They come to prey on my mother in law who doesn't speak great English.
They send the Filipino Jehovah's to talk to her in Tagalog.
Last weekend I made an impassioned speech about the internet and how people can look up any religion they want to nowadays, making their home visits redundant and unnecessary.
I told them how nice my mother in law is, how she would get me to tell them she wasn't home because she didn't want to be rude. I told them she should not be put in that position.
I finished up by stating 'I don't want you to ever come back here, EVER. I need to know you hear me.' The lady nodded but the guy was staring off into space so I had to say 'Sir, I need you to look at me and nod your head that you heard me say that I never want you to come back to this house EVER'.
I got rid of the spiritual letches.
I am a hero.

My mom (and most people in her generation, I guess) would always offer food to any who came in the door.

I was still not overtly rude, just crystal clear in my desire for them to not come back to my house. It never helps their case that I invariably know more about their 'religion' than they do.

I invariably know more about their 'religion' than they do. And you're modest too. I suppose there's a history to some stories. I didn't understand the animosity toward Ada because I didn't catch most of the history to that story. In those days who had time to read the whole board?

I'm sure they get told to piss off a lot by rude and arrogant people who have a pathological need to humiliate them, so they are probably used to it. It's a good job the bible teaches them to turn the other cheek.

You weren't good enough to tell them what your irrational problem is with them and they aren't going to risk her life on your demands. People often mistakenly think telling JW's off is an indication they are refuting them or proving them wrong.

Ada is very stupid, and a terrorist apologist who has a single-minded hatred of America. 👍

It's a good job the bible teaches them to turn the other cheek. Actually, from what I understand the more rude the ignorant unsaved heathens (us) are to them the more merit they will receive in Heaven. That's why I'm generally not very rude. Even this time I feel like I was more blunt than rude. If anything, the guy staring off into space pretending he wasn't hearing me was the rude one. Don't come to my house and interrupt my day to tell me about your stupid cult then IGNORE ME!

The only reason my mother in law would ask me to tell them she wasn't home is because they would not leave her alone. They know she doesn't speak much English and is at a disadvantage, so they try to prey on people who aren't assertive enough to tell them to get lost. That is being intentionally rude and taking advantage of someone where they live to push your cult on them. What kind of clueless idiots can justify that kind of behavior? THE INTERNET IS THERE NOW.. IF I WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR CULT I CAN DO IT WHENEVER I WANT. No need to be disrespectful to people by dropping in uninvited. It's only the Jehovah's Witnesses that do this shit.. I guess I might have to get a sign that signals them out and put it up on my property.. Even though I've told them not to come back. You have to have zero respect for someone to disregard what they said to you and still push yourself onto their property to take advantage of an old Filipino lady.

Are you retarded?
Their history proves them wrong. Look it up on the internet, it's laughable the the JW church still exists.
Brainwashed cult members are not worth debating with.

My mother in law never lied to people about the end of the world to get money off of them.
She is a nice person.

My mom (and most people in her generation, I guess) would always offer food to any who came in the door. Thanks for sharing this info, Arlon. The custom was same in my grandmother's house. And the next generation couldn't follow. But similarity of values of two different cultures is good to know.

Just last spring, it was reported in the newspaper, that the Ahmadis went door-to-door, to give off pamphlets, & talk to people about Islam.

Scientology is considered an even worse cult, & yet, they still exist!! Regarding your telling them not to come back: Whenever a home owner tells JWs, etc., not to return, they make a note of it, & write it down for others not to visit that particular house. However, it is only on for something like 5 years or so (probably do the fact, that they know people sometimes move away, or something).

Well, I'm glad the Mormons don't come to my house. I guess I need to put up a sign specifically for the Jehovah's Witnesses. They probably sell them bulk somewhere. It's insulting to have people who know fuck all about religion come to your house and try to lecture you.

That said, when you consider all the terrorist atrocities committed by Wahhabis in recent years (the most recent being the attacks in England just a few months ago), having someone come knocking on your door, to solicit their religion, is just a very minor inconvenience.

You can always find something worse. All the terrorist atrocities committed by Wahhabis are a minor inconvenience if you're tied up in a basement having your fingernails pulled out. ...and being tied up having your fingernails pulled out is a very minor inconvenience compared to some other things I could mention. That doesn't mean that it isn't rude and obnoxious to bother people at their homes (dinner hour) to feed them some religion they could easily get on the internet if they were interested. I don't mind when they stand on street corners like spiritual prostitutes, at least then they're not knocking on your door.

But I never have to think about Scientology because they don't bother people in their homes. They might be a destructive cult, but at least they have some common sense manners.
