Hi Stefancrosscoe Thanks again and I enjoyed having my family and friends over on separate days too so not being able to have them there for a big birthday party turned out to not be so bad since I was still able to spend time with them but things still don’t look too good for me returning to work in the near future ‘cause our cases in New South Wales are now over 300 and we had another 35 cases announced yesterday and until they can slow down the spreading nobody knows how long this Lockdown is going to go for but what I do know is it’s unlikely to end this week. Being off work for the unforeseeable future gives me the chance to do a lot of things around the house I have been meaning to do but kept holding off doing before like redesigning our back verandah and since some of my family and friends can’t go to work at the moment either I can spend more time with them too and we are all lucky to live outside the Lockdown area because we can at least see each other whenever we want as long as we follow the visitor limits.
I am sorry to hear your numbers are going the wrong way again in Norway too and hopefully it is just a temporary spike and doesn’t lead to any strong restrictions coming back and places having to close again ‘cause when it comes to Lockdowns there is nothing worse than finally having freedom only to have it snatched from you once again and that just seems cruel. Have there been any problems with the vaccines getting to people and are they making your health workers take the vaccines or at least get tested regularly ‘cause that’s becoming even more of a problem here now and we have multiple people working in and outside of Covid Wards that have tested positive to the Coronavirus but were not vaccinated or getting tested on a day to day basis and in that line of work it is very important you are for the health of yourself and those around you and I am not sure why they would knowingly put themselves in such risky situations where they can easily get the virus. It is going to be interesting to see what life is like for everybody once this is truly over and we are all safe again and there will be a big gap on the news for sure ‘cause they talk about the Pandemic all the time.
Good to hear that you keep in touch and have a nice relationship with your close ones, and yeah, having too much time on ones hands, it can give you certain benefits that we often might skip or ignore within our own homes, as I have noticed I have gotten a bit more "tidy" with cleaning up and going through my apartment, even if I should probably do it more frequently. Having just watched the great match between England and Denmark last night, I am surprised at how they would let in an almost full stadion of crazed football fans, knowing that it could sadly all lead straight back to square "one", but I sure hope that will not be the case, this time. I love the atmosphere and sound of a fully packed stadion, but knowing the potential risk behind all the fun and positive things, I think it is far too early to be all positive about the outcome, yet. Yeah, the Delta virus seems to be the latest topic, and I keep reading up the 4th wave that many predicts will arrive later this autumn, so I guess we will just have to wait and see where it goes next. I believe most of the health workers have been getting the vaccines, but again, there might always be a few rare cases, and hopefully it will be not something that might cause any danger to them or the patients they work with. You are right about the smoke from bushfires and it is surprising how thick it can get and there were some firefighters that were said to have gotten lost in the smoke going towards the fire and that was one of the ways they died ‘cause they were going around in circles breathing it in and to try to avoid the smoke we had people going up in special water helicopters dropping water on the fires and they have a special name but I can’t remember what it is at the moment but they were able to put quite a few of the larger fires out and get them under control. Some of them weren’t as safe as they thought they would be in them though and there was one that dropped Firefighters off on the other side of a big one and they got surrounded by the flames and couldn’t be saved. They also had an accident that lead to the deaths of some voluntary Firefighters that came from America to help us and I think most of the Firefighters that died were sadly voluntary ones and to know there are people who are willing to risks their lives like that to try and save towns without even getting paid is an example of why we should never give up on believing the good in humanity even though there are some people that do evil things.
That must have been very worrying having a fire like that on one of the floors in the building you live in last month and I am glad you are okay and most people there didn’t get hurt but that is still sad an elderly woman passed away and was she someone you talked to? I am known to make mistakes and have accidents from time to time so I can relate to you doing that (lol but at least I am nowhere near as clumsy as I used to be ‘cause back then my Aunt would always pack breakable things away when I stayed at my Uncle and her house in case I knocked them over (lol) and I don’t know if you heard the song, ‘I Break Things’ by Erika Jo but my Aunt used to joke that was me. Yeah. A little fire can do a lot of damage and can easily grow and that was the case with many of the small fires the arsonists were lighting and they got bigger and merged with other fires to become Megafires and that is when you are best to get away ‘cause a regular hose won’t put them out and speaking of hoses have you ever seen a firehose being used or used one yourself ‘cause I have seen people literally get blown backwards using them ‘cause the impact is so strong and before then I thought that only happened in cartoons. lol
That is very sad to hear, as these brave souls who put their own lives on the line, all in order to save others, because of the nasty and vicious work by a few cretins, who sadly might in some cases, end up doing the same damage, over and over, if the possiblity arrives, which is most likely. I remember a few cases, from years ago, when a guy who would lit up several apartments and buildings in Oslo, and the way the police and firemen worked to figure out who did it, was always taking notice of the crowd of people, arriving the different places where the fire had been started, and every once in a while, some of the people who were most interested in the work of the police and firemen, would be taken in for further questioning, and it was revealed that one of those a bit too "nosy" spectators, were the one responseble for all the fires, and they finally caught him, before he could take any lives and cause more harm. The lady who died, I never talked to, or met up with. I guess that is not too uncommon, when you live in these tall buildings, with lots of people, but then again, it is not often that I see my own next door neighbor either. I have never tried using a firehose, but I remember from back when I was a kid, that some firemen arrived during school day, and showed us how to put out the fire with one. I remember it was quite a powerful instrument, if one can call it that, and knowing how much water pressure it contains, and still the firemen will often have no chance of putting out the fire, even after almost a day of work, it makes you respect their work and also the dangers of fire itself, even more.
No. Rage usually plays all genres of music and some nights they play certain genres more than others and they would have nights where they would play Hard Rock and Heavy Metal but other nights they played Rap, Alternative Rock or Classic Rock and it was usually when they played their countdown of all the most popular videos for the week they would play the boy bands and girl bands like The Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Westlife and Human Nature. It is pretty interesting how many singers want to perform one genre of music but end up doing another that couldn’t be any more different ‘cause it is the one that is popular at the time and for some of them they get used to it but others spend a lot of their careers regretting it and it is surprising how much control the record labels have over them and even when they are having hit after hit and selling millions of records they aren’t always in control of their careers and did you hear why Taylor Swift left Big Machine Records? Money does talk and most major record label executives now are just looking to make money now and it is a shame ‘cause as a number of successful Rock bands from the past have said they would have never been famous if the labels they were under didn’t take a chance on them doing something different.
