Generally, I don't feel embarrassed about liking songs even if I am told they are uncool, but there are a few exceptions: "Heaven is a Place on Earth" by Belinda Carlisle, "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler, and "Mandy" by Barry Manilow.

I remember my mind being blown by Heaven Is a Place on Earth every time I heard it when it came out.

Okay, let's not take the subject literally. It just means a song that's widely disliked that you happen to like for one reason or another. Me?

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. Near universal pick as worst Beatles song, but I think it's just what you need for a good old knees up.

The story is that Lennon despised it and stormed out of the studio while they were trying to record it. He returned, knocked out a quick passage on the piano, and exclaimed, "There's your goddam opening!"

People gave mixed reviews to Heart's tribute, but I thought they did this classic song justice:

None, I got over that when I left my teens behind. There should be no such thing as a "guilty pleasure", like what you like, even heavy metal.
