I also had interaction with some obscure actors such as Jay McKenna who was sort of an extra on many old western shows such as Bonanza, The Virginian, etc. He's in his 80's now. All the history is now lost, this is what riles me the most. You were actually able to communicate with the past and now they are dying off (especially last year and this year) and all those little tidbits about their lives are all vanished. To actually replicate a board like IMDb would be a massive undertaking and would take years and years even with hundreds of volunteers. Maybe it's something someone should approach Bill Gates with.....he is always looking for somewhere to spend his money and do something useful. I'm sure even Mr. Spielberg would want to preserve all the Movie/ TV history....better yet, just buy IMDb away from Amazon and put it back the way it was. That part about the older industry people on the boards, who are now dying off -- that is the thing that really makes me sad and angry about the boards being gone now. Those conversations were priceless and even though Needham always said the boards aren't meant to be lasting archives and they got purged at times, some boards' threads were there for years and years containing these amazing exchanges with people. It's a crying shame.

support.proboards.com/thread/612445As nice as it was, the replies on IMDb were only nested up to certain point. Long discussions would eventually stop nesting. So until ProBoards implements nesting capability, maybe we could consider all threads here to be as they were there after they stopped nesting. ![](http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e41/imdbv2/imdbsmileys/laugh.gif)

But I also used that as a guide for when to quit an argument. If we argued until nest stopped working, it was pretty much a waste of time to continue....

..after I watched an obscure movie from decades ago I could go to the message boards and chat with other people who have seen it and may have caught things that I didn't. Word for word what I was going to say. I don't think I ever went there to look up something, or someone and came away disappointed. It'll be a long time, if ever, that we see a site that comprehensive

I absolutely love this forum and I believe it's easily the best replacement board to IMDb. I have to say though that the thing I really miss about IMDb that doesn't seem to be replicated on any site is that after I watched an obscure movie from decades ago I could go to the message boards and chat with other people who have seen it and may have caught things that I didn't. That's what I loved more than anything, the individual boards for every movie and actor. Other websites have tried to copy that and even managed to archive some of the old posts, but those places are not very active sadly. I am glad this site exists, but I'm still sad that IMDb made this decision. Exactly this.