There were so many Classic Rock Artists and Bands that didn’t find success until their second or third albums as I wrote about before and many labels won’t give them that many chances now so we may be missing out on that could have been a lot bigger but were seen as flops or one hit wonders ‘cause they couldn’t succeed sooner. Yeah. It was a thrill for my Aunt meeting Barry Manilow (lol) and she is still embarrassed over how she froze and couldn’t talk but enjoyed the concert and it is pretty funny how people can freeze like that over meeting their favourite celebrities but my Aunt is definitely not alone and I think Barry would have been used to that. I have heard of some pretty nasty experiences fans have had with their favourite singers and celebrities and some singers have had with crazy fans too and I think celebrities’ heads get too big and they forget it was their fans that mad them famous and they wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for them and I have met a lot of Artists and Bands at concerts, music festivals and other places over the years and I am happy to say most were good experiences.
No, I cannot said I have heard about Taylor Swift, but yeah, I remember the stuff about Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson back in the early 00s, when they fought up against their record labels, which I think were the same owner, and I believe Carey was actually married to the creep, who looked more like some villain, straight out of a Martin Scorsese mobster movie. I am glad to hear, most of your experiences with musicians have been pleasant, rather than the opposite. But of course, like with most people, they might have a day off, too. Still, those who get too "big" to even bother noticing their own fans, I guess that can come back and haunt them much later on. There were the occasional few bad experiences I had though and Natalie Bassingwaite had to be the worst and I heard Ted Nugent has been a real pig to some of his fans but I am not sure if he is as bad as he used to be ‘cause some change have changed when they got older. I am glad you enjoyed ‘The Visitors’ by ABBA and I agree with you that it had some great songs even though it was not their best and a lot of my favourite albums aren’t always seen as the best by Artists and Bands and I have come to really like some of their lesser known albums. By the way, did you hear Agnetha Fältskog's solo album, 'A' from 2013? It is sad ABBA broke up when they did and very, very surprising they didn't get back together to record more albums like a lot of other bands do 'cause they were one of the biggest bands in the world and few bands reach the level of popularity they did in their day but at least they went out on top. When you have members married in the band break up the chances are it is not going to last but then there are surprisingly some bands that consist of divorced couples like the White Stripes and I thought Jack and Meg were siblings but they were a divorced couple and do you like the White Stripes 'cause Beccy is a fan of theirs and I think they have some good songs but don't like them as much as she does.
Yes. I do enjoy the animated Batman movies even more than the live action and I also liked 'Batman: The Animated Series' and 'The Batman' (Animated TV Show) which I think was underrated and had some good episodes and my favourite animated movies often change when we re-watch them but at the moment they are 'Batman: Under the Red Hood', 'Batman: Bad Blood', 'Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman', 'Batman: Assault on Arkham' and 'Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero.' I like the other ones you mentioned too and did you see the Batman/ Superman movies too 'cause I liked those and my favourite was 'Superman/Batman: Apocalypse' which had Supergirl in it. I sadly haven't got to see 'The Long Halloween Part One' 'cause it is not out here in Australia yet but it is going to be sometime in the next two weeks and I am looking forward to seeing it and liked the graphic novel. There was talk about adapting 'Death of the Family' (not 'Death In the Family') into an animated movie a couple of years ago and I hope they do that next along with 'Batman: Battle for the Cowl' (which has been rumoured) and 'Batman: Eternal.' I also liked the recent 'Wonder Woman: Bloodlines', 'Teen Titans: The Judas Contract' and 'Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay' animated movies and if you haven't seen them I would suggest checking them out.
I have seen Alicia Silverstone's 'Blast From the Past' and it has been a while since I saw it but I remember seeing it and enjoying it and I have seen a few of her other movies too like 'Excess Baggage', 'Clueless', 'The Babysitter', 'The Crush', 'True Crime' and 'Who Gets the Dog' and she was pretty big at one point of her career and she was in some of the Aerosmith music videos too and we were talking about her playing Batgirl recently and I said I thought she was better suited to play Supergirl and she was one of the Actresses actually lined up to play Supergirl in a movie that sadly didn't go through in the 00s which also had Sarah Michelle Gellar and Monica Potter in the running and I do wonder if her career would have been more successful if she had gotten that role instead of Batgirl. She was also the original choice to play Elle Woods in 'Legally Blonde' which may have seen her become a lot bigger but the role ended up going to to Reese Witherspoon which I think Reese was the better pick for. Anyways, it has been nice talking to you again and I look forward to hearing from you again and hope you have been well. Oh yeah, I remember quite a few stories back in the day, during the whole the the bands retro-rock craze, which went on with The Strokes, The Hives, The Vines, The Thrills and of course The White Stripes, and where several newspapers, wrote stories that Jack and Meg were brother and sisters, and it kind of got a bit creepy. I did own a few of their albums, but never quite got into them as much as I wanted to, where as they did however have a talent of coming up with some incredible songs, and speaking of the european football tournament which is ending on sundays final at Wembley stadium, they still do the huge crowd chanting version of Seven Nation Army, and I remember it seemed to start out back with Euro 2008, and has since been a stayer within the football society. I wonder what Jack and Meg thinks of it? I did caught up with Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1 last weekend, and I kind of wished I had some good things to say about it, but sadly I thought it dragged on, and featured to many overused clichees, random scenes and sure, I have yet to read the novel, but something did just to sit well with me. I guess I went in, once more, with far too big expectations, but I am will pick up the part 2 later this month, but my hopes have surely been let down, a few times too many, with the newer Batman animated releases. Hope you will have a good weekend coming up, and that things in your country might ease down, soon. By the way, speaking of Australia, I did just watch the great australian suspense-thriller Road Games (1981), starring Stacy Keach and Jamie Lee Curtis, by Richard Franklin. I really enjoy the combination of adventure, suspense and black comedy, and of course how much it pays tribute to Alfred Hitchcock, and where I enjoyed also hearing lots of informative stories behind the film and making of it, where I believe the film started out, as Rear Window (1954) set inside a moving vehicle, and where the driver would experience all kind of weird situations and people, but also be on the case of what he believes is a serial killer on the loose, in the desert. I think the film sadly got not the recognition it deserved, when it was releases, as most people thought of it, as a typical slasher release, because of bad promoting, Jamie Lee Curtis and the striking giallo/slasher looking movie poster, but the film is really quite a unique blend, of different types of genres, and it works very well, all together. Along with The Road Warrior, which also makes great use of the road and desert, both of these fantastic made australian films, were released in 1981, and would surely be among some of the best made films of that era. Hi Stefancrosscoe
How are you going today and how has your weekend been so far? Yes. It is nice being able to keep in touch with people that are close to us and getting to see them and have them here in person but it is hard not to feel a little guilty when there are so many people in the Lockdown areas in our state that don’t have that luxury at the moment and are having to live under some of the strongest restrictions Australia has ever had and the Premier is now telling them to stay inside and only go out if they need to and only one person per home can do the shopping and they are only allowed to stay inside shops for a limited amount of time and can no longer look around either and have to basically go in and get what they need and get out. They have also got Police Officers walking up the street in some areas in Sydney ready to fine and arrest people ‘cause too many people were breaking the rules again before and we have now gone over 500 after having 77 new cases today and we have a teenager who is in intensive care with the Coronavirus.
