Who has the better costumes?

I have grown tired of colorful and cheap looking outfits.
I was watching Spider-Man (2002) recently, and I said:
"So basically, a guy in a red rubber costume is punching a guy in a green plastic costume?"
Long story short, only Batman in all black ( tactical armor ) works for me.

A few exceptions like Cyborg and Joker aside, I think the DCEU's costumes haven't been bad. But the MCU does find more clever explanations behind certain characters' outfits or just embraces it better like THOR or GOTG. So I gotta give it to Marvel.

MCU. They actually look like the characters they're supposed to be.

MCU. They actually look like the characters they're supposed to be. So do the DCEU ones. To answer the thread....it's a good question actually. Both have done a great job with costumes. Maybe the dark colour palette makes it harder to see the DC ones though. They both have some that look better than others. I couldn't really pick one over the other. My favourite though is the armoured Batman suit.

MCU. They actually look like the characters they're supposed to be. Except for Hawkeye... yeah, or Thor with the silly winged helmet of his...or Cap America losing the star and stripes on his costume to pander to an international audience...I know I know nothing about Marvel or cartoons...but I still know more than the ignorantraptor...weird

They gave Thor his Helmet in the first movie but dropped it for practical reasons, and now he's getting a variant of it in Ragnarok.
Cap always had the Star on his suit, so I don't know what you mean.

And they're ashamed of Hawkeye face mask which looks similar in shape to Wolverines. Not everything from the comics works well translated to the big screen.

They were ashamed of Thor's and Hawk's helmets, and they were ashamed of the white and red stripes on Cap's costume, all toned down for those unpatriotic foreigners, even the damn A on his helmet. Do you even now what that patriotic A stands for? It stands for Umerica! Look at the weirdraptor: do you clearly see a white, shining "A" on his avatar picture...? Nah you don't. And that's just those three. I am ashamed of the MCU (and the weirdraptor).

There are still white and red stripes on Cap's outfit, just have to look harder.

No, they tried the helmet and removed it once it didn't work so they at least tried. Same with the brighter colored Cap outfit, and Hawkeye hardly wears the helmet anymore. With Wolverine, the people in charge didn't even try. They were too disgusted by the source material.

X1 was probably the first CBM I liked. Imagine if the characters ran around in yellow disco jump suits, not really an artificial booster, eh? H Jackman famously refused to run around in that atrocity and there is an hilarious joke in the movie about it. The pope should really declare Jackman a saint living, maybe Fox as a studio too.

No they tried and found some stuff just didn't work as well as they'd hoped. Better effort than FOX, though. God Bless them for their shame and disgust at the source material and their failure to rise above their wannabe artsy-fartsiness. I like X1 for what it was, and I think it would've been better with more authentic aesthetics and less of that "grounded" nonsense. Jackman needs to get over himself.

You should really watch your mandatory MCU ration so that you can convincingly pretend to love it next week without any artificial boosters showing. I truly appreciate how frustrating your position at the MCU front must be: you have to defend the trenches, and the fat cats behind send nothing remotely useable to throw at the enemy but trash. Shame!

I have so many things to say about this topic I hardly know where to begin. Overall, the MCU has done a pretty good job with costumes. Iron Man, Spider-Man, Thor, Black Widow, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Daredevil and the Guardians of the Galaxy all look almost identical to the comics. I would prefer Thor with the helmet but he hasn't worn that in the comics for a while now too. Captain America's costume is OK and Antman's costume is pretty good. I don't care for the Scarlet Witch costume and I don't really like the Falcon costume because they are too different from the comics.
Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy have the advantage of being from outer space so they can get away with totally crazy costumes.
On the DCEU side, I don't like that they got rid of Superman's trunks (looks like a onesie) and I don't like that they made it out of twizzlers. Also, the cape is too long. I don't understand why they have the humongous fake muscles built into Batmans's costume. Is the audience supposed to think those are his actual muscles? Did Batman add the absurd and restrictive fake muscles to intimidate his enemies or something? The flash has too much body armor on his costume.
Wonder Woman's costume is ok. I don't like her wielding a sword and shield and I hate those leather straps wrapped around her body to carry those weapons. Also, she looks like she is wearing Gene Simmons' KISS boots.
