Hi Stefancrosscoe How are you going today and how are things over in Norway lately? I am sorry to hear about the hot weather you have been experiencing and I know exactly what you mean with the summer heat and I usually turn the air conditioner on cool and take my clothes off when it gets boiling hot like that here and aside from some cold mornings and rain the weather has been pretty good this month and is not as cold as it was in June and I think we might have got all the Winter weather like the Cold Snaps and Polar Blasts out of the way early this year since we started getting them back in autumn but we have at least another 6 weeks until spring so the coldest days might still be ahead. I have always preferred warm weather ‘cause I always get the flu when it is cold () and as much as I like Ice Skating and the ‘Frozen’ movies I would be lying if I said “the cold never bothered me anyway.” Having 7-8 months of darkness doesn’t sound like fun and does it snow much in Norway ‘cause Beccy and I don’t get snow where we live but there are some parts of New South Wales that do like the Blue Mountains.
We have hailstorms every now and then and some of those can be dangerous ‘cause the hail can get as big as the size of Golf and Tennis balls and people have been killed and injured during them when they haven’t been able to get to cover and there was a Mother on the news a few years ago who got stuck in her car near Sydney with her child and the hail destroyed the roof and she shielded her child from it and had all red marks and cuts all over her back from it. Thankfully hailstorms that bad aren’t common here but they do happen every now and then and I have seen them destroy verandahs and it can be a pretty terrifying experience. Some of the things I dislike about summer is when it is so hot and we have sun showers the rain is hot too and the concrete burns your feet when you haven’t got anything on and does it get hot to the point where you can cook things outside under the sun ‘cause that surprisingly happens here and I have never seen anybody do it in person but have seen them do it on the news and did you know can also use a magnifying glass to light things on fire with the sun?
Sorry about the late reply, as I am a bit behind on several of those these days. But I felt I should save a bit of time, replying to yours, as most of the other ones the last days from other members and threads/posts, are usually a bit shorter written, but I kind of feel I need to do a bit of replying there as well, and I have a "thing" of trying to never leave the place, without the participated section is still showing a "New" bolded blueish update sign, or at least if I have time and interest. And as writing right now, it seems like it just will not make me leave the site for a while, and seems very busy with active threads this day. But thankfully, I guess I have a bit of time to check upon those later on. I am pretty fine these days, thanks for asking. The weather is actually now cooling down or off, a bit. And a few days ago, it got so chilly and windy, I had to close all the windows, because it felt like all of a sudden, that it was in the late October month, however yesterday, the sun hit back with full force, and today, well it is a bit of both, which I really do enjoy much more. Sunny and warm, but with a bit of wind, during the day, and more chilling and relaxing tempratures during night, which is surely much more comforting to sleep during. Sadly, the snow weather has been usually very poor, at least where I live (Oslo). I still have great childhood memories from back in the 90s, when it was so much snow, that I would "drown" in it, if I went outdoors. Of course, us kids loved snow, but our parents did not. I guess they saw more problems, than fun, and yeah, it sure can cause quite a lot of difficulties, but still, there has been some really good winters, with cold and lots of snow, a few years, here and there. But during Christmas, it has kind of gotten normal, that is rains more likely, than we get any snow. If so, it is usally the kind that comes, and melts almost immediately. I remember my dad, often joked about his childhood, and how it would snow (at whole lot) even as far into the mid/late May, and that is the period between late spring and early summer, so yeah, it can sure be maybe, a bit too much of a good thing. Had to search up Hailstorms, as I was not quite sure what it was, but in Norway we seem to call it "haggel", and I guess we do not get the size of hailstorms as you do. However, I remember coming home from football training on a bike, and halfway home, all of a sudden it begin to burst down upon on me, all these hard/icy small but not very "enjoyable" balls, and I seeeked out a shelter through a nearby roof or house, until it went over. The heat on concrete and asphalt during the most warm of summertime, I kind of have a certain nostalgia to, at least from my childhood, and we ran barefoot onto it, sometimes it was so hot, one would only last a few seconds, then jump with feet straight into the nearest pool. I am surprised anybody is thinking about vacations with the threat of the Coronavirus still looming in our countries too especially when most of the holiday destinations here especially the Coastal towns were among the biggest Hot Spots when the pandemic began and Beccy and I were actually planning on going to the beach last year and ended up having to cancel before our Prime Minister announced the Shutdown ‘cause the chances of us getting it were too high. Yeah. Things have gotten a lot worse with the Coronavirus in our state and right now it is spreading faster than it ever has before and I am having trouble keeping up with the numbers but we are now somewhere over 800 cases and getting close to 900 and among those cases has been Nurses and Doctors and there was one Nurse who was fully vaccinated that still got it and things like that are one of the reasons why people are not getting vaccinated here ‘cause they think they will still get it anyway. The Second Wave in Victoria got to 700 and stopped last year and we have gone way passed them now which I never thought would happen but the one good thing is we aren’t having anywhere near as many deaths as they had and I think we have only had less than 10 deaths since this cluster started and hopefully it stays that way.
One worrying thing for us is we had a number of confirmed cases in our area and three of the people said they went to our Coles Shopping Centre earlier this week and they revealed the dates and times they were there and the Butcher’s has closed down and thankfully Beccy wasn’t there on those days but she’s going to Woolworths to do our grocery shopping until the numbers go down and my family and friends are doing the same. Victoria is going into Lockdown again too ‘cause they are having new cases in their state again that appear to have come from ours and my Aunt in Victoria is living in one of the red zones and she isn’t going out and the difference between their Premier and ours is he has put the entire state into Lockdown until the numbers go down. Still, the Football is going on here too and we just had the third match of the State of Origin up in Queensland which has been having cases too and if they see in an increase in cases in the next week it is going to be their Premier’s or Queen (as Anastacia is now being called) fault for allowing the event to have a crowd.
Right now, certain cities in Norway has surely become less aware of the risk of staying to close to other people, while going out to the town at night, and just last night, the news brought some attention out, that people need to still have at least 1 meter distance from each other, or at least try to not end up in larger and packed groups, when out eating, clubbing and so on. Also, we keep getting the possibility of a 4th wave, but for now, I hope that will not happen any time soon, but when all those having travelled out from the country, towards those, who suddenly is being mared red or orange, as potential risk zones, I guess those will get a surprise when trying to return, as it might not be as easy as when they left. After almost 7 months of not having any of the gym centers open, it is surprisingly few who seems to visit them, at least where I love. Of course, it is still summer vacation, and I guess that is a big reason why, but the last visits there, I have been almost completely alone. But that is of course not something I think of as problem, quite the opposite. I am sorry to hear your Politicians are the same when it comes to spending money in Norway and do they use the cost of the Coronavirus as an excuse not to do some of the things they promised people they would do before elections but when they want something done all of a sudden they can get the money and it magically appears ‘cause that’s what ours do and it is funny you mentioned artsy fartsy things ‘cause last year the Queensland Premier decided to have some big makeover done to all these facilities where they have morning tea and lunch at and I can’t remember how much they said it cost but it was a lot more than what she was telling people she could spend on other things and then our Premier done something similar and they showed some of these places and they have inside gardens and fountains and paintings hanging up and it is ridiculous how much money they will spend on that but a lot of the time won’t spend it on doing things they promised. It is hard to believe most of their promises ‘cause they rarely keep them and the thing that annoys me the most is when they say they are going to do all these things 5 to 10 to even 20 years from now and the Treasurer does it every time we have the budget and there is a good chance the parties won’t even be in by then and they should stick to talking about the years they are in government.