The Delta strand is the worst one we have had and is getting worse every day but there’s believed to be an even worse strand out there none of the vaccines work on and one of our overseas travelers in quarantine has got it now but they have kept it under control so far and our Premier and many other Politicians in both major parties are being blamed now ‘cause people believe they become too cocky with how good things were going here and didn’t think we could have what happened in Victoria last year happen here and it has now been shown it can and I am sorry to hear a fourth wave could be on the way for you too but the thing with this virus is it seems to keep going away and coming back and going away only to come back again and again and Politicians can lock down states for months and it only takes one person to get it and the virus to spread around again and we are back to this.
It is astonishing how our Governments can justify making all these special exceptions for the Football to have large crowds attend the matches and even with the limits they can still have far more people in stadiums than anything else can and many Artists and Bands can’t tour again now and we are only allowed to have 10 people at funerals but Football can have thousands ‘cause somehow that is more important and it is a joke and if there is another outbreak in your country because of the match with England and Denmark you will know the Government is to blame. I mean if WWE can last for months doing shows without crowds surely the Football can do the same especially when things are starting to get worse like they are here but our Premiers always defend it and even before the Coronavirus it has always been something they have put above everything else and a few years ago they wanted to build a new flashy stadium that would cost us millions of Tax dollars and a lot of people were against it ‘cause they wanted the money to be used for something more important and thought the stadium they had was good enough and by some strange coincidence within a few days that stadium was vandalized and a lot of things were ruined and it had to be demolished and do things like that happen in your country?
Thank you for answering my question about health workers in Norway and Beccy and I found out we will be able to get the Pfizer vaccine towards the end of September here and sadly there is a wait for it here but it’s worth waiting to get the right one. It is sad how many brave Firefighters lost their lives to the bushfires in our state and I can only imagine how hard it must have been for the families of all of them to get the call they had died in the fires and some of them had children as young as my new Niece, Kylie who weren’t even a year old and they will have to grow up never knowing them and the only thing worse than the Arsonists that were involved in those fires were the Firefighters who were lighting fires too and I don’t know if it has happened in Norway too but we have had some Arsonists turn out to be Firefighters here and they become Firefighters to hide what they are really doing since they know most people won’t suspect them of deliberately lighting fires when their job is to put fires out but like those other ones you mentioned they often do eventually get caught out but they give a bad name to all the good Firefighters that work their butts off to put fires out like those. I think what makes them stand out as the ‘nosy’ spectator types is many of them are proud of their work and like to watch it unfold.
It is good you weren’t close with the Elderly Woman that passed away and I can see how living inside a tall building you wouldn’t have seen her often and we talk to our neighbours nearly every day here and they have been very friendly and welcoming to us since we moved here and Beccy and I put a lot of Christmas Decorations and lights up every Christmas and our neighbours love to come over to see it when it is finished and one of them has jokingly thanked us a few times for putting them up ‘cause he said before we moved here he only put a few lights up every year but now he has to put up more or their house looks dull compared to ours and his Wife loves Christmas lights too and do you like to put up many Christmas decorations or Christmas lights? It is hard to believe we are only five months away from Christmas again and Christmas is my favourite time of the year!! and Beccy and I start in the middle of November now ‘cause we don’t think it goes long enough and it is always best to buy presents for everybody early and not leave them until the last week or two.
We have a lot of Christmas albums and Christmas movies too and even our pets have cute Christmas outfits which they look adorable in and our Malshis (Occy and Sally) love it when we get the dancing, talking and singing Christmas toys out along with their Christmas toys and we have kinda spoiled our pets over the years and they have got big boxes full of plush toys and we got them Pokemon, Mario, Sonic, Donkey Kong, Animal Crossing, Kirby, Yoshi, Legend of Zelda, Paw Patrol, Bubble Guppies, Top Wing, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Team Umizoomi, Disney and Looney Tunes plush toys and we got a lot of video game plush toys on special at EB Games for $10-$15 each and it is good we bought them when we did ‘cause some of them now costs $40, $70 and $80. Occy’s favourite toy is Jolteon which is a Pokemon and he shakes its brains out sometimes and sends it flying across the room and it has landed on top of our table and way over in front of our TV and on our lounge some days and it is pretty surprising how far it can go but it can be dangerous sometimes and annoying when he does it a lot and we have to keep getting up to get it for him.
Yeah. I remember hearing the stuff about Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey too and there are a few Artists and Bands that have had very public falling outs with their record labels and some have taken their former record labels to court to get the rights back to their music and won ‘cause they released compilations of their music and unreleased songs and didn’t pay them a cent for those albums and it would be pretty frustrating knowing your former record label was doing that to you and you weren’t getting paid any money for it and Tim McGraw’s former record label done that to him with Greatest Hits albums after he left and Def Leppard weren’t making any money on re-releases of their albums until they took the record label to court. There were a lot of Country Music Artists that got screwed over in the 00s when UMG overtook a lot of the smaller labels and they kicked Artists off their labels but kept their unreleased albums so they had to record new ones when they signed to other record labels and others kept Artists under contract for years but refused to release their albums and there was one Singer/Songwriter called Katrina Elam whose songs started turning up on other Artists and Bands’ albums and she didn’t know her record label had given them to away without her permission until she heard them on the radio and the Artists that recorded didn’t know either ‘cause they got lied to.
I am glad most of my experiences with Artists and Bands were good and it is can be disappointing for people when they meet their favourite celebrities and they turn out to be nothing like they assumed they would be and have there been any Artists or Bands you have liked over the years that you have been turned off ‘cause of that they were like in real life? I am familiar with all those bands you listed with the White Stripes and we talked about the Vines before but I think out of all the ones you listed The Thrills were the most underrated and didn’t get played here nearly as much as the rest of them despite having some good songs. Have you heard of the band, Turin Brakes? They were kinda similar and had a hit here with their song, ‘Painkiller’ (which I will post the video of below) but they weren’t able to really follow it up with another one and I think a lot of people have sadly forgotten them now but I have some friends who like them too. Ohh and another band I have been meaning to ask you if you like are Wilco () and they have got a lot of albums and singles out but for some reason radio and music channels mostly ignored them here but our music magazines acknowledged them.
