They were doing something else instead of the Dark Phoenix storyline?? I mean I love it and i am glad that it is next but I do wish they had done another movie with Mr Sinister as the villain, just to give the new team some time to establish more. I could be wrong of course but its fun to think about.

Oh sure, definitely. I am admittedly curious about how they'll adapt it this time. But also I'm rather annoyed that we're redoing it just as an apology for "The Last Stand". I personally never found it that interesting of a story. As you said, we could have Mister Sinister or something else we've never seen before. Imagine them doing Genosha or the Savage Land or anything else that's strange or out there.

Oh well im sure thats what they will do after this one, once they get the dark phoenix stuff out of their system.

They released a statement today saying that Dark Phoenix isn't going to be "too intergalactic" and remain "grounded". Which is really weird considering how silly and out there the last two movies had been. We had time travel and giant robots in DOFP and a literal God mutant in Apocalypse.

Absolutely, this is the 3rd time we're going to see the Dark Phoenix live action. While we're at it Fox, how about retell the story of Wolverine's origin story for the millionth time? Because we haven't seen that in X2, X-Men Origins, DOFP, and Apocalypse.

I remember when they said that their original take on X3 was more intergalactic. And I also remember when they made a big deal about them going to space in the next one. I'm thinking they are toning back on X-men for the other titles like Deadpool, maybe X-Force and New Mutants, and only making X-men movies for the rights. There's no a way a studio would put a first time director on their flagship series like this unless they are pushing them back for the other movie series they are doing. After Apocalypse, saying you are trying to make a very huge story/character like Dark Phoenix grounded means you are going smaller with the X-men.

So why include the alien queen that Chastain is supposed to be playing if they're just gonna ground it again? I'm not busting your chops, your theory makes sense, but why include aliens at all if they're really "scaling back"? If they're worried about going balls out ott like Apocalypse did, it can still bomb hard like Fan4stick did while playing it absolutely safe.

They'll probably make her leader of a small nation or something. X-men's version of Black Panther from Civil War. I stopped reading Ultimate X-men when they got to Phoenix. Wasn't she leader of some Phoenix worshiping cult? And I think she'll play the same role of antagonist that all the other non-Magneto villains played in the other X-men movies (Kelly, Stryker, Worthington 2, Shaw, Trask and Apocalypse). She's just there to create a conflict for Magneto to get angry about and become the villain again. It's the same thing for every main X-men movie.

Really? Because he sounds like an idiot who didn't read the story and just read a Wikipedia article on the subject. He also makes the idiotic claim that Apocalypse storylines are not earthbound, when they all are.

It focused on the corruption of Jean by the Hellfire Club. The Shi'ar didn't show up until the final issue. They were a plot device to depower/kill Jean.

No, I read it. I'll believe they'll actually go through with it when I see it. Given the X-Men films' poor batting average, I have no reason to believe them. They couldn't even get Scott right ONCE in 17 years.

It is entirely possible to get teen Scott right and make him a palpable character. X-Men: Evolution did a great job with him.
