To paraphrase Tom Hanks in A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN: 'You're killin' me, Doghouse, you're killin' me!' Perish the thought. It could only have been the morbid nature of my last three examples that inspired such a figure of speech. Let's leave things of that sort to someone whose mind is preoccupied with them, like little Tootie Smith as played by Margaret O'Brien (sister to Lucille Bremer and that other up-and-comer Judy Garland) in Meet Me In St. Louis.

Careful, or I'll unleash both of my Margot Kidders ( Sisters) on you! Gosh, that sounds so harsh. To make up for it, how 'bout some Natalie Wood, Ann Jillian, Morgan Brittany and Diane Pace ( Gypsy) to entertain you, along with a surprise appearance by Ginger Rogers and Harriet Hilliard ( Follow the Fleet) for a dancing and singing finale?

There's an element of truth in that, Doghouse (as Winona Ryder says to sister Christina Rocci in MERMAIDS).

I'm about dried up; may be time for a brief Holiday (Ann Harding & Mary Astor, or do I mean Katherine Hepburn & Doris Nolan?).

Tri orísky pro Popelku , Three Wishes for Cinderella (1973) Czechoslovakia directed by Václav Vorlícek This wonderfully entertaining film version stars Libuse Safránková as the title character, a young woman who is put upon by her stepmother and her ugly and demanding stepsisters. The film employs an original twist, though, when the handsome prince comes knocking. Cinderella does not just simply fall into the prince's arms. In this socialist Czech tale, he must actively pursue the young woman who is a skilled sharpshooter prone to wearing hunting outfits. Cinderella also has three wishes at her disposal, gained from three magic nuts... not just for the kids...

Macskajáték , Cats Play (1974) Hungry directed by Károly Makk A profoundly touching story of passion, love and loyalty, tells the tale of two elderly unmarried sisters who exchange letters in which they share their love and hope, and through brief flashbacks we see wistful glimpses of their younger years.