Turin Brakes – Pain Killer
That’s interesting what they do with the White Stripes’ song, ‘Seven Nation Army’ at the football and I didn’t know about that and things did get weird for a while when people thought they were related and strangely enough we used to have a band here and the two lead singers were siblings and it was revealed they were in a relationship with each other and that was pretty much the end anybody ever heard of them and all their songs were removed from radio and music channels after they had a few hits out that were pretty popular in the early 00s. I am sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy ‘Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1’ that much and we should be able to see it later this week so I will let you know my thoughts on it but I have been very curious to see it since I have read the Graphic Novel and want to see how it compares to that and I wasn't a big fan of the animated adaptation of 'Batman Hush' and thought it was silly to have Hush turn out to be the Riddler instead of Thomas Elliot but I think they wanted to surprise viewers and knowing the Riddler is a more well known character they thought it would be a better reveal but a lot of fans didn't like it. I wasn't fond of 'The Killing Joke' either but I was never a fan of the graphic novel. One of the more recent animated DC movies we enjoyed was 'Superman: Man of Tomorrow' and it was kinda different than other Superman adaptations that have showed how he become Superman and was meant to be a modern retelling of his story and I liked how they had Martian Manhunter and Lobo in it and Parasite as the main villain. I have seen 'Road Games' and we re-watched it a few years ago for the first time in a long time and enjoyed it and I am glad you liked it too and there is one recent Australian movie I forgot to say I really liked when you were talking about Australian movies called 'Oddball' and it is based on a true story and here is a trailer for it below. I hope you are having a good weekend and will await your next reply.

Had a bit of a up and down weeked, or few last days, so to speak. I guess the summer heat is taking its stroll, and by that, I mean it kind of ruins my sleeping routine, where as it gets to a level, where I became quite desperate, and would begin to think of stuffing my head, inside the freezer at times. However, thankfully, bad and much colder weather is soon arriving, or so the say. And I guess I am not much of a summer person, love the fall/winter, spring come next up, and then summertime. However, with so little sunny and warm days, I guess I will just have to cope and take what is coming, as soon as it has arrived, it is all over, and another 7-8 months of darkness and cold is back on track. But that is how the norwegian climate tend to be, and so I should probably not complain too much. As it is rarely so hot, as in other countries, where that kind of temprature, is most likely just another day. Still, I am kind of surprised that so many people, are actually thinking of having their vacation in countries, which soon might turn red, and become locked down. Sad to hear that things has not gotten better since last we spoke, but having seen a bit of what goes around in Europe the last few days, it seems like a lot of the countries which are popular tourist destinations, specially from those at scandinavian countries, it looks like some bad times might be ahead, and I sure hope it will not return back to how it was, just a few months ago, were everything were closed down, and yeah, I guess we just will have to be patient, and see. Having seen through almost a month of football with the European Cup going on for full, I was sad to see how crazy and out of control, things got before, during and after the final got played at Wembley, between England and Italy. Such scenes, brings shame and sadness, and must be dealt with, much more effective in the future. Also, how they got away with playing in front of an almost packed stadium, again, I am very surprised, not in a good way. I fear this will once again, cause negative results, very soon, and it will end up with so many other businesses and activities that suffer, where as the Premier League and other big football leagues, will just go back to normal. Yeah, sadly, the norwegian politicians has a "weird" way of handling out their money, specially on things that just is, well, for the "specially interested", which often means the ones with money, lots of it, or some artsy fartsy galleria, for painters that make awful "art", but somehow rich people love to hang it on their wall, or go looking at it. However, it is shamefully, when some of it, could have been benefitting for those, with no so much money, and also in order to give kids and teenagers, a bit of a option, from time time. A lot youth clubs, is either closed down, or just looks in very bad shape, and instead of handing out some help, to rebuild, too often, it is ignored, and when the politicians try to score some cheap points, by bringing it up, it is usually on stuff, that kids and teens barely have no interest in. The firefighters, ligthing up their own fires, almost sounds like something straight out a Hollywood thriller, kind of like Backdraft (1991), which is probably one of the few, if not that many good firefighters films, even if it become quite Hollywoodish at times, but yeah, I somehow immediately began to picture Donald Sutherland, who I think played a serial killer, using fire to murder his victims, and it is even more scary to think there are professional firefighters out there, doing this terrible things, in real life. Someone most people look up to, or put their trust in, and so sad, to have a few rotten eggs, trying to destroy the image of what so many brave people do every day, as part of their job. I hope this is not something of a "trend", but you never know with these sick people, there are a lot of copy cats out there, maybe even more with all the social media going on 24/7.
I guess I usually tend to be always a bit late, when doing the present shopping, but I feel I have kind of gotten a bit better on, than earlier. Still, for me, I usually decorate and begin to check up on things, around halfway through in December, but when I am finished, it stays like that, for, well as long as I feel. Which usually means, at least to the end of January, or if the winter has been kind of dull, not much snow outside (which sadly is not that uncommong the last years) I might even drag it out to February/March. As a kid, I loved to decorate, because it would cheer me up, knowing what would soon arrive. Making christmas cookies with my mum, or grandma, where as my dad, well, he prefered to eat them, not bake them. Gingerbreadmen, or pepperkaker (as we call them in norway) is a classic, but the crazy thing, is that some cookies or cakes, have grown into such popularity, that these products, do not arrive only for a few weeks/month a year, but they are there, every day, ever year. Like christmas cake, or julekake (again in norwegian), and it might have a different title in english, but this is something which causes quite a confusion with some workers, who come from other countries, and if you as for christmas cake, they will give you a weird look, and kind of like "You know it is not christmas time now, right?" but it is also very funny, when you have to explain and show them, and they often see the comedy of it all. Anyway, that is nice to have such positive influence which you seem to have towards your neighbors, but be carefully, as maybe the decorating and christmas light, could turn into quite a "rivalry", and before you know it, you might end up with something out of a Chevy Chase movie: Not sure if you enjoy christmas themed movies, but I sure have a weak spot for that kind of entertainment, even if there is a whole lot of terrible films, I end up watching a bit too many of them, at times that is. In Norway, we have a few tv channels, which begin to air these films (usually the typical Hallmark productions) as early as back in mid October, and then all the way up to 24th of December. However, as long as I feel there is a Christmas vibe both indoor and outdoors, I like to catch me a few of those, on a weekly basis. And speaking of Christmas movies, if you have any, what are you favorites? And do you have any Australian