than I expected. That doesn't mean that my $4 earnings is massive. You don't define massive by percentage increases. Massive would be exceptionally large, and compared to other films (SWTFA, SM2, LOtR, BvS, AAoU, et. al.) $15.4 million is not massive. It's not that much more than films like Man of Steel and Wonder Woman.

you must have fantasized about opening new threads about whether "Gal Godot gets banged in costume" again, as you seem to have missed parts where an entire village is wiped out, and WW fighting the god of war himself, which is to be taken as as an allegory. Deep, dark and gritty enough for an CBM. But don't you worry, friend! As they say: The turd is always floating at the shallow end of the pool. And recent MCU endeavors are rife with turds and shallowness. Have fun with it.