Yeah. The Firefighters lighting their own fires does sound like something that has come from a movie and I remember seeing ‘Backdraft’ years ago and did you know they made a sequel for it ‘cause I was not expecting one to come out so long after the first one. Sadly what they do is real though and they even get family and friends to help them do it and one Firefighter was caught out here ‘cause he was getting his Brother light the fires for him and then he would report them and go out to put them out and take all the credit for putting them out and another Firefighter saw his Brother and figured out it was the two of them doing it together. I can only imagine how the other Firefighters must feel when they find out the truth about these people since some worked with them for years and didn’t pick up on it and it would be a stab in the back for them. It makes you wonder how they do it when they put lives at risk too ‘cause their jobs are to save lives but then I heard Ted Bundy spent years working at a Suicide Helpline and stopped people from killing themselves only to take lives himself.
Yeah, I have feeling the excuses would maybe be more "easy" for certain political sides, to get through their cases, now more than ever, as an way of manipulating for votes now during a pandemic, and I fear many will not realize or see what is going on right in front of them, and just takes it for granted, that trust the politicans, and every thing will be "fine". As kid I loved Backdraft, and somehow, I forgot a sequel were made. Not sure if I will pick it up, but noticed William Baldwin and I believe Donald Sutherland has some roles in it as well. For a short period, it looked like William would go onto become a promising you star in the 90s, but I guess that did not work out. Not that he has had a "terrible" career, as he has most likely been in a ton of movies since, but I really enjoyed his work with Flatliners and Backdraft, then I guess things kind of dried out a bit. The stuff about Ted Bundy, I did not know of. Sounds very disturbing. Thank you for answering my questions about Christmas and hopefully we can go Christmas shopping this year ‘cause it is just not the same buying everything online and do you have any Christmas shops ‘cause we have a really big one here we love to go to every year and it has so many Christmas things you can’t get anywhere else and a massive amount of decorations. They even have a lot of Christmas Activity books we usually get for my Nieces and Nephew and give them as presents when they break up from School for the Christmas holidays and did you have those growing up ‘cause we did here but they aren’t as big as they are now and now some of them even have links to websites where there is additional activities for kids to print off and do. Decorating is fun and it is even more fun when there are children around and since they were old enough to do it my Nieces have come over every year to help Beccy and I decorate our Christmas Tree and we have heaps of Christmas ornaments for it and I made some of them myself and sell Christmas ornaments and decorations I make to family, friends and people I work with too.
My Uncle helps Beccy hang the Christmas lights up out the front of our house and did I tell you Beccy doesn’t allow me to climb up on the roof anymore ‘cause I accidentally fell off the roof one year () and I am lucky to be alive and didn’t seriously injure myself. I like to cook a lot of things for Christmas too and I always make Christmas Crackles, Chocolate Crackles and White Christmas and do you have Christmas puddings in Norway ‘cause I hate Christmas puddings () but I heard they don’t have it in America and was pretty surprised over that ‘cause a lot of people like it here and I always thought it was something people had around the world. Christmas Puddings might be similar to your Christmas Cakes and do they have dried fruit in them? What happened with some of your Christmas foods was the same thing that happened here too and you can Gingerbread Man in some bakeries all year and Anzac Biscuits that used to only be available to get on Anzac Day you can buy all year and it is funny how that happened and I heard you can buy Crème Eggs all year long in the UK.
I guess christmas shopping is usually something I just like to "be done with", as sadly when you grow older, the more romantic feel of nostalgia from my childhood, is blown away by awful loud and overplayed Christmas music, stressed out and angry customers, and yeah, I would like to visit stores and towns, with a more downbeat and calm mood during Christmas period and going out shopping, or just browsing through the windows. But for many, Christmas shopping is like a "nightmare" at times. However, I often have this little fantasy, of just heading out to one of the smaller villages, and have look, see if any thing might be different in how people behave and act to each others. I do remember we had something called Christmas shop, during school days, where we would learn and get the possibilty to make gifts, and I think I actually have a few of them, lying somewhere, collecting dust. Falling off the roof? Now that sounds serious, and I am glad you did not get seriously hurt, as I remember hearing some horror stories from my dad, about people felling off the roofs, when he was a kid, and that was usually due to Christmas and maybe, a bit too many drinks, not implying that you had a few too many. Christmas pudding, I actually do not believe we ever had that, or that it is something us norwegian has a taste for during Christmas time. However, Christmas cake, is probably not much in comming, either taste or look, to Christmas pudding: As seen on the image above, there is raisins inside the cake, or I guess it should be more fitting to call it Christmas bread, as that is surely more how it taste, only sweet and very good, with butter or brown cheese/goat cheese to it. Hm, favorite Christmas chocolate? That is actually quite a hard question, as I guess the closest would be Norwegian marzipan, covered in chocolate. Of course, the best ones, I believe is the danish ones, called Anthon Berg candy and chocolate, and surely some of the german or swizz chocolate, that easily beats out any of the norwegian stuff, or least what they usually sell in the stores. I think the best Christmas chocolate marzipan, is the one that has a bit more fill to it, and is not too dry in taste. Sadly, that latter part, is what often happens with the norwegian candy, it taste too dry and anything but how you kind of hope for. Santa's Slay I enjoyed, and own it on DVD. I kind of hoped it would maybe get a follow up, one day, but I guess the chances for that happening, is not very big. But surely among the more enjoyable and re-watchable of the Christmas films made in the 00s and beyond. Yeah, what goes down as a Christmas movie, is kind of more up to each and own, I think. Many do not rate the first Die Hard films as Christmas films, but for me, I love to watch that kind of action movies, with lots of snow and Christmas themed stuff put in, and director Renny Harlin made quite a action filled "snowy" trilogy back in the 90s, with Die Hard 2 (1990), Cliffhanger (1993) and my favorite that were The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996). Then one have Lethal Weapon (1987), The Last Boy Scout (1991) and probably many others, I have forgotten about, right now, but that also fits well into that holiday time. When it comes to Christmas horror films, I have sadly not seen many, that I think of a great or very good either, but Black Christmas (1974), the first two Silent Night, Deadly Night films and maybe my favorite, which I do not really think of as a pure horror movie, even though it often is brought along, as a "slasher" release, and that is Christmas Evil (1980). That one, I think is very underrated, in that it was, and still is very badly promoted, and feels more like a psychological drama-thriller, with some horror elements, here and there. For me, the real reason to why I like it so much, is the story of a grown up man, who witnessed something bad as kid, during Christmas, and has since then, been completely obssessed about anything related to Christmas and Santa Clause, so much, that he ends up dressing as Santa, and writes down his own lists of who has been good or naughty, and yeah, it might move a bit slow in pace, but the atmosphere and the acting, I think is very well done. I like the message behind it, that for many, Christmas is a rather sad and lonely time, and not just about using as much money on "garbage" as possible, or get drunk and mean, but to really try and better one self, care for your loved ones and fellow man, not just one day a year, but maybe a bit of that, every day. Sadly, the film suffered badly, due to many walking in, thinking it would be a sleazy b-movie horror film, which it really is not. And I guess it is just one of those, that have stayed with me, in a way few other Christmas films has done, and yeah, I really recommend it, at least if you are interested in a bit of a "different" movie, than the more typical glittering and shiny Hollywood releases. In Norway, we had a very popular Christmas calender tv-show, called The Julekalender, which was a remake of the original danish show, but back when it was aired (it got so huge and popular, that it was aired twice, in three years) in 1994, the whole show was like a cultural phenomenen, everybody saw it, knew the one-liners and where the music had a very important part, to why it succeeded so much. I have the CD and entire show on DVD, but have not seen it, since Christmas of 2003. Somehow, certain songs of course, sticks out a bit more, or movie soundtracks, like the ones by John Williams and his great and very charming and beautiful music. Even some Christmas commercials, stands out more as you get older. I think my all time favorite Christmas commercial is the one, that so well uses the classic Chris Rea song, Driving Home for Christmas, and it was released with the norwegian candy giant, Nidar and their Christmas marzipan pig, back in the end of 2001. It really made me all nostalgic, in a great way, as it kind of felt like travelling back in time, and how we would celebrate Christmas, and how would look outdoor, when we drove to family members with gifts and, yeah, I could almost smell the food and the atmosphere, through the television set. We still haven't seen 'Batman: The Long Halloween Part One' yet 'cause they didn't add it to Foxtel's New Releases section this week like I thought they would and we are going to wait and see if they add it next week but if they don't we will get it on DVD so we will have it to go with all the other Batman animated movies we own and what did you think of 'Batman: Soul of the Dragon' 'cause that was pretty different than the other Batman movies and he spent more time in it as Bruce Wayne than Batman and had Richard Dragon and Lady Shiva with him and I liked that one and was happy to finally see Lady Shiva get more screen time and I think out of all the female villains in DC that haven't been used in the Live Action movies and TV Shows Lady Shiva deserves a chance to be in one the most. You're welcome for the 'Oddball' recommendation and I hope you enjoy it if you decide to get it and yeah, Shane Jacobson is pretty famous here and has been in a lot of movies and TV Shows. Anyways, I'll end it here before it gets any bigger and I hope you have a great weekend and look forward to hearing from you again.