recommendations? I guess most of those I tend to re-watch, is usually american, english or scandinavian ones, so could maybe do with a few ones, from other countries as well. Anyway, as a bit of a tradition, and one which is also, or used to be (somehow, the film has not been shown for a few years on norwegian television, might be due to some rights or something, which has caused them to lose out to show it anylonger, sadly) shown every 23rd, the day before Christmas, is Christmas Vacation (1989), and I often end up watching it in my bed, as it has that cosy feel and tone to it, and I usually end up falling a sleep, not because it is boring, but it is just one of those comfy films, and of course, the next morning, I would watch the rest, while eating christmas dinner. I guess if I had had the guts, or will, to try hunt down or meet up with a few of my favorite acts or musicians, I am not sure how it would go. I kind of like to keep a distance, as the fear of being let down, and yeah, I know most of them are just "ordinary" people, but you never know how one self, might behave, in certain situations, not saying I would act like some crazed out "lunatic", screaming and yelling my lungs out, but also because it would hurt, if one ends up with a very negative meeting, and knowing that it will most likely do something, about ones "relationship" to the artist or band, but yeah, who knows, I have never really been in that kind of situation before. I guess the closest to a big music star, that I had within a certain "distance", was when Tina Turner visited Oslo in the summer of 1996, which was ridiculous loud, so much, I had to hold my hands over my ears, for the entire 2-3 hours of time. And the bass, it just kept feeling like it was piercing through me, constantly. However, I have over the years, hear and read upon a quite few stories of "famous" norwegians, by others. However, we are small country, and there is often a certain jeleaousy towards those who make it big, specially within certain crowds, and some nasty and false rumors often will be spread out in the media, so I am not trusting many of those negative stories too much. Of all the people within the entertainment world, that I would love to meet up with, (including sadly one that is no longer with us, but his legacy is still very strong) is John Candy. I feel like he might have been one of those real good guys, and only seems to have positive and pleasant stories coming from other people he have either worked with, or those who has been lucky too meet him, as fans getting the chance to chat with him. Of course, he most likely (as everybody) had bad days, but I think he had the talent of still putting that behind him, for now, when meet up with fans and audience, and seemed like a class act in handling that situation, where as sadly many others, could probably take a few lessons in how you behave towards other. Yeah, Batman the Killing Joke and Batman: Hush, were also neither films, which made me all too "impressed". Some of them, feel, well, very hasty made, at least when it comes to the animation and the story/character build up, something which I had hoped The Long Halloween Part 1, could have dealt with a bit better. Still, I might give it another go, once I pick up on Part 2, which is rumored to be released on the 26h of July. By the way, thanks so much for recommending Oddball (2015), that is a film I had never heard of, but watching the trailer, I immediately noticed the voice of Shane Jacobsen, whom starred in the hilarious and very charming mockumentary, Kenny (2006), that is one of my favorite comedies of the 00s. I did see, that there is a region 2, DVD copy at one of the few online movie and music stores in Norway, and in the product info, below, it includes some pages of each of the main actors, and when I clicked on Jacobsen, I got recommend another interesting and unseen film, which he plays against Paul Hogan, and is called Charlie and Boots. Maybe I will pick up the both of them later this month, along with Batman: The Long Halloween Part 2. As it is always nice, to keep "stumbling" upon interesting films. Make sure to have a great upcoming weekend, and we will be catching up again later on.

Here are a few of the most memorable ones in my mind for me at the moment .
Hey mszanadu , glad to see you are back on the music threads, even though I might have missed out on a few of your latest posts/replies, its nice to catch up once more with your choices of videos and songs. Thanks so much for starting up with the incredible and very beautiful music video of The Stranglers and their classic cut, Golden Brown. One which, well, the last few times I tried looking up, either were blocked out completely, or just had the song itself, but the video were all taken down, so the uploaders had to include a picture or images from the video, but now that it has been restored, I finally re-watched again. Might be among my all time favorite combinations of songs/video, that fits so well together. Like a little movie, about just 3 minutes long, yet it manages to create so much feelings and emotions. It has that classic early 80s new wavish elegance and adventurous touch over it, as well. Also, I enjoyed the more calm downed jazzy late night version, of Dave Brubeck. Lovely stuff. Speaking of Brubeck, I still have not gotten around to give a few listens to the CD (I believe it is called Time Out) but your fine songs selections here, is a good reminder that I shall do so, very soon. I guess the same could be said about Miles Davis, even though I have heard several of his albums before, they are probably in need of another visit. The Howard Jones song, Out of Thin Air. Beautiful stuff, did he do more of this kind of music during the late 80s? Very different (in a great way) to what I have heard of him, at least through the little that I have picked up on, but I guess he changed his style dramatically later on? Also forgot to mention, I did go through The Stranglers and their classic debut Rattus Norvegicus (1977) some time back, and for me, still one of the greatest punk-rock releases of the late 70s. Almost every cut is a gem, and if they had combined that record and its best moments, along with their follow up, No More Heroes (1977). I think it would be surely among the best albums of the 70s. Sadly, in a way, that did not happen. I guess the same could be said about so many other records of that period, which had bands releasing two or three albums in less than a year, and also another british act, Ultravox! (the John Foxx era) had two very good first albums released the same year as The Stranglers, and where the debut shows lots of potential, the follow up is for me, on a whole different level of quality and power. Still, if it had included maybe one of two of the best cuts from the debut, it would easily lie in the top 10 of the best 70s records I have heard. Anyway, I guess the good thing, is that you got two albums, containing even more music, even if a few of the songs are not on the same level as the better ones. I still have not gotten to re-visit Discovery by Daft Punk, even though I will most likely do so, before summer ends. Thanks for your fine post/contribution, and for some very interesting songs, that I will try to look up, further on.

How are you going today and how are things over in Norway lately? I am sorry to hear about the hot weather you have been experiencing and I know exactly what you mean with the summer heat and I usually turn the air conditioner on cool and take my clothes off when it gets boiling hot like that here and aside from some cold mornings and rain the weather has been pretty good this month and is not as cold as it was in June and I think we might have got all the Winter weather like the Cold Snaps and Polar Blasts out of the way early this year since we started getting them back in autumn but we have at least another 6 weeks until spring so the coldest days might still be ahead. I have always preferred warm weather ‘cause I always get the flu when it is cold () and as much as I like Ice Skating and the ‘Frozen’ movies I would be lying if I said “the cold never bothered me anyway.” Having 7-8 months of darkness doesn’t sound like fun and does it snow much in Norway ‘cause Beccy and I don’t get snow where we live but there are some parts of New South Wales that do like the Blue Mountains.
