Luke is on the cover of a new Hungarian magazine. I'm not liking this unhappy, bitter looking Luke at all.

Looks badass.
I have money riding on the Grey Jedi thing.

Why would would Rey follow Luke and submit to his training if he is a Dark Jedi? It would seem counterintuitive to Rey's natural "goody two shoes" morality established in TFA.

I agree with the first article I saw about this, it looks like it is the battered and evolved version of his RETURN OF THE JEDI attire. He's older and living in a cold, wet climate now rather than running around Tattooine, Endor's moon, or the Death Star. I think he's basically trying to avoid standing out. On Ack-To (or however it's spelled), he was alone on an island, so it didn't matter so much if he dressed like his uncle Owen or Obi-wan back on Tattooine. Plus, if he has been living on that spit of land all these years, and from what we've seen of the keepers that live there, I'm guessing we're talking something akin to sheep's wool for clothing and not a lot of access to dyes, so you probably have to stick with the more natural grey/white/off-white coloring. This may be a picture from later on, when they've left, and now he has to worry about blending in.
Or, just to completely throw us off and break our collective brains- this could be a picture of him in a costume he wears for only one scene. A scene where Kylo tries to seduce Rey to the dark side by showing her some Dark Vision/Darth Luke version of some recent past event or some soon-to-occur event. [There's a show I watched that the first pic they released of the leading man from S2 was a pic of him in the same costume another character had already been pictured wearing, leading to wild speculation by fans. Turns out his brother had a dream about the bad guy and when he blinks, the bad guy becomes the leading guy, so the reason the leading guy and bad guy wore the same costume was a dream sequence from a secondary character.] It would explain the darker colors and the more determined, grizzled appearance in this picture. Plus, from a marketing perspective, a lot of fun to mess with people by showing him in a costume from a dream sequence, knowing people will speculate like mad, only for it to turn out to be some Force-vision/dream sequence where the costume was part of the scene and not actually part of Luke's overall character development.

The twist is Luke is already dead, but he is so powerful with the force he seems alive

I never asserted that Rey would follow Luke if he were a Dark Jedi.

For once, I agree with Ryboto.
<gags, coughs>
Simmer down, now. This picture reveals/means nothing. Luke's attire in ROTJ was also black. He has a forlorn look because he's been alone on an island for too long, contemplating his galaxy-threatening mistakes.

I actually wasn't referring to his clothing at all. I was talking about his facial expression/eyes. Contrary to what others say here, I don't want to see him fall to the Dark Side (I wasn't even thinking about that until the responses...) if that's the case.
The whole point of the OT is that Luke didn't fall to the Dark Side. It's too easy to be a bad guy. Luke chose to take the less travelled road and be better than all that. If Vader/Emperor double teaming him couldn't get him to fall, I highly doubt Snoke and Kylo (haha) could.

This will be his final, greatest sacrifice and he'll do it to save Ren and Rey. Snoke would then possess Luke's body and become the ultimate dark side machine. Win/win. We get to see Dark Side Luke onscreen whilst not only maintaining his virtue, but actually, increasing his virtue. And hey, if they want to have Luke use the line, "If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine," who am I to argue?

Let me also add that it's the the least Luke can do, sacrificing himself to save Han and Leia's kids. After all, Han died trying to save Ren and I have a feeling Leia will die trying to save Rey. And when mom and dad are dead, it's up to Uncle Luke to finish the job.

I like the new characters but neither one is even worth Luke's robotic hand in exchange. Him dying for them isn't a "win/win" at all.

In your opinion why is a grey Jedi stupid? You don't think in the thousands of years of Jedi history that no Jedis would attempt balancing between the Light and Dark? Or attempt to master both sides of the Force? Just curious why you find it stupid. I know you didn't. But it seems apparent from the trailer that Rey is trained by Luke. And I doubt she would agree to that if he were a Dark Jedi.

I don't think any true Darkside master would sacrifice themselves. That notion is something more fitting of a grey Jedi. Yes, Vader sacrificed himself for Luke. But there was an undercurrent of grey Jedi in him IMO. Luke sensed it. But the Emperor never did. The line "If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine." is a quote from a Jedi. A Jedi concept. So if he is also using the Darkside in TLJ then that would make Luke a Dark Jedi. Just my opinion.

I've lost all my interest in this movie. I don't know why.
I will say, though, this picture isn't bad. Maybe we'll get a "New" take on Luke that still stays true to the character.

So, this whole Grey nonsense...there is no 'light' or 'dark' side of the force, it's all the user. The user is either mostly selfless and free of fear/doubt(Jedi), or they're self focused and use negative emotion (fear, hatred, greed) to fuel their use of the force(sith, dark Jedi). I think of it akin to LOTR and the ring(or stress eating, heh)...the power feeds the emotions, and the emotions feed the power.
A 'grey' jedi would just be someone that embraces their own fears/pain/hate, but doesn't let the power accessed via those emotions consume them. It's pretty straight forward in the EU.
The force doesn't kill people, people kill people.
