Considering people set out to dislike Homecoming and Guardians, this isn't wholly unexpected. Far far more people set out to dislike Wonder Woman in comparison to those movies considering that it was following two disliked movies. People were ready from the start to believe it was going to happen once again. Guardians 2 had it easy, it was following a critically acclaimed movie than it was a surprise hit. The opposite was true for Wonder Woman. WW was seen as a bright spot from BvS, so people were looking forward to her movie. Guardians 1 was seen as "the bomb that will bring down Marvel Studios" with no one taking it serious until it came out. Homecoming had a lot going against it, what with all the criticism Tom Holland got leading up to the film and the combined hate it got from Sony fans and DC fans together.

No they didn't make all the creative decisions. Everything was still all Sony and Columbia Pictures say. They decided on the casting and get the final word. Wonder Woman being the most profitable movie of this year's superhero movies puts it on top. Profit is everything. Civil War may have grossed over $400 million more than Suicide Squad last year but that doesn't really matter because in terms of actual profit. Civil War only made a minor $35 million profit than Suicide Squad. An Avengers lite made a small $35 million more profit than an original movie, that got bad reviews and featured mostly no named characters. Nope, Guardians 2 and Homecoming making more than it put them on top. Stop trying to emulate DC-Fan. No, a Captain America movie beat a film featuring Batman, The Joker, and Harley Quinn. Seriously, give it up. The MCU's on top because they put in the hard work whereas the DCEU is a complete fucking mess. Also, stop trying to bolster the DCEU's numbers, traitor. Sorry but profit will always come first. That's why Creed is getting a sequel and Independence Day Resurgence won't. Don't undermine it to make a point. It was a Captain America movie starring Iron Man, Spider-man, Black Panther, Ant-man and more and it made marginally more profit than Suicide Squad a movie where Batman appeared for about a minute. Harley Quinn hadn't even been in a movie before and as I said it got bad reviews. And traitor? Come on now, grow up, that's why people here are always making fun of you when you act like this.

Guardians of the Galaxy people thought would bomb but not the sequel. Tom Holland didn't get much in the way of criticism at all and that would have only have been in anticipation for Civil War not Spider-man Homecoming.

Alright, I'll admit it. There are a lot of stupid people in this world, so of course WW was more profitable. I didn't undermine anything. You're the one trying to undermine CA3 coming out on top. You're using every excuse in the book to delegitimize it. You want to know the real truth. Civil War won because it was a flat out better movie than BvS or SS. I don't care. Your insistence that the MCU has lost is getting very tiring.

Your insistence that the MCU has lost is getting very tiring. Wonder Woman was profitable because of stupid people? No it was profitable because it was a well made and we'll liked movie. Just as much so as it's competition. You're too blinded by your love for this series that you can't stay composed whenever anyone says anything that seems against Marvel. I never said that MCU lost, not once did I ever say that. I said financially it is matching it on the same level. Wonder Woman did match Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Spider-man Homecoming on the same level. DC's movies last year did match Marvel's movies at the domestic box office and slightly trailed it at the worldwide box office on a somewhat similar level. Going by tracking and projections, Justice League will also match the other Marvel movies of this year on the same level.

Also, the real reason Civil War beat the shit out of BvS and SS was because it was a better movie than them. If the DCEU is matching the MCU in terms of money, that's only because people's loyalty to Superman and Batman, because heaven knows they haven't made anything worthwhile or put in the same amount effort the MCU has. They get to skate by on the minimum amount of effort while the boys over Marvel Studios HAVE to work hard to get where they are.

It was about on par with Spider-man. All three of them were good but Guardians was the weakest out the three, it's no coincidence it has the worst reviews. People aren't loyal to Superman. He actually has a shoddy box office history. The first two did great but then it wasn't until Man of Steel did they have actually have a successful Superman movie. Batman vs Superman was affected by it's bad reviews, big time. That movie quickly dropped off. However had it actually been a good movie or even just as good as Man of Steel it would have easily have outgrossed Civil War at least in the US. If these DC movies could have the same consistent high level of quality as what Marvel has then this could have really gone the other way.

So does Homecoming. No, Guardians 2 was the best of the three. The critics can go fuck themselves. Good luck making me change my mind. WW is the only one of the three I don't own, because I'm just not feeling any urgency to ever see it again. I've seen Guardians 2 three times since getting it. Yes, they are loyal to Superman. And Batman. By the way, Superman Returns made more money than Batman Begins. Just saying. Yes, and we'd really have neverending bragging and harassment from the likes of DC-Fan. Thank God it didn't.