We have hailstorms every now and then and some of those can be dangerous ‘cause the hail can get as big as the size of Golf and Tennis balls and people have been killed and injured during them when they haven’t been able to get to cover and there was a Mother on the news a few years ago who got stuck in her car near Sydney with her child and the hail destroyed the roof and she shielded her child from it and had all red marks and cuts all over her back from it. Thankfully hailstorms that bad aren’t common here but they do happen every now and then and I have seen them destroy verandahs and it can be a pretty terrifying experience. Some of the things I dislike about summer is when it is so hot and we have sun showers the rain is hot too and the concrete burns your feet when you haven’t got anything on and does it get hot to the point where you can cook things outside under the sun ‘cause that surprisingly happens here and I have never seen anybody do it in person but have seen them do it on the news and did you know can also use a magnifying glass to light things on fire with the sun?
I am surprised anybody is thinking about vacations with the threat of the Coronavirus still looming in our countries too especially when most of the holiday destinations here especially the Coastal towns were among the biggest Hot Spots when the pandemic began and Beccy and I were actually planning on going to the beach last year and ended up having to cancel before our Prime Minister announced the Shutdown ‘cause the chances of us getting it were too high. Yeah. Things have gotten a lot worse with the Coronavirus in our state and right now it is spreading faster than it ever has before and I am having trouble keeping up with the numbers but we are now somewhere over 800 cases and getting close to 900 and among those cases has been Nurses and Doctors and there was one Nurse who was fully vaccinated that still got it and things like that are one of the reasons why people are not getting vaccinated here ‘cause they think they will still get it anyway. The Second Wave in Victoria got to 700 and stopped last year and we have gone way passed them now which I never thought would happen but the one good thing is we aren’t having anywhere near as many deaths as they had and I think we have only had less than 10 deaths since this cluster started and hopefully it stays that way.
One worrying thing for us is we had a number of confirmed cases in our area and three of the people said they went to our Coles Shopping Centre earlier this week and they revealed the dates and times they were there and the Butcher’s has closed down and thankfully Beccy wasn’t there on those days but she’s going to Woolworths to do our grocery shopping until the numbers go down and my family and friends are doing the same. Victoria is going into Lockdown again too ‘cause they are having new cases in their state again that appear to have come from ours and my Aunt in Victoria is living in one of the red zones and she isn’t going out and the difference between their Premier and ours is he has put the entire state into Lockdown until the numbers go down. Still, the Football is going on here too and we just had the third match of the State of Origin up in Queensland which has been having cases too and if they see in an increase in cases in the next week it is going to be their Premier’s or Queen (as Anastacia is now being called) fault for allowing the event to have a crowd.
I am sorry to hear your Politicians are the same when it comes to spending money in Norway and do they use the cost of the Coronavirus as an excuse not to do some of the things they promised people they would do before elections but when they want something done all of a sudden they can get the money and it magically appears ‘cause that’s what ours do and it is funny you mentioned artsy fartsy things ‘cause last year the Queensland Premier decided to have some big makeover done to all these facilities where they have morning tea and lunch at and I can’t remember how much they said it cost but it was a lot more than what she was telling people she could spend on other things and then our Premier done something similar and they showed some of these places and they have inside gardens and fountains and paintings hanging up and it is ridiculous how much money they will spend on that but a lot of the time won’t spend it on doing things they promised. It is hard to believe most of their promises ‘cause they rarely keep them and the thing that annoys me the most is when they say they are going to do all these things 5 to 10 to even 20 years from now and the Treasurer does it every time we have the budget and there is a good chance the parties won’t even be in by then and they should stick to talking about the years they are in government.
Yeah. The Firefighters lighting their own fires does sound like something that has come from a movie and I remember seeing ‘Backdraft’ years ago and did you know they made a sequel for it ‘cause I was not expecting one to come out so long after the first one. Sadly what they do is real though and they even get family and friends to help them do it and one Firefighter was caught out here ‘cause he was getting his Brother light the fires for him and then he would report them and go out to put them out and take all the credit for putting them out and another Firefighter saw his Brother and figured out it was the two of them doing it together. I can only imagine how the other Firefighters must feel when they find out the truth about these people since some worked with them for years and didn’t pick up on it and it would be a stab in the back for them. It makes you wonder how they do it when they put lives at risk too ‘cause their jobs are to save lives but then I heard Ted Bundy spent years working at a Suicide Helpline and stopped people from killing themselves only to take lives himself.
Thank you for answering my questions about Christmas and hopefully we can go Christmas shopping this year ‘cause it is just not the same buying everything online and do you have any Christmas shops ‘cause we have a really big one here we love to go to every year and it has so many Christmas things you can’t get anywhere else and a massive amount of decorations. They even have a lot of Christmas Activity books we usually get for my Nieces and Nephew and give them as presents when they break up from School for the Christmas holidays and did you have those growing up ‘cause we did here but they aren’t as big as they are now and now some of them even have links to websites where there is additional activities for kids to print off and do. Decorating is fun and it is even more fun when there are children around and since they were old enough to do it my Nieces have come over every year to help Beccy and I decorate our Christmas Tree and we have heaps of Christmas ornaments for it and I made some of them myself and sell Christmas ornaments and decorations I make to family, friends and people I work with too.
My Uncle helps Beccy hang the Christmas lights up out the front of our house and did I tell you Beccy doesn’t allow me to climb up on the roof anymore ‘cause I accidentally fell off the roof one year () and I am lucky to be alive and didn’t seriously injure myself. I like to cook a lot of things for Christmas too and I always make Christmas Crackles, Chocolate Crackles and White Christmas and do you have Christmas puddings in Norway ‘cause I hate Christmas puddings () but I heard they don’t have it in America and was pretty surprised over that ‘cause a lot of people like it here and I always thought it was something people had around the world. Christmas Puddings might be similar to your Christmas Cakes and do they have dried fruit in them? What happened with some of your Christmas foods was the same thing that happened here too and you can Gingerbread Man in some bakeries all year and Anzac Biscuits that used to only be available to get on Anzac Day you can buy all year and it is funny how that happened and I heard you can buy Crème Eggs all year long in the UK.
Speaking about Chocolates do you have Christmas Chocolates ‘cause I love Cadbury Caramel Santa’s, Marshmallow Santa’s, Magical Elves (Popping Candy) and Christmas Trees and we buy a LOT of those every year mostly to share with my family and friends along with Candy Canes when they come over but as a chocolate lover Christmas is one of the best times of the year behind Easter. () Thanks and no, I don’t think we need to worry about that happening in our street and you remind me of that Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick (‘Deck the Halls’) movie talking about that Yes, We do love watching Christmas movies here along with movies that take place at Christmas and there seems to be some confusion over what counts as a Christmas movie lately ‘cause of movies such as ‘Die Hard’ and ‘Home Alone’ that fit in the latter category and have you ever seen any Christmas Horror movies ‘cause there are quite a few those out () and there was one movie called ‘Santa’s Slay’ with WWE Wrestler, Goldberg playing a not so friendly Santa Claus that is worth checking out if you haven’t seen it already.
