finance.yahoo.com/news/apos-star-wars-episode-ix-144500884.htmlWhat do you think? On one hand, he's a safe choice. But maybe he'll surprise us depending on the script. I hope his script doesn't rehash Return of the Jedi. I still think Disney should go with an up-and-comer who has something to prove and can bring freshness to the franchise.

Meh. Didn't like The Force Awakens but I dig like Star Trek (2009) so he's hit or miss for me. Definitely a safe choice .

Congrats.
For us? Not good or bad, just safe. A decent, middle of the road SW movie. That's good enough... I guess(?)

He did great on The Force Awakens, so I'm not worried.

I enjoy The Force Awakens, but it reeks of safeness. Part of that is due to the pick of Abrams as director.

I think that there are also a lot of "STAR WARS" Fans out there that would pick "THE FORCE AWAKENS" over the 3 Prequels any day of the week.

This is a tragedy. It should be Spielberg or Ron Howard.

This is fairly significant for me because after TFA the trilogy needed to break away on its own to succeed. Now JJ will surely just tie up Disney'ish loose ends he introduced in TFA without taking desired risks & unique avenues.

I feel a little sorry for that guy (I forgot his name) that they "just" hired to re-write "STAR WARS: EPISODE IX".

At least with picking Kershner and Marquand it felt like Lucas was willing to take some chances on his sequels. Even though those guys were basically caretakers for Lucas, it did feel like they brought something new to the table.

I hear Chris Terrio, the guy who wrote the script for Batman v. Superman is co-writing Episode 9. Oh dear. But then again, he did write Argo.

the shroud of the dark side has fallen. Begun the end of the Star Wars has.
I am positively mourning this franchise. Only light I see is that Abrams may just be directing...and NOT writing. He is the worst HACK² with that.

Sounds good. He did a great job on "The Force Awakens". I'm sure he's a great choice to finish the story he started.