I still have not gotten around to see Soul of Dragon, but I might do so very soon, as I picked it up a while ago, along with a bunch of others films as well. However, I am very tempted to return to the first two Batman films of Tim Burton, as I guess you might have seen through your fine post and images of the first Batman movie, in the Post an image from the last film you saw, thread in Film General. Well, I guess that will be it for now, until next time. Hope things will ease up and become better in Australia, and that you will have a nice weekend. By the way, I know I said earlier on, that I was planning on re-listening to a few of the Oasis and Blur albums I own. I still have not gotten to Oasis, yet, but have been through a few more of the Blur Cds I got, and where my favorite, surely is their 1994 release, Parklife. I love how varied in sounds and genres that record really is. Also noticed how much influence XTC had on some of their songs, but my favorite cut, turned out to be quite pleasant surprise, as I had no idea how much alike Damon Albarn sounded to John Foxx from the early Ultravox days, love that icy and futuristic synth-rock beat, which Ultravox did so great back in the mid to late 70s, but sadly never got their break through, as I guess it collided with the whole punk rock and disco era, and the one who I guess, most realized the potential John Foxx and Ultravox was doing back then, was a youn Gary Numan, who together with Tubeway Army, would reach the top of the charts, several times over, with their own hits, but with a sound, heavily influenced by the Ultravox 1976-1978 era. Anyway, this is the Blur cut I was telling about, and it just might be one of the best songs I have heard of them, so very different than their other ones, and probably why I fell for it. Hi Stefancrosscoe
That’s okay. I know what it is like to fall behind with things especially when you have a lot to reply to but not enough time to get back to everybody but thank you for explaining that to me and sadly I am not feeling well today and have got the flu again and feel terrible and I probably shouldn’t have told you how warm it was here last week ‘cause the cold weather must have heard me and decided it was not cold enough () but I think I will be back to normal in a few days. More things have changed since I wrote to you last time and our town is now part of the Lockdown and we have to follow all the same rules as the Greater Sydney region and Blue Mountains has to and aren’t allowed to have any guests over or go out anywhere unless it is for essential reasons and I was pretty disappointed ‘cause Beccy and I didn’t get to watch ‘WWE Money In Bank’ with my family on Monday night like we normally do with all the WWE pay per views and it is not as fun watching it without them especially my Nieces and Nephew.
From what our Premier has said the Lockdown for us is expected to last until the 30th of July and I am really hoping it is over by then and it doesn’t get extended ‘cause my Niece’s (Courtney) is coming up next month and we always spend Courtney’s birthday with her and haven’t missed a single one since she was born or her older Sister or Brother for that matter and don’t want to start that now but with the cases now somewhere around 1200 and five deaths I don’t know when it will be over or they will ease restrictions back so we can have people over. Some other sad news is one of my friends has got the Coronavirus and she is self-isolating now and I have talked to her on the phone and she hasn’t gotten any of the serious symptoms that you can get and was surprised she had it but it is sad she did and has to self-isolate and do they make people self-isolate for 2 weeks in Norway when they test positive to the Coronavirus or go into self-isolation when they go to other states ‘cause here people have had to do that but at the moment nobody is going anywhere with the Lockdown.
What is going on now in those cities in Norway is very similar to what happened here and there were too many people that were not following the rules ‘cause they thought it was over and we were safe again and that heavily contributed to this cluster growing and our state having more than 1200 cases and we have to remember how easily these clusters spread when things go back to normal or we are going to be doomed to repeat the past once again. I imagine it must feel strange for you going to the gym and being almost completely alone there and our Premier closed more places that weren’t seen as essential the other day and some of the ones I have heard are still open might as well been closed ‘cause they are getting very few if any customers going to them ‘cause too many people are afraid of catching the Coronavirus. Yeah. There are a lot of Politicians in our country trying to use this to their advantage along with the anger many people over Lockdowns here in New South Wales and Victoria and I think when it comes to the election people need to remember the fires and the floods and who helped the most and kept their words ‘cause from the start of the pandemic last year which was not long after the bushfires were put out our government used it as an excuse not to keep the promises they made to people who were affected.
The thing about trusting Politicians is a lot of them in the same parties find it hard to even trust each other lately and we had another ‘Leadership Spill’ this year which saw former Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce return to the role again after being booted a few years back when he was exposed for having an affair with a staffer during work hours and getting her pregnant and I felt very sorry for his family when that came out ‘cause I can’t imagine how it must have been for them to find that out on the news like the rest of us and I don’t think Barnaby Joyce should be allowed back and not ‘cause he cheated on his Wife but ‘cause he was supposed to be the Deputy Prime Minister of our country and instead of doing his job he thought having sex with one of his staffers was more important but there is a lot of division in both major parties over the pandemic with many fighting with each other and it is the last thing people want to see during a time like this and there needs to be more stability and is it the same with your Politicians in Norway constantly fighting with each other?
I am sorry to hear the snow has been poor for you and not growing up with snow myself I can’t really say I can relate to that () but I have seen snow in movies and TV Shows and in photos and it looks like it would be fun to make a Snowman, have snow fights and lie on the ground and do snow angels and did you ever build a snowman and are they easy to make? That is interesting you call hailstorms ‘haggel’ in Norway and I think one of the reasons we get big hailstorms is ‘cause we don’t have snow so we get those instead and no, they are definitely not ‘enjoyable’ balls that fall from the sky() and they can literally kill you or cause brain damage if they hit you in the head and it is very noisy when it hails and Occy and Sally (our Malshis) hate it and will bark and cry over it until it’s over and it doesn’t take long for our front and backyards to be covered in hail and usually it melts quickly like your snow but occasionally when it is a cold day it will stay and as kids we used to collect it in buckets and play with it.
