1) The Lang origin story is out of the way, so the movie can be all Ant Man goodness from start to finish.
2) Giant Man. Meaning there will obviously be two types of unique action set pieces: ant sized and King Kong sized.
3) It's got the Wasp in it- I mean Wasps. Plural. It's got two Wasps in it. Double your pleasure with double the Wasps!🐝🐝
4) Now that Ant Man has proven to be a successful character the filmmakers can embrace him in all his B movie glory and discard any timid reservations they may have had in movie one. They don't have be all "Here's Ant Man. He's kind of absurd so we wrapped him up in a pseudo heist comedy", and can instead be like "Here's ANT MAN. Unabashed. Unashamed. LOVE HIM or go fuck yourself!" We saw the former in Ant Man and the latter in Civil War.
Now here's two reasons it won't be better than the first...
1) Marvel may be content to simply capitalize on the first without striving for better, resulting in a lower quality uninspired movie. See Iron Man 2, Thor 2 and AoU.
2) Outside of the action scenes Ant Man 1 was filmed with the ugly bland generic cinematography of a tv sitcom. There's really no reason to think that will change.

I agree with all of your pro points here, and well thought out stuff.
Your first con point, I agree with, and the big thing for me here is asking, what is the point of this film? Is it rescuing Janet? Is it something else? How does it fit in after Infinity War or maybe it's not after Infinity War. I think we need to learn more first, but I am curious if there is a significance to it other than just existing. So far, that has never been the case, so I'm confident Marvel has something going for it.
Your second con point, I don't agree with. I thought the original looked and felt great. I don't need it to change.

You make a great point here too. If this movie is all about the original Wasp then what will Lang's story arc be? They better have a good answer to that question. Lang's Ant Man is the protagonist not Pym's Ant Man. So how is this Lang's story?

Just a week ago we didn't know Capt Marvel was set in the 90's, so I'm sure something will come out that clears it up.

I've seen that video and he makes some good points but he ignores two important things: Marvel movies do vary considerably in terms of visual quality and color timing. And he totally ignores the biggest problem with modern color timing: Orange and Teal grading. Doctor Strange has beautiful natural tones while AoU and Ant Man both have ugly orange teal grading. The video seems to want more of that as he says the interior scenes look great. I actually think the outdoor scenes look great and the interior shots often look like shit. Digital color timing has really made movies ugly IMO. Have you ever noticed that interior backgrounds are ALWAYS teal? Watch AoU and you'll see what I mean. It's ass ugly. Or watch the scene where Cross and Hope are having dinner. Blue background and orange faces. You don't see that in Doctor Strange at all.

Absolutely! I was hoping for Sharon Stone, but Michelle is a great choice too.

Factoring in the return of Jan (something I didn't see coming), I think this film will be going places the first didn't for sure.

Factoring in the return of Jan (something I didn't see coming), I think this film will be going places the first didn't for sure. Agreed. I don't think my first "con" will turn out to be true. Two Wasps, original and new, in addition to Giant Man should be enough to make this a very unique stand alone. One thing I didn't mention is that this movie will likely feature a lot more of the Quantum Realm too. And we can't rule out the possibility that Pym himself will suit up as Ant Man. I just hope they realize that an Ant Man movie can be more than just a surprise hit. If done right I really believe this sequel can be one of their best. The character has so much potential.

Didn't Hank say he can't suit up again? I get the feeling Douglas might be bowing out with this movie.

It's a good way to write him out: saving his wife and dying in the process.

I hope so. I'm curious what they do with her. I could see them both dying to complete the passing of the torch story- leaving the "new" Ant Man and Wasp to carry on their respective mantles. Hard to say though.
