I'm in the mood to watch a made-for-TV horror movie. Anyone have recommendations? I'm especially wanting one on YouTube, as it would be the easiest to access, but I'll take any others you might like.
Thanks!

Dark Night of the Scarecrow (1981) That one was both creepy and very well acted/made, far better than many of the bigger budget horror releases of that time.
I'm Dangerous Tonight (1990) I wish this film would get a decent DVD version, as I remember watching it several time late at night on a Scandinavian TV-channel and I had no clue it was a TV-movie. Not that is was great, but I thought it was a enjoyable and cool horror/thriller film, and that is directed by Tobe Hooper and stars Anthony Perkins and MΓ€dchen Amick in the main parts. Have not seen it since 2004-05 but it might be worth a while for horror fans.
I will have to come back later on, as I am sure there are many other fine TV-horror films I have seen/own, but cannot think of at the moment.

I'm old school, so here are some of the ones I like:
Snowbeast (1977) Devil Dog: Hound of Hell (1978) The Night Stalker (1971) Something Evil (1972) - you should check out this one, it was an early effort by none other than Steven Spielberg.
All of these are on YouTube, or at least one time were on there. Hopefully they still are.

A couple lesser known;
"Deadly Lessons" (1983) - A fairly entertaining made-for-tv slasher with quite a strong cast; Diane Franklin, Donna Reed, Bill Paxton, Larry Wilcox, Ally Sheedy, Nancy Cartwright, Reene Jones and Krista Errickson.
"Death Train" (1978) - A very quirky, old-school horror mystery with possible supernatural undercurrents led by a captivating Hugh Keays-Byrne (Toe-Cutter from "Mad Max") performance.

'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark'(1973). It ws on youtube. Made for TV. Popular enough they made a bigger budget vastly inferior Hollywood remake. That's one of the scariest movies ever.

Ghostwatch. The Stone Tape. I'd never heard of Ghostwatch until a year or two ago, and it's a pretty terrific piece of work. It's probably the closest thing to an update of the Orson Welles radio play of War of the Worlds that exists. I'm not sure how seriously people took it at the time, but it's presented as a live TV special and I could totally see people of the time being freaked out by it. It's pretty awesome.

People took it seriously on the original broadcast. It freaked me out until it went too silly. A fella was so scared by it he committed suicide.

Some of the old Tales of the Unexpected episodes are worth seeking out.

A fella was so scared by it he committed suicide. Wow... well that's a little extreme. If that was indeed the only reason then perhaps he overreacted.

The most entertaining part for me was Sylvia Sidney. You heard her voice right away. Hilarious.

Thanks! Well, I don't know if you're still in the mood, but this particular sub-genre happens to be my favorite. Here's a nice start for ya! And the last time I checked, they were all on YouTube. "The Initiation of Sara" "Summer of Fear" "A Howling in the Woods" "The Spell" "How Awful About Allen" "Die Sister Die" "Death Cruise" "Amityville Horror IV: The Evil Escapes" "Paper Man" "Along Came a Spider" "Out of Contention" "Home for the Holidays" "Midnight Offerings" "The Screaming Woman"

Damn. I could see it having an impact, but again, that's a bit extreme. No movie has ever made me kill myself. Not even the remake of The Wicker Man.
