Wow new kids on the block. I respected you so much before I read this post too. j/k I have worse than that on my list I bet I love a lot of boy band (and girl band, for that matter) stuff, but I don't know New Kids on the Block very well. For one, I love most soul/R&B/funk etc., as well as disco and a lot of other dance music. So Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, the Supremes, Jackson 5/Jacksons, Spinners, Four Tops, Pointer Sisters, etc. etc.--I absolutely love all of that stuff. And then I also dig Destiny's Child, New Edition, Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, All Saints, B*Witched, etc. It's just that some groups I'm not very familiar with, and New Kids on the Block is one of them. I also don't know the Spice Girls very well, or One Direction. I wouldn't doubt that I'd like any or all of them. In recent years--the last few decades more or less, I typically become familiar with artists by personally diving into their discographies, and I haven't gotten around to it with New Kids, One Direction, or Spice Girls yet. I just know those two songs that mszanadu posted. So you're into the oldies and the motown stuff. My parents love a lot of that stuff. That's a pretty diverse mix. Generally I am not exposed to any of the newer music. Some of the 80's stuff I know from going to roller rinks, but since then I don't know the mainstream music much. But the good thing with youtube these days is you can check out pretty much anything you want and just buy what you like. I like a pretty wide variety of music myself. I hope nobody gets mad at me in these threads. I like to make fun of people sometimes lol But that's what these threads are for right? To post the things we're ashamed of and have people make fun of us for it and to make fun of other people.

I actually wasn't a big fan just thought those 2 particular songs were quite catchy & fun for back in the day and were ones that would make my previous list here already . So here are 2 more to add to my list also - CeCe Peniston - Finally CORONA - The Rhythm of the Night So jayhn1111 what are some of your catchy tunes for this thread here ?

Barry Manilow - Could It Be Magic (original 1973 album version, unreleased on CD)Excellent choice here Dramatic Look Gopher . I really liked the piano intro and alike ending to this one also - very relaxing . IMPO - Barry Manilow has a unique work that is very deep - the musical part of his songs can sound and seem to be relaxing or upbeat but the lyrics can be heartbreaking or tragic at the same time too quite the versatile yet very underrated musical artist for his time - then and now as well . Thanks so much for sharing this one with us here too . I have to agree with that. Even though I never really owned any of his stuff, the guy really does some amazing and special kinds of music I also didn't have a single album of his either but his well known hits were played on the radio especially the easy listening stations all the time back in the day too .

So you're into the oldies and the motown stuff. It's unfortunately no more of an oldie than I am. ;-) So I don't really think of it as "oldies." To me it's just music of my youth.

Yeah those are the 2 that most people know actually. I was surprised to find out that the new kids on the block went on tour and had all these people in their 40's that were reliving their nostalgia days at the show. That's always nice when that happens. I'm blocked from video right now, but some time in the course of the evening I will try to come up with at least a few really embarrassing songs I like

Sorry didn't mean to imply that you're an oldie lol. That's a big part of what music is about in my opinion. Music takes us back to all the good times we remember.

Yeah my mother is a fan and has some of the albums so I heard some of it growing up just around the house in addition to the radio. I like some of the easy listening type of stuff sometimes. And great in doctor's offices too. It relaxes us before an unpleasant visit

I totally agree here - Motown was so excellent and so many great bands and solo artists were from that memorable label back in the day too . I'm also not familiar with any of the really new music or musical artists of today either just the particular songs and bands etc. that I either grew up with or heard along the way in my earlier adulthood over those years as well . Thanks Terrapin Station and jayhn1111 for mentioning this also . PS - To Terrapin Station - New Kids on the Block were one of the very first Boy Bands of the 1980's & also into the 1990's also .

Those are great songs. I love Heart! And Eye of the Tiger never gets old too. and Oingo Boingo! Aren't they great with the movie tracks But I don't see anything you posted as embarrassing. That's like cruise down the road and stop at a red light and blast those songs with pride

That's like cruise down the road and stop at a red light and blast those songs with pride I'm very glad you approve of my choices here jayhn1111 and appreciate the classic feel of these 1980's songs as much as I do here as well . IMPO - I think we should change the word " Embarrassed " to the phrase " crazy nostalgic fun " here instead .