WW had people being more hopeful towards it, more than Homecoming got. Guardians 2, people were expecting it to be bad because they thought Guardians 1 was just a flash in the pan thing that couldn't possibly last beyond one movie. Hell yes, Holland got criticism. Right from the day he was cast he was getting torn into for looking too young and not playing Peter as mopey as Tobey did or as intense as Garfield did. Homecoming was also ripped into for younger May, using someone like Vulture instead of the Goblin or Dr Ock, having his supporting cast not be all white people, him playing Peter as a teen instead of an adult, etc. The audience went into Homecoming ready to rip into it.

I don't care about your mind, that's your own opinion. You care enough about critics to make an entire thread when it involves some Youtuber saying something bad about a DC movie so don't be a hypocrite. Of course people are loyal to Batman, he's the most popular superhero around. Batman Begins underperformed because of Batman and Robin. Superman Returns made more money but because it cost a ridiculous amount it was a disappointment and was the one that didn't get a sequel.

I just did that to piss DC-Fan off, since he's always posting crap like that on the MCU board. Actually, Superman Returns was also expected to pay for all the false starts previous attempts, like the Nicholas Cage canceled film, as well. That factored into it. There was also a huge box office slump going on at the time that everyone seems to keep forgetting about.

Sony paid them to do so. It's totally accurate to say that three movies produced by Marvel came out this year and scored over 100 million+ openings - a first for any studio. Since Fox and Sony are so thirsty to make "great" films based off of Marvel IP, Marvel wins this Marvel vs. DC fight every time. Their brand is omnipresent.

Proof positive that you will turn even cold hard facts into a win for Marvel somehow. That's pure fanaticism right there! Proof positive you don't know how to analyze scenario. You have no cold hard facts, because you haven't looked into what made those films gross what they did. That is pure fanaticism. Are you actually fucking insane?! I did nothing BUT give you COLD HARD FACTS! THE NUMBERS ARE ALL THERE!
Dude, you win. I'm so over you. Go fuck off somewhere. Bye!

The numbers are NOT adjusted for inflation. But neither were the Marvel ones. But you get my point that the MCU movies were introducing characters the public weren't very aware of vs DC using their big guns people have known of for decades, right? The MCU's been fighting an uphill battle from day one. And frankly, they still are. Pretty much every movie they put out nowadays gets the stink eye when first announced and yet they still prevail. I do get your point. I agree that they were less known, that's true. But lets not exaggerate and pretend that Marvels characters were TOTALLY unknown. You make it sound as if no one had EVER heard of them. There had been toys and cartoons, and Marvel has had TV shows. And of course Spiderman and the X-Men were already successful franchises. Iron Man himself was not as well known, but Marvel as a property had already done a pretty good job of getting out there.
And I don't know what persecution complex you have where you say that "pretty much every movie they (Marvel) put(s) out nowadays gets the stink eye when first announced". That's not true at all. On the contrary, look at how well Thor Ragnarok was received (even though the previous two were thought of as meh), how much good will Black Panther has, what a mega event Avengers Infinity War is shaping up to be. I think Marvel is in its full glory nowadays. I'd argue that their "up-hill battle" ended the moment that Iron Man, their very first movie, made $300+ at the box office.
And then compare that to how much shit Justice League has been taking. I'd be seriously surprised if JL actually beats Thor Ragnarok at this point. Not to mention that Star Wars Last Jedi will cut the legs right out from under anything playing the time.

That would be Iron Man at the moment. TDKR didn't gross as much as IM3. Batman couldn't even gross more than Iron Man in a teamup movie with Superman and Wonder Woman. Iron Man 3 had a huge benefit with the addition of 3D which TDKR didn't have. TDKR was also affected by the shooting that went on. There were reports at the time that people stopped going to the theatre after that for a short while. Batman vs Superman didn't gross as much as it should simply because it was a poor movie which largely affected it's gross. But you forgot that Iron Man 3 sold more tickets to kids (according to DC fans) so had to sell more tickets to make the same gross. DC fan bring that up a lot...but never seem to mention it when they talk box office. That shooting excuse doesn't work for TDKR. There are "reports" of anything a reporter wants to find. But then you notice that two family movies did just fine that weekend. Ice Age Continental Drift only fell 51% in it's 2nd week. (normal drop) Brave only fell 42% in its 5th week. So people were afraid to go see TDKR but had no problem taking their kids to the movies? And then of course you have to explain why people didn't go see TDKR later and give it epic legs if they were scared "for a short while". Also...TDKR opened bigger than TDK. Some just ignore all the reasons TDK was huge. There are always multiple factors behind a huge box office hit. Some of those reasons were Heath Ledger's performance, Heath Ledger's death, and the Joker being in the movie. Joker movies are the most successful Batman movies.None of those were present for TDKR. Anyone thinking TDKR was going to gross as much as TDK wasn't paying attention. So Batman was the biggest but is not currently the biggest draw. Just like Spider-Man was once the biggest draw. Excuses don't change that.