Yes. We like to watch a lot of the Hallmark Christmas movies too and they have many Actors from TV Shows in them we know and we used to get heaps of Christmas movies here on Foxtel but then they started getting really slack with them in the past decade and were mostly only showing the same old movies but in the last few years they added a Christmas Channel with new and old Christmas movies and we also have a radio channel that plays Christmas Music nonstop in December and have you got any favourite Christmas albums? I have a lot of favourite Christmas movies and ‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’ is one of them we watch every year too and it is one that never gets old in my opinion and there are so many things in it that can still crack me up. My second favourite Christmas movie is 'Santa Buddies: The Legend of Santa Paws' and there were two spinoff movies from that called 'The Search for Santa Paws' and 'Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups' which I liked too and third would have to be the 1964 'Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer' Christmas movie and I had trouble getting that on DVD here and they used to air it on TV every Christmas when I was young but then they stopped and I wanted my Nieces and Nephew to see it and when they finally did they loved it too. Have you seen Olivia Newton John's Christmas movies, 'A Christmas Romance' and 'A Mum For Christmas?' Funny enough I can't really think of any Australian Christmas movies and we have a few Australian Christmas albums but the only one that comes to mind is 'Bush Christmas' which had Nicole Kidman in one of her first roles.
We still haven't seen 'Batman: The Long Halloween Part One' yet 'cause they didn't add it to Foxtel's New Releases section this week like I thought they would and we are going to wait and see if they add it next week but if they don't we will get it on DVD so we will have it to go with all the other Batman animated movies we own and what did you think of 'Batman: Soul of the Dragon' 'cause that was pretty different than the other Batman movies and he spent more time in it as Bruce Wayne than Batman and had Richard Dragon and Lady Shiva with him and I liked that one and was happy to finally see Lady Shiva get more screen time and I think out of all the female villains in DC that haven't been used in the Live Action movies and TV Shows Lady Shiva deserves a chance to be in one the most. You're welcome for the 'Oddball' recommendation and I hope you enjoy it if you decide to get it and yeah, Shane Jacobson is pretty famous here and has been in a lot of movies and TV Shows. Anyways, I'll end it here before it gets any bigger and I hope you have a great weekend and look forward to hearing from you again.

I'm on a Righteous Brothers binge lately. To sound they way they do, live, no auto tune no all that other rubbish that so many so called 'artists' of today use - they are beyond incredible.
Unchained Melody - greatest love song ever written, and best live vocal performance ever, in my opinion.
You've Lost That Loving Feeling - their two voices are just so wonderful together.
I Just Wanna Make Love to You

Hi Stefancrosscoe How are you going today and how are things over in Norway lately?
Sorry about the late reply, as I am a bit behind on several of those these days. But I felt I should save a bit of time, replying to yours, as most of the other ones the last days from other members and threads/posts, are usually a bit shorter written, but I kind of feel I need to do a bit of replying there as well, and I have a "thing" of trying to never leave the place, without the participated section is still showing a "New" bolded blueish update sign, or at least if I have time and interest. And as writing right now, it seems like it just will not make me leave the site for a while, and seems very busy with active threads this day. But thankfully, I guess I have a bit of time to check upon those later on. I am pretty fine these days, thanks for asking. The weather is actually now cooling down or off, a bit. And a few days ago, it got so chilly and windy, I had to close all the windows, because it felt like all of a sudden, that it was in the late October month, however yesterday, the sun hit back with full force, and today, well it is a bit of both, which I really do enjoy much more. Sunny and warm, but with a bit of wind, during the day, and more chilling and relaxing tempratures during night, which is surely much more comforting to sleep during. Sadly, the snow weather has been usually very poor, at least where I live (Oslo). I still have great childhood memories from back in the 90s, when it was so much snow, that I would "drown" in it, if I went outdoors. Of course, us kids loved snow, but our parents did not. I guess they saw more problems, than fun, and yeah, it sure can cause quite a lot of difficulties, but still, there has been some really good winters, with cold and lots of snow, a few years, here and there. But during Christmas, it has kind of gotten normal, that is rains more likely, than we get any snow. If so, it is usally the kind that comes, and melts almost immediately. I remember my dad, often joked about his childhood, and how it would snow (at whole lot) even as far into the mid/late May, and that is the period between late spring and early summer, so yeah, it can sure be maybe, a bit too much of a good thing. Had to search up Hailstorms, as I was not quite sure what it was, but in Norway we seem to call it "haggel", and I guess we do not get the size of hailstorms as you do. However, I remember coming home from football training on a bike, and halfway home, all of a sudden it begin to burst down upon on me, all these hard/icy small but not very "enjoyable" balls, and I seeeked out a shelter through a nearby roof or house, until it went over. The heat on concrete and asphalt during the most warm of summertime, I kind of have a certain nostalgia to, at least from my childhood, and we ran barefoot onto it, sometimes it was so hot, one would only last a few seconds, then jump with feet straight into the nearest pool. Right now, certain cities in Norway has surely become less aware of the risk of staying to close to other people, while going out to the town at night, and just last night, the news brought some attention out, that people need to still have at least 1 meter distance from each other, or at least try to not end up in larger and packed groups, when out eating, clubbing and so on. Also, we keep getting the possibility of a 4th wave, but for now, I hope that will not happen any time soon, but when all those having travelled out from the country, towards those, who suddenly is being mared red or orange, as potential risk zones, I guess those will get a surprise when trying to return, as it might not be as easy as when they left. After almost 7 months of not having any of the gym centers open, it is surprisingly few who seems to visit them, at least where I love. Of course, it is still summer vacation, and I guess that is a big reason why, but the last visits there, I have been almost completely alone. But that is of course not something I think of as problem, quite the opposite. It makes you wonder how they do it when they put lives at risk too ‘cause their jobs are to save lives but then I heard Ted Bundy spent years working at a Suicide Helpline and stopped people from killing themselves only to take lives himself.
