Yes. But if I buy something it'll be blu ray, not DVD.

Nope. I still watch them but often prefer to use a file. There are very few places that still sell dvds here anyway. Another victim of technological change.
The biggest video store around here gave away all its content to libraries and universities.

I haven't rented anything in over a decade. Not since Blockbuster closed it's doors.
I have a very poor internet connection, and can NOT watch movies online... Even if I could, I can't afford to subscribe to every service to get everything I would want to see,...and I hear some companies, like Netflix, are going down the tubes, so I wouldn't know which services would be worth paying for anyways...
Since I love to watch movies & TV Shows more than once, it is just easier for me to by a physical copy and then I have them when I want them, and don't have to worry about companies, like Netflix, dumping the content I want to see.
I try to buy the Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Packs so I can watch the media on my Blu-Ray player for TV, and DVD Drive on my computer. But, if there is no Combo pack, I will usually just buy the DVD. I have made a few upgrade purchases of Blu-Rays for some of my favorite films though. I keep my older DVDs as backup.
In some cases, especially when it comes to older movies, they are only available on DVD... So I don't have a choice with those... Besides, In my opinion, older films look better on DVD anyway.
Other times, I don't want to spend extra money on Blu-Rays... Either... I just want to see a "Meh" movie but don't want to spend the extra money for a movie that I am not sure about... or ... I only have so much money and I want to buy as many films at one time as I can, and will stretch the cash...
I'm not into 4K Blu-Rays yet. It's still a bit too expensive.

Until a few weeks ago, I had dial-up internet that was unreliable at best, so stuff like Netflix was just out of the question. I wasn't going to drive an hour to the library, hook up some headphones, and watch movies/shows down in the basement. Now I have faster net, but when I watch stuff online it still is blurry and the sound/visual doesn't always sync up, so I'd just assume stick with my hard copies. Plus, they don't stop every so often and ask, "Are you still watching?".

I buy Transformers movies on dvd for hate watching. I didn't start the series on blu, I'm not double dipping now nor upping the sequels for blu.
I've found that some classics play truer as it were on dvd... pre 1960's film & older Disney classics. I know the blu audio is an upgrade so it's a bit of a wash.

Buy, yes. I'm not settling for inferior quality because it's more "convenient".

I buy my movies on DVD or Blu-Ray about 95% of the time, whether they're old or new.
I watch almost all of my TV on Netflix.