Yeah. I remember when it looked like William Baldwin was going to become a big Hollywood star but I think after a few leading roles in movies that were not very successful they decided he wasn’t really lead star material for big Hollywood movies and I think one of the other problems was he started out at a time when there were many other talented Actors arriving on the scene that went onto be mega stars and he couldn’t keep up with him just like Alicia Silverstone with Reese Witherspoon and Drew Barrymore who went onto outshine her and land big roles in Romantic Comedies towards the end of the 90s and the early 00s and if I remember correctly there were four Baldwin Brothers and Alec was the one I saw the most and I saw Daniel Baldwin in a number of movies in the 90s but he was mostly just playing supporting characters and not leading roles. It is funny you mentioned ‘Flatliners’ ‘cause we were just watching that on Foxtel recently for the first time in years and there was another Actor in that whose career was kinda dwindling towards the end of the 90s but then he got the role of Jack Bauer in ‘24’ and Jack Bauer was such a popular character in some ways it overshadowed his movie career and not that he wasn’t good in movies too but he become Jack Bauer to many fans ‘cause of the popularity of the show and few shows I have found as addictive as ‘24’ and you had to see the next episode ‘cause it was always continued.
Ted Bundy working at a Suicide Prevention Hotline was surprising but I think he thought if he worked there less people would suspect he was a killer like Rolf Harris who some might remember done a lot of ads against pedophiles and turned out to be one himself and it makes you wonder how they could still do all the things they done knowing how wrong it was. I can understand why you might feel that way about Christmas but I actually enjoy Christmases more now I am older and I think my Nieces and Nephew are one of the big reasons for that ‘cause I love celebrating Christmas with them and seeing the joy it brings to their faces and my Sister and I did not really have that joy with our parents but we did with our Grandfather and have so many fond Christmas memories of him and he used to play the Beach Boys Christmas album when we were at his house ‘cause that was his favourite and I still love listening to that too along with the Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’ Christmas album and I always try to make Christmas as special as he did for me when they come over our house.
Christmas shopping can be a nightmare in December and our shops are usually packed with so many people it is hard to even look around at things on the shelves and will get people lining up outside of the shops to get served and do you still have people serve you in shops like Big W in Norway ‘cause a lot of shops like that here still have at least one person serving people but most of the aisles are self-serve and I think the serve yourself checkouts weren’t a great addition or made shopping any easier for people and they were invented so the shops didn’t have to pay many workers. Falling off the roof was scary and Beccy hasn’t let me go back up on the roof since it happened and it was very lucky I didn’t seriously injure myself or worse ‘cause I have heard about people dying falling off roofs but I think the way I landed saved me and I was on crutches for a while after it. No. I wasn’t drinking that day () and I haven’t actually drank alcohol for close to 20 years and creaming soda is all it takes to make me a little tipsy () but I remember slipping and losing my balance and trying really hard to stop myself from falling but couldn’t and one of my neighbours saw me and jumped over our fence.
Looking at that picture you posted that is very different than Christmas pudding and looks more like bread and our Christmas puddings look like this (as seen in the photos below) and some people love them but I have always thought they tasted horrible. () Thank you for answering my question and I don’t think I have ever had chocolate marzipan before but looking it up we have marzipan in some of our supermarkets and Aldi has a chocolate block of it and we might try that the next time Beccy goes there and I have been eating one of the Hershey Mix bags we got from there for American Week recently. I thought you might have seen 'Santa's Slay' () and it is a fun Christmas movie but one I definitely wouldn't watch with my Nieces and Nephew or they would have nightmares about Santa Claus and sadly I don't think we will get a sequel to it or it would have happened by now but Goldberg is actually back in WWE now and is going to wrestle Bobby Lashley at 'WWE Summer Slam' next month which is the second biggest wrestling pay per view of the year and I wasn't expecting him to make a comeback in wrestling when he returned a few years ago to defeat Brock Lesnar who was one of the most dominant wrestlers at the time in less than a minute but he is in good shape for somebody who is 54 and a lot of my family and friends who watched WCW are happy he is back and are watching WWE again just to see him.
I liked 'Black Christmas' and 'Christmas Evil' and I agree with you about the latter being underrated and I think it has a good message too but like you said it gets lost on many people especially those who look down on Horror movies in general and I was going to ask you if you had seen the 'Silent Night, Deadly' night movies 'cause that is a very strange Christmas Horror movie franchise and it started with a psychopath dressed up as Santa Claus killing people as you know but then by 'Silent Night, Deadly Night' 4 or 5 it had turned into something completely different about some demonic cult impregnating women with their demon spawn and I honestly have no idea how the franchise got there but if you have watched a lot of Horror movies like I have you will notice some sequels drift off into something completely different than what the franchise started out about and I think they are a cash in on the movie's name 'cause they know more people are going to see them if they use the name of an already established Horror franchise. They done it with some of the 'Hellraiser' movies after 4 and I heard 'Inferno' was originally written as a different movie but they added some things to it to make it into a 'Hellraiser' movie and did you know that was the same with the 'Catwoman' movie with Halle Berry and the script they used was for a different movie and they made some changes to make it a 'Catwoman' movie and it wasn't surprising it flopped.
Thank you for sharing those videos with me and I saw your replies to my posts on the Film General section and I will reply to them when I am on next time but I am going to be going off a bit earlier tonight 'cause I am sick and lie down on the lounge for a while but I wanted to reply to this first and 'Batman (1989) is a very enjoyable movie and I still think Jack Nicholson was the best live action version of the Joker and the closest one we have had to the Joker in the comic books whereas Heath Ledgers' version was a darker and more serious version and it is surprising they killed the Joker off at the end of 'Batman (1989) but then they turned around and done the same to the Penguin in 'Batman Returns' and they kill off a lot of villains in superhero movies that stay alive in the comic books and keep getting out of prison and causing more havoc and the 'Spider-Man' movies did it too and I think it is better to keep them alive so you can bring them back later but I am very curious how some of the villains in the 'Spider-Man' movies with Tobey Maguire and Kristen Dunst are coming back with the same Actors for the new Spider-Man movies and did you hear the new Spider-Man movie is rumoured to have Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in it along with Kirsten Dunst and other characters from the previous movies? It is going to be fun seeing them return as Spider-Man if the rumours are true along with Michael Keaton as Batman. They updated the Foxtel New Movies section yesterday and didn't put the 'Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1' animated movie on it so it looks like we are going to have to get it from Amazon or JBHIFI now. Anyways, thanks and I hope you had a nice weekend too and look forward to catching up with you again.

on the home front and here as well ( but no big worries of course just the daily life thing ) . I'm really glad you enjoyed " my in the moment selections " here too . Thanks so much for your most impressive selections here also
more awesome yet smooth music to stir up and move the soul as I hear it . I hope everything is going well with you and Becca also . Take care and we will chat again here soon . Hi mszanadu
Thank you for the kind words and you're welcome. Things sadly haven't been going well here lately and we are currently in Lockdown due to a new Cluster that have seen over 1200 test positive to the Coronavirus including one of my friends who is self isolating now and I have got the flu and am feeling pretty awful today and am going to go and lie down and get some rest soon so I can have dinner later tonight and wish I had brighter news to share with you but we are soldiering on here and am hoping this Lockdown ends at the end of the month 'cause one of my Nieces' (Courtney) birthday is coming up next month and I really want to spend it with her and we have been getting her presents online. Listening to music is always a good way to change the mood and makes me happy and I think a lot of us can use it to get us through dark times.
Paul McCartney & Wings - Band On the Run (From the Album, 'Band On the Run')
Paul McCartney - Take It Away (From the Album, 'Tug of War')

Hi Stefancrosscoe That’s okay.
