Az én XX. századom , My Twentieth Century (1989) Dorota Segda stars as twin sisters Dóra and Lili who were born in Budapest in 1880, at the very moment that Edison’s wondrous electric light-bulb is unveiled to the world. After their mother dies the twins support themselves by selling matches in the street. When they fall asleep one night two men take their matches and, after a coin flip, each takes a girl and go their separate ways... Now separated the sisters’ lives follow radically different paths, one grows up a naïvely idealistic, bomb-toting anarchist, the other a pampered, hedonistic courtesan. By chance they meet once again on the Orient Express on New Year’s Eve 1899… This is a dazzling multi faceted film, the turn of the century setting portrays the birth of modernism, a daring world of revolutionary ideas and inventions that promised enchantment and inspired wonder, a compelling backdrop to the personal lives and the fate of the twin sisters...

Chained for Life (1950) a film partially based on the true lives of the Hilton sisters, who also star. Vivian and Dorothy Hamilton are conjoined twin sisters who work the vaudeville circuit together, they are portrayed by actual British born conjoined twin sisters Violet and Daisy Hilton, widely known from their appearance in Freaks (1932) On many levels a cheaply made exploitive B film, but however the film earns respect for the genuinely sincere portrayal of the personal inner struggles faced daily by the twins due to their condition/disability, it is a fascinating if somewhat sad glimpse into the sisters lives which were continually exploited and abused.. A unique twist on the tale poses and leaves us with a difficult ethical question, Vivian has been charged with murder, should Dorothy be unjustly punished for her sister’s crime?, or should guilty Vivian be able to walk free on account of her sister’s innocence?...

This morning I watched The Sisters with Bette Davis, Errol Flynn, Jane Bryan and Anita Louise. It's been years since I saw this one. Bette suffered one disaster after another. Her sisters were pretty background draping. Nice bit by Lee Patrick as the friendly hooker next door. A bit better was The Gay Sisters with Barbara Stanwyck and Geraldine Fitzgerald. Both movies are pure soap but were still enjoyable.

Little Women-Janet Leigh, June Allyson, Margaret O'Brien, Elizabeth Taylor as Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, respectively. I prefer the 1994 version, pippin, but I do enjoy watching this one just because of the cast. I like the 1933 and the 1994 versions. Clare Danes didn't have much to do until Beth's death scene which always leaves me numb.

I just watched June Bride (1948), with Betty Lynn and Barbara Bates as "Boo and Jeanne, the Brinker sisters."
There's also Sisters (1972), with Margot Kidder playing separated Siamese twin sisters.
Big Business (1988) has Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin playing two mismatched sets of twins.

Tri orísky pro Popelku , Three Wishes for Cinderella (1973) Czechoslovakia directed by Václav Vorlícek This wonderfully entertaining film version stars Libuse Safránková as the title character, a young woman who is put upon by her stepmother and her ugly and demanding stepsisters. The film employs an original twist, though, when the handsome prince comes knocking. Cinderella does not just simply fall into the prince's arms. In this socialist Czech tale, he must actively pursue the young woman who is a skilled sharpshooter prone to wearing hunting outfits. Cinderella also has three wishes at her disposal, gained from three magic nuts... not just for the kids... Greetings Planet X! I second everything you say in your review about this exquisite adaption, and that for more enchanting Czech fairy tales,I highly recommend the stylish first ever live (feature) film adaptation of The Little Mermaid: Malá Morská Víla (with Eng Subs): www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VCE2PRS-C8

So great to see you here. I wish I could say something other than that I like Plantet X's wonderful posts, but I've rarely seen his beautiful recommendations. But I love to read about them. And I'm so glad to see you here. I do hope you'll stick around.Thank you for the warm welcome Spider! And like you said, about 95% of the films Planet X mention are films I've never heard of! The Initiation Of Sarah (1978) Kay Lenz (Sarah Goodwin) Morgan Brittany (Patty Goodwin) Two sisters, one popular (Patty), one not (Sarah), go to College and are initiated into a Sorority, The most popular run by Morgan Fairchild (Jennifer Lawrence). It's not too bad but was made to cash in on the popularity of Carrie as (Sarah) has the same powers and the basic bullied storyline of revenge. Can be watched in full here:- Scroll to bottom and see if you like it. moria.co.nz/horror/initiation-of-sarah-tv-1978.htm