Yeah, I have feeling the excuses would maybe be more "easy" for certain political sides, to get through their cases, now more than ever, as an way of manipulating for votes now during a pandemic, and I fear many will not realize or see what is going on right in front of them, and just takes it for granted, that trust the politicans, and every thing will be "fine". As kid I loved Backdraft, and somehow, I forgot a sequel were made. Not sure if I will pick it up, but noticed William Baldwin and I believe Donald Sutherland has some roles in it as well. For a short period, it looked like William would go onto become a promising you star in the 90s, but I guess that did not work out. Not that he has had a "terrible" career, as he has most likely been in a ton of movies since, but I really enjoyed his work with Flatliners and Backdraft, then I guess things kind of dried out a bit. The stuff about Ted Bundy, I did not know of. Sounds very disturbing. I guess christmas shopping is usually something I just like to "be done with", as sadly when you grow older, the more romantic feel of nostalgia from my childhood, is blown away by awful loud and overplayed Christmas music, stressed out and angry customers, and yeah, I would like to visit stores and towns, with a more downbeat and calm mood during Christmas period and going out shopping, or just browsing through the windows. But for many, Christmas shopping is like a "nightmare" at times. However, I often have this little fantasy, of just heading out to one of the smaller villages, and have look, see if any thing might be different in how people behave and act to each others. I do remember we had something called Christmas shop, during school days, where we would learn and get the possibilty to make gifts, and I think I actually have a few of them, lying somewhere, collecting dust. Falling off the roof? Now that sounds serious, and I am glad you did not get seriously hurt, as I remember hearing some horror stories from my dad, about people felling off the roofs, when he was a kid, and that was usually due to Christmas and maybe, a bit too many drinks, not implying that you had a few too many. Christmas pudding, I actually do not believe we ever had that, or that it is something us norwegian has a taste for during Christmas time. However, Christmas cake, is probably not much in comming, either taste or look, to Christmas pudding: As seen on the image above, there is raisins inside the cake, or I guess it should be more fitting to call it Christmas bread, as that is surely more how it taste, only sweet and very good, with butter or brown cheese/goat cheese to it. Hm, favorite Christmas chocolate? That is actually quite a hard question, as I guess the closest would be Norwegian marzipan, covered in chocolate. Of course, the best ones, I believe is the danish ones, called Anthon Berg candy and chocolate, and surely some of the german or swizz chocolate, that easily beats out any of the norwegian stuff, or least what they usually sell in the stores. I think the best Christmas chocolate marzipan, is the one that has a bit more fill to it, and is not too dry in taste. Sadly, that latter part, is what often happens with the norwegian candy, it taste too dry and anything but how you kind of hope for. Santa's Slay I enjoyed, and own it on DVD. I kind of hoped it would maybe get a follow up, one day, but I guess the chances for that happening, is not very big. But surely among the more enjoyable and re-watchable of the Christmas films made in the 00s and beyond. Yeah, what goes down as a Christmas movie, is kind of more up to each and own, I think. Many do not rate the first Die Hard films as Christmas films, but for me, I love to watch that kind of action movies, with lots of snow and Christmas themed stuff put in, and director Renny Harlin made quite a action filled "snowy" trilogy back in the 90s, with Die Hard 2 (1990), Cliffhanger (1993) and my favorite that were The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996). Then one have Lethal Weapon (1987), The Last Boy Scout (1991) and probably many others, I have forgotten about, right now, but that also fits well into that holiday time. When it comes to Christmas horror films, I have sadly not seen many, that I think of a great or very good either, but Black Christmas (1974), the first two Silent Night, Deadly Night films and maybe my favorite, which I do not really think of as a pure horror movie, even though it often is brought along, as a "slasher" release, and that is Christmas Evil (1980). That one, I think is very underrated, in that it was, and still is very badly promoted, and feels more like a psychological drama-thriller, with some horror elements, here and there. For me, the real reason to why I like it so much, is the story of a grown up man, who witnessed something bad as kid, during Christmas, and has since then, been completely obssessed about anything related to Christmas and Santa Clause, so much, that he ends up dressing as Santa, and writes down his own lists of who has been good or naughty, and yeah, it might move a bit slow in pace, but the atmosphere and the acting, I think is very well done. I like the message behind it, that for many, Christmas is a rather sad and lonely time, and not just about using as much money on "garbage" as possible, or get drunk and mean, but to really try and better one self, care for your loved ones and fellow man, not just one day a year, but maybe a bit of that, every day. Sadly, the film suffered badly, due to many walking in, thinking it would be a sleazy b-movie horror film, which it really is not. And I guess it is just one of those, that have stayed with me, in a way few other Christmas films has done, and yeah, I really recommend it, at least if you are interested in a bit of a "different" movie, than the more typical glittering and shiny Hollywood releases. In Norway, we had a very popular Christmas calender tv-show, called The Julekalender, which was a remake of the original danish show, but back when it was aired (it got so huge and popular, that it was aired twice, in three years) in 1994, the whole show was like a cultural phenomenen, everybody saw it, knew the one-liners and where the music had a very important part, to why it succeeded so much. I have the CD and entire show on DVD, but have not seen it, since Christmas of 2003. Somehow, certain songs of course, sticks out a bit more, or movie soundtracks, like the ones by John Williams and his great and very charming and beautiful music. Even some Christmas commercials, stands out more as you get older. I think my all time favorite Christmas commercial is the one, that so well uses the classic Chris Rea song, Driving Home for Christmas, and it was released with the norwegian candy giant, Nidar and their Christmas marzipan pig, back in the end of 2001. It really made me all nostalgic, in a great way, as it kind of felt like travelling back in time, and how we would celebrate Christmas, and how would look outdoor, when we drove to family members with gifts and, yeah, I could almost smell the food and the atmosphere, through the television set.
I still have not gotten around to see Soul of Dragon, but I might do so very soon, as I picked it up a while ago, along with a bunch of others films as well. However, I am very tempted to return to the first two Batman films of Tim Burton, as I guess you might have seen through your fine post and images of the first Batman movie, in the Post an image from the last film you saw, thread in Film General. Well, I guess that will be it for now, until next time. Hope things will ease up and become better in Australia, and that you will have a nice weekend. By the way, I know I said earlier on, that I was planning on re-listening to a few of the Oasis and Blur albums I own. I still have not gotten to Oasis, yet, but have been through a few more of the Blur Cds I got, and where my favorite, surely is their 1994 release, Parklife. I love how varied in sounds and genres that record really is. Also noticed how much influence XTC had on some of their songs, but my favorite cut, turned out to be quite pleasant surprise, as I had no idea how much alike Damon Albarn sounded to John Foxx from the early Ultravox days, love that icy and futuristic synth-rock beat, which Ultravox did so great back in the mid to late 70s, but sadly never got their break through, as I guess it collided with the whole punk rock and disco era, and the one who I guess, most realized the potential John Foxx and Ultravox was doing back then, was a youn Gary Numan, who together with Tubeway Army, would reach the top of the charts, several times over, with their own hits, but with a sound, heavily influenced by the Ultravox 1976-1978 era. Anyway, this is the Blur cut I was telling about, and it just might be one of the best songs I have heard of them, so very different than their other ones, and probably why I fell for it.

Hey there stefancrosscoe !!