Sorry about you having going through the flu once more, but I hope you will get okay again, within a short while. Also sad about the whole lockdown situation, but I guess this will most likely be far more normal through out, most of the world as people are still on their summer vacation, and when everybody returns back to their home countries, it might sadly be a very dramatic increase in moving further to another full blown lockdown. Righ now, I have just came back from my first (been a few weeks since the last time) visit to one of the regular second hand stores, I use to pick up movies, music and books, and surprisingly, even with such few people inside the store (usually, there have been large crowds of cutsomers, having to wait outside in line, as the shop could only have about 20-30 people inside at once, due to Corona rules) there were still people wearing masks and being quite anxious whenever they came in "contanct" with other people inside the shop. Anyway, I am glad I almost had the store for my self. Picked up a lot of music and movies, almost for free, and right now I am listening to an Urge Overkill album, think it is called Exit the Dragon (1995), and has some really good tunes on it, but feel that it might need a few more listens, before it kind of settles in with my ears. I am kind of surprised, that so many norwegians are not only considering, but are travelling far and east, to visit Sweden, due to the food prices over there, is far more cheap and reasonable, than here in Norway, but the price for that, could be quite hefty, as you could end up with having to into self isolate, for several weeks, and alos have to pay quite a large bill, and then the cost of food and drinks that are more lighter in prices, might all of a sudden be very expensive. And still, many people are doing this. I am just glad I actually got to visit Sweden back in December 2019, not many weeks until the whole country closed down.
While I am probably not the most updated on politics, I have noticed that things have kind of eased down a bit, between some of the bigger and most prominent politicians and their parties, but it might have something to do with the fact that as of right now, it is the 22nd of July, and exactly 10 years ago, a national disaster took so many innocent lives, both young and grown up people, who got caught up in the horrible events, when a terrorist caused total chaos and mayhem due to his crazy beliefs, but sadly, even so long after that tragic happening, things have kind of still not gotten much better, lots of hatred, specially from people hiding behind their computers, or in social media, and a lot of the victims who survived, are still getting hateful threats, and the way media and politicians dealt with the situation, sadly was kind of "naive", at least when looking at how things have evolved over the last decade. Hopefully, something good will come out of it, and there is also a election this fall, and I think we are in need of a change now, but if it will suddenly turn for the better, that is not easy to tell.
Sadly, I think very few modern Christmas themed movies, really managed to make the snow look "natural", but I guess with the use of CGI effects, that is part of the problem. It looks far too fake, like something straight out of a video game, hell, even video games have often more natural looking snow falling down from the sky. I love it, when you have real snow, not fake, and you can hear the sounds of people stepping on it, and the impact it causes, that is something the fake snow, never can replace. Yeah, sure I made a few snowmen over the years, but I guess my interest lay more in trying to build snowcaves or snowcastles, where my friends and I, could have snowball fights, and that was quite a blast. But making a really big snowman, that is not easy, and you have to be able of getting a hold of lots of snow, and of course some help from friends, at least if one has a goal of attempting to create a very large looking snowman, not a tiny one. But, a snowman is still a snowman, no matter the size. I guess the hailstorms, are natures cruel way of handing out the "balance", as in places with little rain or snow, but lots of heat and dry air, when it finally rains, it really poor downs, for days or weeks, as sadly witnessed right now, several places through the globe. Where as other places, there is fire and heat problems, and somehow, I kind of feel bad for complaining about hot and steamy weather, as that is surely nothing, compared to the tragedies happening all over. But looking at how the flood situation in Germany and Belgium have taken on, these last weeks, it is not impossible it could come much closer, and that is a very scary thought, because I have no belief in that the larger cities are up to date, in keeping up, if the tragedy might one day happen. Kiefer Sutherland had quite an impressive CV going for him, through the late 80s and into the 90s, but I guess he kind of got either typecasted (often as the bullying macho cowboy act, or the cowardly high school bully) but also he did seem to try and break free out of those kind of parts, specially when he got roles in Twin Peaks the Movie, The Vanishing, Dark City and probably many others, I just cannot remember right now. Sadly, few of these films, turned into box office hits, and I guess that sadly has often a lot to say, about your "worth" as a leading man in Hollywood, not the quality you put in, but how much money the film can make, even if they stink up, big time. Somehow, 24 was huge in Norway, specially back in 2002, but I just never got around to watch it. Might have seen a few episodes, here and there, but back then, I guess music and movies took up too much time, along with other things. Where as the few tv-shows I caught up with, were usually the older sitcoms of the 80 and 90s, along with the much later seasons of NYPD Blue and Ally McBeal, Buffy, Angel and also Dark Angel. Sadly, the latter, only lasted for 2 whole seasons, but having re-watched it, not long ago, I really enjoyed it, and felt it was one of those which should have gotten another shot for a third a final season. Yeah, I fully understand that getting to share the joy with your beloved ones, specially the younger ones, that is something rewarding and will most likely give them the kind of happy and joyful memories and feelings of Christmas time, which they can continue on, deliver, when they get older. I guess the above image from Jingle All The Way (1996), is sadly not that far off, how a lot of "grown ups" actually behave during certain times of the year, specially know that we have all these Black Friday, Black Monday and Black Week sales, going all the year, and I have seen some absolute ridiculous yet shocking clips and images, where the scene from Arnold trying to jump through a bunch of customers, is becoming more and more natural, for a lot of people. I am not much of a alcohol drinker myself either, but I do enjoy swedish grape or pear cider, which has 4,7 volume of alcohol in them, so sometimes I forget that they contains any alcohol, and have been drinking 2 in a row, and that is all it takes for me, to feel a bit "weird". I never understood those, who need to drink, only to get drunk, as fast a possible, and sadly, I have known quite a few mean drunks, and of course, they never "remembers" anything from the other night, were as all the other, sure have not forgotten one thing. Somehow, I never really "learned" to drink beer or wine, but pear, grape or apple cider, that is really good, not too sweet, but is best enjoyed during summer, I think, and of course make sure it is ice cold. Oh yeah, the self serving stations, have often been a disaster zone, so much trouble, and yet, so many shops and malls, are tying to "improve" things, by installing them, every where. If you got a problem, then you are kind of screwed, as there are no people to find, and you are stuck with a computer, which do not communicate, if one can say it like that. Still, at certain times, it can be a luxurious way of getting out of a crowded line, if you only have a few items with you, but even then, things can go badly, and then one is suddenly right back in the line, far away in the end.
Those Christmas puddings, sure do look sweet, maybe a bit too sweet? I feel almost stuffed, only by watching them. That image of the chocolate covered marzipan bar, it sure reminds me of the Ritter Sport and their chocolate marzipan edition, which was my favorite when I was a kid. Sadly, they do not often sell those, at least in Norway. Usually you have the possibility to pick them up, while travelling by plane or boat, and visiting the Tax-Free shop. Anyways, thanks and I hope you had a nice weekend too and look forward to catching up with you again.
I actually have a box-set of the later Silent Night, Deadly Night chapters, yet somehow, the box art, tried to sell it off, as the first film, and it was exactly why I picked it up, so you could understand my disappointment, when I opened it, when I got home, and well, I later on got a hold of the first two films, but yeah, things sure do get weird, after a while. Kind of like how many other (as you mentioned, Hellraiser) popular or well known 80s horror franchises shied away from the original source, but somehow managed to continune on, for years and years. The Howling franchise is probably one of those, where you had a great first film, which was followed up, by well, maybe not so "great" sequels, yet I always enjoyed the second and third films, where the latter takes place in Australia, and is by the same director, who did part 2 as well. They are not very scary, if one can describe them as that, more goofy, cheesy and very campy. One has to go in, and do not expect much of the same style and tone of the first film but if one enjoys b-movies, then one could be in for a pleasant surprise, which I guess is why I chose my username/avatar, as Christopher Lee was such a class act, to behold, up against all these crazy and ridiculous figures in Howling 2, and yeah, I think he actually apologized towards director Joe Dante, who made the first Howling movie, when they teamed up in Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990). However, in my book, he has absolutely nothing to be sorry about, he is one of the big reasons why so many love the film, as he is the exact opposite to b-movie hammy actionstar, Reb Brown, of the seductive and sultry scream queen Sybil Danning. And somehow, it all works out, at least in the entertainment value that is, or so I think. I need another visit with the Spider-Man movies by Sam Raimi, as I remember not seeing them, for many, many years now. Always enjoyed the first two, not sure how much I actually remembered of the third and final of the triligy, but yeah, I sure prefered those, rather than some of the later ones, which were not bad, but kind of, well, not my kind of super hero movies. I fully understand that how things are right now, there is absolutely no need to feel that you have to reply or anything, take care and put your own health first, and I guess I just got a bit caught up, when I notice other people on here, posting about some of my favorite films, and yeah, as always, it has been fun to catch up with you, and hope that you are feeling much better when we meet up again.

Hey there stefancrosscoe !! You're most welcome and I'm really glad you enjoyed
" my in the moment selections " here too . I'm back on the forum when I can get a spare moment here
but hope to be back more often when I'm done
with my spring / summer clean up home projects also . Here also ( and in case I have not sent this to you before ? ) are a couple of my favorite all time albums by Howard Jones ( or called HoJo by fans like me here too ) . Thanks so much also for some of your wonderful recommendations here as well . Take care my friend and chat with you here again soon . I understand, I have been a bit busy lately myself, specially with my own home projects, like cleaning up the house, which I should surely do far more often, as with all the sunny weather, things are more easy to spot, rather than on rainy or grey days. Still, it is quite motivating, when you see the difference, and also smell it as well. However, with the right kind of music in the background, the cleaning up part, goes way faster, and more fun too. I am sorry about not having the time to reply more within details, as to your fine music links above, but I will surely try to get back to them, when I can. Anyway thanks for the information and always nice to see that your are around, as your warm replies, always puts a smile on my face, and that is something you and DebLovesBec, are surely very good at. Hope you will have yourself a good weekend, and we will see each other again, soon. Also, I noticed your later post in here, with the music from bands like Duran Duran and Animotion, the latter one, I actually (when I first played through GTA: Vice City) thought were a The Human League song, as it felt very much in the same style, and have still not gotten around to hear any of their other songs, or albums. Anyway, once more, thanks for the songs you put up, and again, I will try to give them a few listens, and later on write a little of what I thought of them.

And still, many people are doing this. I am just glad I actually got to visit Sweden back in December 2019, not many weeks until the whole country closed down.
Hi Stefancrosscoe
Thanks. I have returned now and I have still got the flu and was hoping it would be gone by now but I at least don’t have to worry about being well enough to go to work this week with the Lockdown and that is one of the only good things about it since everything else is pretty depressing and our Premier confirmed over the weekend she won’t be able to hang onto that 30th date now like she had planned ‘cause the numbers keep rising and were at 141 cases yesterday and we have now gone over 2000 in total since our latest cluster began. We have also had another 2 deaths in New South Wales and one of them was a woman in her 30s with no preexisting conditions and it is worrying hearing about how young some of these people are getting who have gotten very ill and died of the Delta strand and no age group is really safe anymore which is why need to be careful but some people don’t care like the Anti-Lockdown protesters who decided to storm the streets of Sydney on the weekend in numbers.
57 of them were arrested for violently assaulting Police and horses and there was one protester who got a friend to take a photo of him punching a horse in the face and then put it on his Facebook page to brag about it and while I am not a fan of the Lockdown either and will be annoyed if it lasts all the way to October like our Premier said it could I don’t think being violent is going to solve anything and they have most likely made this worse ‘cause if just one or two of them had the virus it will spread to more people and the Lockdown will go even longer than it should have. It will be said if your country has to go back into Lockdown again soon too but with how careless some people have been with the Social Distancing rules around the world I sadly wouldn’t be surprised if quite a few countries end up going back into Lockdown once again like us ‘cause they make going to public areas into what we call ‘Super-Spreader’ events here and are very selfish when it comes down to it. Did you hear Our Country and New Zealand officially pulled out of the Rugby League World Cup? You were saying how dangerous thought the crowds were at some of the Football games in the UK a few weeks ago and it looks like our officials agree with you ‘cause they pulled out due to the Coronavirus concerns and I think that is for the best ‘cause the last thing we want is for our Football players to go over there and have one or two of them come back with the Coronavirus especially after we got this Delta strand from returning overseas travelers. We still have a big shortage of the Pfizer vaccine here and our Prime Minister announced he secured 85 Pfizer Booster shots but that isn’t going to help us much since the we are not going to get it until 2022 and 2023 and it is the Prime Minister’s fault for not getting more of it earlier and he had the chance and knocked it back. I am not sure if we will be able to get two jabs this year when we can get it or we have to wait until next year.
I am glad you got to go to a second hand store the other day and enjoyed yourself and we still have a few of those around here – well, we did before this Lockdown and might have less when it’s over but some other places I like to go to get old books, albums and movies are the Markets and Fairs and are there any of those near where you live ‘cause before the Coronavirus we had some of them regularly and others we would have every few months and you would be surprised how many old albums they had at some of the Fairs in our state especially up near the Coast still wrapped in plastic and I got Eps and singles with rare tracks you can’t buy anymore from going to them. I usually go to Fairs and Arts and Crafts festivals with my Aunt and Cousin and there is a big Arts and Crafts Festival we have once a year but sadly for the past two years it has been cancelled due to the pandemic and hopefully it is not cancelled altogether ‘cause they have had to stop having it but my Aunt thinks it will be back.
Wow. I didn’t know the food prices were so much cheaper in Sweden compared to Norway you have people travelling to Sweden to buy food and have your food prices always been that high or was that something that changed in the last few decades ‘cause the price of food has gone up quite a bit here in the last two decades and there is never any explanation for it or for why things are getting smaller and smaller all the time and we are just paying more for less. That is good you got to go to Sweden in December 2019 before the pandemic and that must feel like a very different time to you now ‘cause it feels like this pandemic has been going on forever and I miss the days before the pandemic too but I know how lucky we have been compared to other people. I am sorry to hear Norway had a national disaster a decade ago that took away a lot of innocent people’s lives due to the actions of a terrorist with crazy beliefs and it is sad how people like that can brainwash other people into following them and they will be loyal to them and not question a single thing even long after they are gone and they prey on the weak and disillusioned by using their fears against them along with their anger.
I have heard a lot of movie and TV Shows use special artificial snow instead of filming scenes when it is really snowing ‘cause it is easier and not having seen snow up close it isn’t easy for me to tell if it is real or fake ‘cause some scenes where I thought it was really snowing turned out to be artificial and I think most of it would be CGI now but I saw some behind the scenes features for older TV Shows and they had fans and machines that blew the artificial snow and rain down on the Actors and I think the funniest thing in some Christmas movies is how when the characters sing a Christmas song it doesn’t matter where they are the music will suddenly play with them too and you are left wondering where the music is coming from. Thank you for answering my question about Snowman and Snow Fights and building snow castles sound like fun and is it easy to build things with snow or do snow creations fall apart or melt easy if you bump them? I imagine making big Snowman would be harder to do but if you can make small ones you can at least make them which should still count.
They have been showing the floods in Germany and Belgium on the news here too along with the big wildfires near California too and both look horrible and I feel sorry for all the victims and hope unlike our Federal and State Governments their Governments do more to help them and at least keep their promises ‘cause a lot of people here who were victims of the bushfires especially were forgotten and our Federal Government were assholes and they chose to play Politics with it and delayed support to areas that voted for the opposition (Labor party) and then claimed it was the Council’s fault and they hadn’t completed all these documents and one of the Mayors who had kept everything too them to the cleaners with it since he completed everything and they sent it back to him with nothing and the Federal Government then had to keep their word but it was ridiculous he had to do that and when it comes to natural disasters it shouldn’t matter who voted for who and every area should get help.
Being a Reese Witherspoon fan one of Kiefer Sutherland's movie roles I am most familiar with was in 'Freeway' and he was a real nasty piece of work in that and I don't know if you have seen that movie but would suggest you check it out if you haven't 'cause it is one of my all time favs and Reese was fantastic in the role of Vanessa and she is very different than she is in most of her movies. Another Kiefer Sutherland movie I saw where he was the main star was 'Desert Saints' and that still gets played every now and then on Foxtel and I thought he was pretty good in it and was surprised to find out it was produced by Meg Ryan. Jack Bauer was the role that transformed him into an Action hero much like 'Taken' with Liam Neeson and it was insanely popular here too especially during its first few seasons and every season was like one long 24 hour movie since every episode was in real time and took place over 24 hours. The format was very different at the time and changed the way a lot of other shows done things that came after it but I think it suffered sometimes from not being able to use flashbacks and having to stick to one day 'cause you would go from one season to the next which was months or years later and there was so much that happened between the seasons that was never explained.
If you ever get around to watching the show one thing you will notice is Jack Bauer always beats the bad guys () and it doesn't matter how the odds are stacked against and how many terrorists there are Jack never gives up and always takes them down at the end. He even takes down a corrupt President in one season that had all these people out to kill him and had the former President (David Palmer) and two of the other agents assassinated. After it ended it came back for another season a few years later called '24: Live Another Day' which had Aussie Actress, Yvonne Strahovski in it). I loved Ally McBeal, Buffy, Angel and Dark Angel and there were quite a few TV Shows on around that time that are still my favourites now and another one of them was ‘Alias’ which was kinda similar to 24 and I have lost count how many times we have re-watched that on DVD but Jennifer Garner was amazing as Sydney Bristow. I was surprised and disappointed when ‘Dark Angel’ got cancelled ‘cause I thought that would have lasted for at least 5 seasons ‘cause it was a good show and even though the second season wasn’t as good as the first a lot of fans still liked it and a third season could have been better.
I also thought there might have been a chance for ‘Dark Angel’ to come back one day ‘cause Jessica Alba loved the show and was vocal about wanting to reprise her role but I think too many years have passed now and if we see it again it will be a reboot with new actors like the CW Network have done with the new series of ‘Charmed’ but I come across article about ‘Dark Angel’ getting cancelled a few years back and it wasn’t the ratings that got it cancelled and had to do with James Cameron and a lot of people at the network thought he was difficult to work with and was too demanding. You have a good point with that GIF file from 'Jingle All the Way' and I liked that movie and think it is one of Arnold's best roles in a Comedy movie and did you know there was a sequel to it with Larry the Cable Guy? It is strange how they bring out sequels to movies like that so many years later with different actors and no connection to the original movie and there was also a sequel to 'Kindergarten Cop' with Dolph Lundgren which was the same type of thing. When I used to drink I would drink Vodka and I would get different flavour Vodkas from the Liquor Store and they had chocolate, strawberry, banana, caramel, pineapple, peppermint, Iced Coffee etc or I would have Diet Coke with Scotch and I never the taste of beer and wine either and I was hoping wine would taste like grape juice but it didn't taste like that to me and was pretty awful. See, I am coffee drinker and we have heaps of different coffees here like Mocha Kenya, Espresso, Indulgence, Ristretto, Dark Roast, French Style, Italian Style, Intense, Gold Intense, Hazelnut, Strong Cappuccino, Mocha, White Choc Mocha, Lattes and Caramel Lattes to name a few and do you like coffee?
Thank you for answering my questions again and I think the box set you have of the later 'Silent Night, Deadly Night' movies is probably the same one we got and it is a strange franchise and I wonder what the creator thought of what they done with the movies 'cause I know how Clive Barker felt about the later 'Hellraiser' movies and has asked people not to associate his name with that shit () and hopefully now he has got the rights back he will be able to fix it and he wrote his own sequels to the first three movies as graphic novels with Kirsty returning and I have read some of them and his novel, 'The Scarlet Gospels' and liked them a lot more than the movies made after 4. I agree with your thoughts about 'The Howling' franchise and I love the third movie and it is more of a Horror Comedy than the others but I think it is pretty enjoyable if you don't look at it as a sequel to the original movie and view it as its own thing. Yeah. The 'Spider-Man' movies by Sam Rami are worth re-watching and we re-watch all three of them and enjoy them even though 3 was not as good as the first two and I was disappointed we didn't get the fourth movie Sam Rami was working 'cause I read he had nearly finished the script but needed a little more time to make changes to it but Sony wouldn't give him more time and from what is known about it is 4 was going to have Black Cat and Vulture as the villains and Sam has said he originally planned to make 6 movies and wanted to make a 'Spider Woman' movie too and Bruce Campbell is said to have been his choice for Mysterio in what would have been the fifth movie. Anyways, it has been nice catching up with you again too and thanks and I look forward to your next reply and hope you have a great week.

George Harrison - Got My Mind Set On You That song has been driving me "crazy", all summer. As some evil people, have decided, (as with so many other 80s hits) to use them as frequently as possible, in all kind of god awful tv-commercials, and few have been showing up more often, than the "charming" Coop Extra videos: I still enjoy the George Harrison song, though. But not every other 5 minutes or so.

Sad to hear that things is not getting much better down in Australia at the moment. I think I just this morning, read something about Sydney being locked down, for another month or so. I fear this might happen soon, in several cities in Norway as well. Yesterdays news, considering the increase in covid cases and the fact that it is still summer vacation, and lots of people will be back soon, I think it will take a while until it the numbers get stable/balanced, but it is not looking too good for now here either. I think some smaller places, has gone back to having customers wear masks and keep a distance, and yeah, on top of that, there seems to be quite a problem with electrical bikes, some nasty injuries (specially including drunk people at night) but not many days ago, an older man died, after crashing his electrical bike to the ground. Also, the increase of these vehicles, (I believe there are somewhere between 20 and 40,000 of them around, or way more) and so many irresponsible and naive drivers, so it has gotten to the state, where ambulance personel, must drive slower than usual, when trying to reach people who are in bad need of help, in order to not crash into these el-cycle drivers, who seems to have no understanding of basic traffic rules in the big city. Also, the pavement, roads in Oslo, are surely anything but impressive, and somehow we like to think we are closing in on more typical bike-countries like Denmark when it comes to riding bikes, instead of driving cars in the cities, but the roads is nowehere good or safe enough, and the whole country is not "flat" like Denmark or Holland, we are a country full of ups and downs, mountains and fjords and so on, but the whole bicycle culture, that so many politicians wants to bring forward, and increase the cars, it is not gonna happen over night. Back in the day, I remember that my dad had lots of stories from the 80s, when the police in Norway were infamous for not exactly being to "easy" on the more violent and nasty protesters, where some tried to be violent against the horses, by throwing glass bottles or punching them, and my dad told me of a rather amusing story (most likely not that fun for the guy who were used as a human pillow), when a large police horse, all of a sudden, decided to sit on this protesting thug, until the police could put him in chains.
Looks like the Olympic Summer Games, is moving on as "usual", even if there have been lots of protest and not very supportive vibes coming out of Tokyo and its inhabitants, as of recent times. I have not seen much of the games, as they send the program mostly in the middle of the night, and I still am a bit "hung over" from almost a month of European Cup Football earlier this summer. Also, not long, until the Premier League and other European Football leagues are back in action, either. I am still wondering how long, it will last, playing in front of fully crowded stadiums, or if this will suddenly go back to where it was, for the last 10-12 months back. Sadly, the Corona situation, has most likely put an end to most of the local Markets and fairs, at least in Oslo. I did actually begin to visit them, far more frequently, back in 2018-19, but of course now, there is little chances of that taking place this summer-fall. But you never know. Some of these markets, have some crazy customers. I mean, the image of Arnie, trying to run through a bunch of other people, to get first inside the store. That is how some behave, when the doors open to these local Markets and fairs, and it is usual older men and women, not the younger ones. I always wonder what they believe might lie in store for them, gold, diamonds? I saw back in 2019, a man in his late 60s, almost running down a little girl, her mum shouted at him, and his continued on, like his life depended on it. I usually tend to avoid that kind of mass hysteria, it is just not worth it. I like to arrive, a bit later on, when things have cooled down a bit. It would be nice, if the local school Market would be back to date, as it usually is in the late of fall, into mid-late November month, so I will just have to wait and see. Usually I look for VHS tapes, comics, books and CDs. I did pick up a few classic Disney animated tv-shows, of the late 80 and early 90s, through my recent visits, and it seems like there is quite a lot of love, for these childhood favorites among people in my age group these days.
As long as I can remember, the term "Harry-handel" or "Harry-shopping" has been used towards those, who several times a year, travel over to Sweden and shops like crazy, but of course, not everything is cheaper or better in quality, to what we have in Norway. Still, smoke, alcohol, candy, meat, milk, bread and a whole bunch of other stuff, is usually way more cheap in prices than back home. Of course, candy, smoke and alcohol is not exactly what I would describe as "food", but it sure is one of those items, you can be sure, will 9 out of 10 times, be on the shopping list, to most of the norwegian customers. I did a bit of crazy overshopping, when it comes to candy, but I have realized, that I do not have the appetite for that kind of sweet stuff, any more. And when I do purchase it, I tend to go for more "quality" candy, like the earlier mentioned, danish chocolate/marzipan of Anthon Berg, or darker milk chocolate, that is up to 86 percent and with much less sugar included, than the normal chocolate bars. Yeah, it is scary, and just the other day, on the news, it was about a young man, who back in his teenage days, got hooked onto some rather scary right wing propaganda, and how easy it is for some people to get dragged into that negative path, specially those seeking out the lonely, insecure and angry ones, who wants to vent out their anger towards something or someone, and yeah, thankfully that young man, had a very wise and caring mother, who saw what was going on with her young teenager, and took action, before it got way out of control. About snow castles and snow men, I think back in the winter of 1993 or 94, we built a very large one, that lasted for almost 2 months, until it started melting and downing in size and shape. So, yeah, if the weather is right and stable, it can last for a long time. Of course, it can easily go the other way, as well. I remember we built a very neat looking attempt, at a combination of castle and cave, it looked awesome, or so we kids thought. Then just 2-3 days later, it was all over, as the weather got warmer, and the snow melted fast. But, for a while, it was like the best snow castle/house, we had ever made, and we felt so proud. Sometimes, the snow is very light in shape and how it feels when you touch it or walk on it, other times, it is like walking on cold butter or glue, it sticks to your shoes and clothes, and then you have the more heavier version, which you could almost feel, when it comes falling down from the sky, and lands on your face. But these days, I would gladly take any kind of snow, instead of none, at least during Christmas period that is.
Freeway I believe I have seen, might be years since I did, but it had a bit of the Little Red Riding Hood feel to it, if I am not mistaken. I think they even made a sequel/follow up, which I have not seen. Yeah, the 24 series, seemed to be one of the most successful and influential shows after the 9/11, and I guess they also made a few tv-movies out of that show as well. I like the fact that Kiefer Sutherland kind of went on well, with never quite breaking through as a leading man but instead found his home, as a character actor. And he seemed to have done well in the villainous part, but nice also to see he got on well, as the good guy too. Not many seems to be able of doing both, and is far too often typecasted, for most of their careers, which I guess is better than nothing, but for an actor, it must be nice to have more to show for, than just playing the same guy, every film.
I did not know of the Cameron stuff, but that he could be quite a handful, yeah, that is most likely very true. Sad, because it costed such a fun and entertaining show, a potential third season. Anyway, Alba went on to become quite a household name for herself, where as Michael Weatherly became an even bigger tv-star, with his part in NCIS, which I am not sure is still on, but damn, they have made quite a few seasons, must have reached almost 20 seasons now? I think it started around 2003, and it is one of those shows, that just always seems to go on at night. I tend to watch a few of the older ones, but the newer ones, not so much. I actually picked up the Kidergarten Cop 2, with Dolph Lundgren. It was not one, that I were too impressed by. I am a bit of a Lundgren fan, at least of his older films, of the late 80s and into the early 90s. But he has had quite a comeback, if one could say so, over the years, and seems to show up, in all kind of films, not just DTV/VOD releases, but huge budget movies, and I thought he were one of those who delivered the best roles, in the first The Expendables movie, and really enjoyed his scens with Jet Li. Sadly, the sequels kind of got a bit too uneven, and still fun, but the first one, I felt were easily the best of the franchise, not sure if they will go on and do any more. No, I do not drink coffee. I am not sure why, but I guess it has just ended up as one of those "grown up" things, I never got used to, even if everyone around me, specially in my family, drinks a lot of coffee, they have not managed to "convert" me into a coffee drinker, yet. While it has been a time since I re-watched the Hellraiser films, at least the first three, I really enjoy those, even if it is quite a drop, from the original, towards the later ones. Nightbreed is another favorite, and one which I like more than the first Hellraiser movie. Bruce Campbell as Mysterio, now that could have been something, but sadly, I have a feeling the producers or money men, were not gonna agree, thinking they needed a bigger movie star. I just recently re-watched the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) movie, and had such a blast doing so. Of course, I saw it along with me eating a whole lotta pizza, as one should, when watching these films. I really feel it is one of those movies, that still not have gotten the recognition it so very well, deserve. For me, among the very best of the superhero/adventure or comic books movie of the 80s and 90s. And a lot of it has to do with the fact, that it brings forward, a lot of heart and love for the original source (the black and white comics of Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman), and really showcases how unique and special each of the (not just the Turtles them selves) characters in the film, really were. For me, it was not just childhood nostalgia talking, but I think looking back, it has held up, because it managed to combine comedy, drama and action, but just about finding the right amount of those ingredients, not going too far, too often. Something which sadly, would be the case with the sequels. I was gonna watch Turtles II as well, but I thought it would be nice, to spread it out a little, take on thing at the time, and not just watch everything at once. Again, I caught myself "amazed" at how time flies. Already wednesday, somehow it feels like a monday, might have something to do with the weather and all. Anyway, you be sure to have yourself a great weekend, and hopefully things will be better by then, and that you are rid of the flu for now. About the first Turtles movie, one scene that still gets to me, is where Master Splinter is trying to reach out, to his angry son Raphael, and it is such a well done and beautiful little part, where a caring father, is trying to share a bit of wisdom onto Raphael, and there are several of these nice moments, spread out, where Splinter also does something similar, where a young and trouble teenager (Danny) is told about how "All fathers care for their sons", and then to more comedic situations, like the Casey Jones and Donatello scene, where they share insults to each other, or Donny and Mike are waiting down in the sewers for the pizzadude, and he better not be late.
